LOVED the first one! Spunky herione, hot-alpha man . . .what could be wrong with it? LOL! I just finished her contemporary series. This was a nice jump.

What is that like any good? As good as BDB?

I know! Going on for hours and hours. Super funny.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Suzanne,

No, it's nothing like the BDB. These books were written before she really started writing about the Brothers, or before the BDB really took off.

Sometimes we can see the WARDen's style shining through, but these are more like contemporary romance.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Carolyn, this is what I wrote in my review:

---

Each book has its own memorable moments and things that made me laugh. There were many such instances in this book, but the one that I still find myself *giggling* over was in regards to the lawn bowling game in which Daisy and Matthew found themselves opponents. The game had been relatively civilized for a while, though it was a very short while. Their teammates long forgotten in the heat of competition, Kleypas segues into the frenzied game: Years later it would still be called the most blood thirsty game of lawn bowling ever witnessed at Stony Cross. The game was extended to 30 points, and then 50, and then Daisy lost count. They fought over every inch of ground and every rule of play. They mulled over each shot as if fates of nations depended on it. And most of all, they devoted themselves to knocking each other’s bowls into the ditch. The game that followed was, for me, laugh out loud funny and will be one of my favorite moments from any book.

message 1010: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I love that she described it as "blood thirsty" years later. I also like how Lisa says that characters will always remember a certain look or situation. It seems to give the books more a long term feel to them and the characters.

message 1012: by Tanith (new)

Tanith | 50 comments I'm going back to Fantasy books for a while, which was the reason I started reading to begin with. I feel kind of disloyal reading all these romance novels.
Until the next Lisa Kleypas and Julia Quinn book come out that is.

message 1013: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurastamps) Finished Book 2 (Fangs But No Fangs) in Kathy Love's "Young Brothers" series. Loved it!! Now I am halfway through Book 3 (I Only Have Fangs for You) and loving it. This series was just what I needed. The 6 books I read after I finished "The Bow Street Runners" were so meh I was desparate for something GOOD! And this is it. ;)

lol, great my minds think alike! I just finsihed Devil in Winter (Wallflowers, #3) by Lisa Kleypas . I loved it! (I actaully bought it from my library book sale for 50 cents!!! A great deal on an excellent book. As you can tell, I'm really proud of myself ;) ). Waiting on the library for Scandal in Spring (Wallflowers, #4) by Lisa Kleypas . The girls in the BDB Group inspired me to reread the series so I started Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward last night. I'm such a dork. I read with a notebook beside me so I can write down my favorite quotes and all the Qhuay scenes. For all the Qhuay fans out there, check out the BDB Group. They have a post about Lover Destined, which is a Qhuay fanfic story. It was so romantic and lovely that it motivated me to reread the entire series and fall in love w/ all the brothers all over again.

sorry, lol, halfway through Into the Dreaming (Highlander, #8) by Karen Marie Moning . (about 3/4 the way through now). I can't believe how much I love it for such a short book, only 102 pages.

message 1036: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I've not read those yet. Pretty good, huh?

message 1037: by Megan (new)

Megan | 546 comments UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "I've not read those yet. Pretty good, huh?"

Yeah, I think so. This is the last in the series. The other books are normal size but this one is just a short story, which is why I put it off for so long. Now I feel like kicking myself!

Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning To Tame a Highland Warrior (Highlander, #2) by Karen Marie Moning The Highlander's Touch (Highlander, #3) by Karen Marie Moning Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning The Dark Highlander (Highlander, #5) by Karen Marie Moning The Immortal Highlander (Highlander, #6) by Karen Marie Moning Spell of the Highlander (Highlander, #7) by Karen Marie Moning Into the Dreaming (Highlander, #8) by Karen Marie Moning

If you like a good highlander romance, I would definitely recommend them. They also have Faery in them too.

Swoon!!!! LOL!! My fave cover is Kiss of the Highlander! I could look at those lips for DAYS!!!

Dhestiny, you MUST read these! Have you read her Fever series? This is the introduction of the MacKelters.

Book One introduces a later character, but Book Two is not so necessary, I think.

It's not so "different" or out there that it doesn't feel like a good Highlander historical. A really, really good mesh!

Laura (laurastamps) Megan, "The Bridegroom" looks good. How is it? I've never read that series before or heard of that author. Cool!

message 1047: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (facere323) | 31 comments I'm currently reading Until You (Westmoreland, #3) by Judith McNaught . And after that I think I'm finally going to read Voyager (Outlander, #3) by Diana Gabaldon . I've been putting it off because it's such an ambitious read and the Outlander books tend to be emotionally draining.

I'm about halfway through and so far it is really good. You meet the characters before in the previous book, A Wanted Man. LLM writes such great characters and storylines that keep you hooked. I would definitely recommend her books to anyone.
