((Caleb is now officially free. He's "waiting until later" to talk to Lyra. What Would Guin Do if Caleb ran into her?))
((Talk to him! And be a bit scared...She is afraid of Slytherins as of a few hours ago. What would Prof Hayden do if Akrisios started roaming the halls?))
Guin smiled and dipped her head slightly."I'm very pleased to have met you both. I promise I won't be as bothersome or annoying in the future." She quit their general area and scuttled quickly down the hallway. She swallowed the pain constricting in her throat. They'll probably talk about what a freak I am. And how stupid I am.

((Sweet!
...Uhm... Track him down, probably.))
Caleb felt distracted as he walked through a hallway; walking helped clear his head sometimes. He bumped into someone, but luckily not too hard. He looked up sheepishly. "I'm sorry. Are you okay?"
((Man, Caleb is always runnin' into people. *laugh*))

((Hahaha, things can be arranged. Oh, and could they possibly meet in like the teacher area, simply because I don't want to have to keep track of three characters in one place?))
Guin stumbled a bit but caught her footing. A book clattered onto the floor, but hey, it was only one this time. She bent and picked it up."Aye, sir, I'm very-"She swallowed, spying the snake on his chest."I really ought to be going. I must warn you, I know a lot of spells. I could...Um...Cause you a lot of pain and such."
Aurelian swept along the hallway, her thoughts ranging and then snapping back to the task at hand. When she spotted the girl, she smiled falsely and paused."Ah, Miss Lillis. Miss Lupin, fine day, is it not?"

Caleb's eyes clouded with confusion as he watched her. "I'm sorry, I don't understand."
((Sure!))
((Sure!))
((Kk, thanks.))
"Oh, no. It's my fault. I got a wee bit carried away. I should watch where I'm going." Guin spluttered."I shan't waste your space or your breath."

Caleb shook his head. "It was my fault," he said. "I never seem to watch where I'm going, and my natural clumsiness doesn't help. Are you sure you're okay?"

"Well, sorry to cut the chatting short, ladies. I'm in need of a small conversation with Miss Lupin." She lowered her eyes, the words catching in her throat."So, wold you please come with me for a few minutes? I promise it won't be very long."
Guin brushed off the hem of her robe."Well, no, I'm not. But it's nothing of yours. And don't worry about it...You're not like the other boys, are you? If you're going to hit, spit, kick, humiliate me, please do so now so I don't have to wait for it."

Caleb tilted his head to one side slightly and tried to decide what she meant. He recalled the way her eyes had flitted to his Slytherin crest and the "other boys" comment, and it made sense. "Oh. No, I'm not going to do any of that. I promise. Were they bothering you?"
"Oh?" Aurelian was taken aback and her stride faltered but evened out after a spell."And I suppose I haven't quite been...The fairest when in your company."
Caleb smiled slightly. "I believe you. They can be very... unkind, though." He paused. "Have we met? I know there are a lot of first years, but I don't recall seeing you at the sorting."

"Um, no, sir. I've known a total of five or six professors because I met them at me-my father's. But, I'm fresh off the express." She kept her eyes glued firmly to the ground."Might you know what a hog wart is and why this school is named after it? Or perhaps a mudblood. Whenever I ask, father always shies away from it."
"Yes..."Aurelian inclined, but shook her head."You have every right to dislike me. But, I'm curious. Miss Lupin, have you heard of the Teacher's Aid program?"

Caleb smiled slightly. "You don't need to call me sir," he said. "We're the same age. Caleb is fine." He shrugged good-naturedly. "I don't. I would suggest asking another Ravenclaw, or checking the library. It doesn't seem like a reasonable name." After a slight pause, he continued. "And... a mudblood is a witch or wizard who was born of two nonmagical parents. The nicer term is muggleborn, though."
"Oh...That's what I am then." She stated quietly."Sir-I mean Caleb, a muggle is a nonmagical folk, right? Why am I a muggle-lover? When Slytherins throw out insults, they really should make sure they are telling someone who understands." She laughed sadly."And I would go to the library...But I've no place to start looking."
((Lol, haha. She is a bit crooked.))
Aurelian looked away."Oh, honey. I'm sorry. I just-I feel so horrible that that's the way you're viewing this whole big mess. Well, each teacher must appoint a student to aid them through the rest of the year. It's a gifted student and they help with grading and other things. I'd like it very much if you would be mine."

