Really?! I'll have to go check. I glanced at the Newsletter but didn't see that. I love Anna Quindlen, especially her non-fiction, and I've seen her speak/lecture a few time.
Off to check.
Thanks, Mary, for alerting me.
Good morning ladies! I believe that I need a dream analysis expert to sort out the funky stuff that I saw last night. Yikes! It probably didn't help that I watched my tape of this week's Lost before I went to sleep. Still, I'd like to know why I was working at a farm that raised white-faced saki monkeys while I was trying to convince people that purple crayons were the most delicious of the crayons.
Have a great start everyone! Hope it's less weird than mine.

Crazy dream, Christine! I slept like a log (do logs sleep, really?). It's only 35 degrees this morning, but they are promising high 70's for the weekend. Time to get back out into the garden!
Enjoy the day!

Good work, Barb! Start the day off with a bad pun and purple teeth. :)
Oh, yuck! At least we have sun! Stay inside until winter goes away........ :(

My husband didn't walk the dog today either! But, I think you have a reasonable case there! lol (the meany!)

Way to go, Lisa! I am a big fan of Anna Quindlen, too. I got to meet her in D.C. at the National Book Festival in 2004. She is wonderful! I have had her book, Imagined London: A Tour of the World's Greatest Fictional City since that time and can't believe I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I love her non-fiction and fiction.

I have a friend (who lives states away that I met online) that is my gardening hotline. I text her questions, and she always tells me what to do. So if I am shopping for plants or need tips, she's my go-to girl.

That's good, but I think I would need someone to physically be there with me, holding my hand. I'm as novice as it gets.
Good morning everyone! Are you still married Barb? Are you sleeping in today, Christine, or already sitting in a waiting room?
My husband and daughter test for their yellow belt (first belt after newbie) in taekwondo tomorrow. I am going along to watch!
It's supposed to warm up this weekend -- Yay! Have a great day everyone.....

I'm checking in late today. Benjamin is going through some testing at the schools so I've been back and forth (and stressing out). Also, Dixie had a doggie spa day (picture on her blog if interested), and my car needed to be in the shop. I'm having a chocolate emergency, but I'm trying to avoid the kids' Easter baskets.
I'm going outside to weed so that I can mulch tomorrow. I need to dig in the dirt.
Jeannette, good luck to your husband and daughter! How cool!

Have a great trip! I know our weather is supposed to be gorgeous so hopefully you'll have the same.

Jeanette, I hope your husband and daughter kick some taekwondo belt tomorrow. Christine, sounds like you have a busy day. Hope your dirt digging relaxed you. Lee, you keep us going strong--thanks. Barb, I just saw your post about your bastard husband--toss him. LOL!
Now, I'm actually going to read a bit before falling asleep (instead of writing about it).
Night dear people.

I'm headed outside to plant and mulch, but wanted to give a good morning to everyone. I need to watch a little bit of morning news (so sad about the miners!), play a couple of games of Cube Crash, and have my coffee first. I was up late late late reading, and I am one tired chicky. However, I bet the fresh air will wake me up.
This book, The Lotus Eaters, is taking me forever to read, but it is excellent.

God morning! Looks like I'm the late one today! After taekwondo we get to go to Target -- my favorite place to shop! I hope to get in a nice long walk this evening, too, in the lovely spring weather!
Have a great day! :)
p.s. Kathy, where does your son go to school?

I wanted to make the cake, but I ran out of both eggs and flour (I forgot to buy them), so I guess I will wait until next week. I love chatting on this forum as well, but I really should be doing a bit of oranising (my taxes, yuck) and reading this weekend; I hate organisation (my significant other always laughs at me when I say that, I guess hating to organise or not being able to get organised is rather atypical for someone with a German background).
It must be all those years you've spent in N. America, Gundula! Some of the German-ness wore off. :)
This is my favorite place to be,too. It's a fun way to start the day, seeing what all you wonderful ladies are up to!

Maybe, but from what I remember (I was only ten when we moved to Canada), I was not very organised etc. when we still lived in Germany. I think it's simply a personality trait (I'm also useless in math, not good with visual patterns and number logic and quite uncoordinated; my hand/eye coordination is really really bad).
Well, I think any kind of generalization has its (many) exceptions. You have the personality traits that suit who you are! My husband and I are math and computer geeks and my kid hates math! Go figure! lol

Thank you, dear!"
Aw, I loved the little emoticons!

My son goes to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It's a beautiful college town, picturesque town square and all, which he lives near. Of course, there is a big mall and all of that, too, but he lives near the college and downtown, which is a very beautiful and peaceful area.

Just got back from Home Depot (another mulch run), and ended grabbing more plants. I'm out of control.

Thanks for cheering on my insanity, haha! At least I did my part to support the economy...stock at Home Depot should seriously go up now. Well, I am officially exhausted. The entire outside is weeded, mulched, and has new plants. I'm happy with it, but very ouchy...and poor now. ;)

I put a picture from the tae kwon do belt test on my profile page. My daughter is front row, right, with the long braid. My husband is in the back, near the pole. It was fun to watch them run through their moves!
I'm glad everyone got to do something enjoyable today! :)

I used to love taking my kids to the movies. I wondered how this movie was. I just bought the book recently. It's so cool that you are going to start your daughter into golf soon. I played when I was younger (on high school team), but I haven't played in years. I'm thinking of giving it a try again sometime.

I'm so impressed with your industriousness today, Christine. I've been rather lazy, but I have gotten to read.

I've been saving the last 10 pages since supper, and I'm now getting ready to finish it. I'll let you know after the end of it what I think. However, I can tell you that I continue to be impressed with Lansens' writing.

The suspense is killing me! What is your final rating? I have another one of her's on my shelf upstairs (Don't ask me to walk upstairs and get the exact title...my muscles hurt and it would take 5 hours). I think it's Rush Home, or Road Home...something Home and something with an R. Anyway, did you read that one?

I forgot to say good morning! Good Morning!
I dreamt that somebody messed up all of my mulch while I was sleeping. I seriously woke up very freaked out.
Last night I watched the movie, The Namesake. I loved the movie, but I am wondering how anyone followed that without reading the book first. Maybe I only think that because I read it and noticed the missing backstory...?

Even after reading and loving The Girls, one of my favorite novels in which I learned that conjoined twins were indeed relevant to my life, I admit I wondered at the relevance of a 300 pound woman. Well, shame on me for ever doubting that Mary Gooch in The Wife's Tale: A Novel would have a story with which I could connect. Reflections, self and wordly discoveries, transformations--of course we relate. Lori Lansens is a master at taking what appears to be a somewhat extreme character(s) and proving just how much we all have in common, that the boundaries we may envision in our mind just do not exist. This novel did feel a bit unfinished at the end, as in there must be a sequel, please, but it can certainly stand on its own, too. I can't wait to see what Lansens creates next.
Thanks Kathy! Now I'll have to hurry up on my own it-read it challenge so that I can buy it.
Hey, by the way, did anyone realize that finger muscles can hurt? Oh, and that weird muscle in your knee pit, that can hurt. Oh, and there is an elbow muscle that I never knew I had, that can hurt. Just saying...
