Phew I finally have something to update. My first book from the 1001 list this year is:1. Hunger by Knut Hamsun
This also counts for Norway on Diane's AtWi80 Books Challenge.
25 Books to Read Before Age 251. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
I have counted this as Bulgaria for AtWi80 Books
1001 2. A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift
This was a very quick read and my first from the 1700s section of the list!
That is an excellent idea, I am seriously thinking about the lists and trying to decide how many I can read for 2010. Thank you
Kristine, I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself with too many goals. Doing the Around the World in 80 books is taking up a lot of my choices for a while. But I wanted to still make some progress on these lists without turning it into a chore! If I read more all the better! Having a goal in place will hopefully help keep me on track :) Good luck with setting your goals!
10016. The Grass Is Singing: A Novel by Doris Lessing
Also counts as Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia) for AtWi80 Books
Bhumi, I really enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray! I have been wanting to read it for ages, so I was really pleased when it was voted this months group read as it was the prompt I needed to finally pick it up! Thankfully after all that waiting it was most definitely worth it!
100119. The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
Also counts as Czech Republic for AtWi80 Books
100120. Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho
Also counts as Slovenia for AtWi80 Books
Yay this completes my 1001 goal for the year! Anything read off the list from now on is a bonus.
25 Books to Read Before Age 25 4. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
Also counts as Italy for AtWi80 Books
and
Book 21. for the year from the 1001 list
As of yesterday I have completed Diane's Around the World in 80 Books Challenge!! Found here Tanya -- Frequent Flyer
25 Books to Read Before Age 255. Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
This completes my goals for the year! Yay! Admittedly the goals I set myself were modest compared to some of the amazing goals being achieved here. But I am excited to reach them all the same. I will continue to record any more read from the 1001 list and the 25 list in the remainder of the year, but anything now is a bonus. Yippee!
Will have to start brainstorming what I'm going to set myself next year...

My reading goals for this year are basically to make progress on various lists/challenges I am currently working on.
1. To complete Diane's Around the World in 80 Books Challenge. Currently I am on 36 (34 at the end of 2009). Progress for this will be recorded in my thread in the folder for this challenge. Tanya -- Frequent Flyer Complete 12/07/10
2. To read at least 20 books from the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list (either 2006, 2008 or 2010 edition) Complete 03/07/10
3. To read at least 5 books from the 25 Books to Read Before Age 25 list. After my age goes up at the end of the month this will be the amount I need to read per year to make it. Currently I have only read 10. For those interested the list can be found here: 25 Books to Read Before Age 25 (My mum has adapted it to 25 Books to Read Before Age 50 :) [She has currently read 12:]) Complete 25/08/10)
Double up between the lists is allowed (and encouraged!)
* edited to include 2010 1001 list for options to chose from