"I'm a halfblood," Caleb said with a shrug. "One nonmagical parent, one- one magical. So it doesn't matter to me. Well, I would guess partially because you are a muggleborn. I'm not quite certain otherwise." He smiled faintly. "Consider me your glossary of Slytherin insults."
Guin smiled ruefully."Certainly, I mean who better to be a glossary of Slytherin insults than a Slytherin? But I don't love muggles. I've no muggles to love." She frowned."I'm curious now, you seem to know things. My father knows everything about me, but I don't seem to know anything about him. Do you know an Edgar Adair?"
Aurelian sighed."You do, but I'm not sure if it will matter. I wish-Oh, what's the use. Your my TA, congratulations, yet another thing I'm forcing you to do that you hate. Maybe I should just walk out in front of a Death Eater. It certainly would make plenty of students' lives a lot easier, now wouldn't it?"
Caleb shook his head slowly. "I'm afraid not," he said. "I don't actually know that much. Those things were basic, trust me, ..." he paused. "I'm sorry, I feel rude. I never asked your name."
Aurelian sighed."So terribly wonderful I can't take a bloody curse that's meant for me. Sorry I just ruined your life, Lyra. But you've seven more years with me. As for rotting in hell, it's not much worse than life now."
Guin blew a strand of hair out of her face."It would figure..."She reddened."Oh, my manners do seem to be fleeing these days, I'm Guinevere Gisbourne, I don't believe I caught anything but the 'Caleb'."
Guin blew a strand of hair out of her face."It would figure..."She reddened."Oh, my manners do seem to be fleeing these days, I'm Guinevere Gisbourne, I don't believe I caught anything but the 'Caleb'."
Guin shifted her books to her left hand and extended her right to shake Caleb's."It's Guin, if you like. Guinevere sure is a mouthful, worse than having it full of cotton I think. Do you have any sheep?" She couldn't help but grin."Sorry, I know...Bad pun."
Caleb laughed for the first time in what seemed like forever, shaking her hand. "I've heard worse, don't worry. Well then, Guin, where're you headed?"
"Um...Maybe the Ravenclaw Commons. Maybe the library. Those hog warts have me all fired up." She shrugged."Whichever's closest would be my guess." She stumbled briefly on the sentence."It's hard to get used to an English accent."
Aurelian coughed, her chest seemed to ache."I-Yes, you are correct. Maybe we do have something in common. Well, I'd like it if you reported to my classroom during your next free period."
Caleb grinned, letting a hint of Russian accent creep into his voice at the beginning before taking it back out. "It is. I can do a few different ones, but English is generally the normal. You don't need to change your speaking patterns, though." He thought for a moment. "They're actually about the same distance. Which would you prefer?"
Guin smiled."You're Russian? I'm just backwater Irish. I hoped that maybe changing would help me to forget and pretend everything's fine." She shrugged."How about the Common room, I can dump the books and then I just need to find the library, after that, you can go about your daily life rescuing citizens and battling evil doers..."
"Yes, well, good day-Lyra, what happened to your face? It looks like you were hit by a car." Aurelian gasped. So much for decency.
Caleb shook his head with a smile. "No, I just lived there for a while. Irish?" He nodded. "That's what I thought. Well, if you want to, that's your choice. But it's a nice accent." He shrugged slightly. "Right. Common rooms for Ravenclaw would be this way," he said. "If I can just direct you without getting lost, it will be great." He chuckled softly. "I didn't know I was rescuing or battling, but okay."
((Nighty night, friends! I'll talk to you tomorrow! Poor Lyra. And Aurelian and her have some stuff in common...))
"Oh, right. You were just glossifying." She ignored the comment about her accent, in truth, it really annoyed her. All of these fine Brits and only a few Scots and Irish, it might be easier to fit in if she blended with the largest school of fish."I'm sure you couldn't be more lost than I am."
"Lyra, have you spoken with the headmaster about this? Volos is a very understanding man, he would make sure you were removed and taken to a safer place." Aurelian suggested."Otherwise...I guess we are finished here."
((Nighty night! Aww...Did you do the pressure point thing?))
((Nighty night! Aww...Did you do the pressure point thing?))
((Hahah, no, sorry. I'm not even sure what you're talking about other than chiropractic adjustments, I meant there's this thing where if you take your thumb and put it right in the little dent above your nose and press in fairly hard, it can relieve your headache.))
"I-Lyra, I misspoke. I'm sorry. I guess my class, then."

Caleb smiled. "I guess so. Glossifying. I like that word." He let out a breath. "Maybe not, but the fact that I'm still getting lost after half a school year isn't reassuring me." He looked at her things. "Do you need any help carrying stuff?"

Medea sighed. She waved at Lyra's back as she left with Professor Prince. Then she started walking back to Ravenclaw Tower - alone, again. It gave her an odd sense of deja vu; it was remarkably like her first walk inside Hogwarts. Except it was better. This time, instead of being full of dread about hiding her emotions and cultivating an appearance, she was worrying about Lyra. I don't even know what I can do for her yet... Sooner than she realized, she was at the door to the common room.
"Well, I suppose it's nice to meet you, Tristin," Kynton said with emphasis on suppose. But he didn't worry about seeming rude - he wasn't throwing punches yet, so Tristin should count himself fortunate.
((Oh crap... >.< I just realized I completely forgot to add the prophecy to chapter three. Dang. I'll just edit that in.))

((Aww...
By the way Pudding, Guin is so cute.))
Kynton grinned reluctantly. Tristin's words didn't seem hostile, so he wasn't going to fire up on him, but he didn't lower his guard. "Well, I think I'll go to the library. I'll see you around." He nodded at him.

Kynton smiled, but not in a pleasant way. "Good guess - you could bet on it. And feel free to jump in if you want. See ya." He jerked his head in half a nod as he turned around and sauntered down the hall.

Caleb smiled slightly. "If you say so," he consented. "But remember, it's Caleb. I'm definitely not a "sir" to anybody."
