"We're talking about Muggle fantasy and witches," she explained to Caleb. "And yeah, we sure aren't green! Most witches, at least. But Muggles did get the broom thing right."

Akrisios smiled devillishly. "Exit stage left." He muttered, the pupils of his eyes dilating to a catlike thinness. He passed into a small doorway near the dungeon stairway and began a small process.

Akrisios had to lay flat on his belly and stretch out to make it through the archway. The ground slid coolly beneath him and the smile never left his eyes. He slithered down the stairs, his eyes adjusting to the darkness. He kept his nose low and watched the spiders scuttle in fear before him.

Akrisios made a small sound in his throat akin to laughter as he picked up voices before him. He coiled himself up and settled down, making himself comfortable.

As the footsteps disappeared, he followed. It was a fun game of cat and mouse...But Lyra was very slow at it. He wanted her to run. It wasn't fun if the prey gave up.

Akrisios kept a calm pace, but it seemed like he moved the length of a man every time he tried to creep forward. He hissed at the spiders who immediately freaked out and flipped on their backs or attacked each other in their frenzy to escape.

Akrisios closed his eyes and turned his head away when the light blew into his face. He didn't want to freeze her, but scaring her was enough.
