Nat (themrsnatg) Start 2010 as you mean to go on... at least two books a week...
Ark - Stephen Baxter
I waited so long to read this one... ever since I finished 'Flood' last summer. I wasn't disappointed. The usual mix of science, fiction and great Baxter storytelling. Can't wait for Part 3!

The Gift - Cecilia Ahern
I love Cecilia Ahern's books... they are like modern day fairy stories. There is always something magical about them - and usually a message hidden (or not so much hidden in this one). I read this cover to cover in one sitting.

Nat (themrsnatg) Books from week two (getting a bit behind here!)

The Summoned - Cameron Dokey
My secret shame... books based on a TV show - kind of pulp fiction but a good tale anyway.

Don't Swallow Your Gum!: Myths, Half-Truths, and Outright Lies About Your Body and Health - Dr Aaron Carroll
Totally fascinating to discover the things that "everyone knows" aren't necessarily true!

Nat (themrsnatg) Week three (running total after this week is 7)

The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud - Ben Sherwood
This was a super little story, not sure about the "big twist". I'm not known for seeing things coming... but I saw this coming.

Belonging - Sameem Ali
Another book from my library's "Triumph over tragedy" collection. Only read if you like autobiographical tales of overcoming adversity.

More Cats in the Belfry - Doreen Tovey
Anyone who had ever had adored cats (or any pets really) will love this story of Doreen and her cats. There is nothing wrong with anthropomorphising animals!

Nat (themrsnatg) Week five (no books in week four!)

The Tale of Murasaki: A Novel - Liza Dalby
A book combining two things I really like... a whole 'saga' (in this case one character's life) and a real historical setting.

Nat (themrsnatg) Week seven (oh dear, no books in week six!)

The Girl Next Door - Elizabeth Noble
The book starts a little confusing with so many characters (so many it needs a 'dramatis personae' but don't worry, like a TV show you soon get the hang of it!

Rumpole for the Defence - John Mortimer
I find Rumpole like comfort food... always amusing and easy to read. Another cracking set of tales about the Old Bailey Hack.

Nat (themrsnatg) Ten books so far so that is ten percent there! This is the list for week nine (w/c March 1 2010)

No Humans Involved - Kelly Armstrong
Given the very small size of our local library it doesn't stock large quantities of books so I'd never read any books by this author before. I would want to though... an amusing mix of detective work and supernatural entities.

Nat (themrsnatg) Week ten (w/c 8 March 2010)

Handle with Care - Jodi Picoult
This is the third book I've read by this author (my library likes her), but I'm not sure I'm inclined to read many more. Different cast of characters and different disease but otherwise really like My Sister's Keeper.

Nat (themrsnatg) Week eleven (w/c 15 March 2010)

School for Husbands - Wendy Holden
Pure chic-lit. Not really sure why I picked this one up as I've gone off chic-lit.

Paths of Glory - Jeffrey Archer
This is not your run of the mill Archer airport/beach type novel. Based on real characters and a story of 'what could have happened' it is a great story and keeps you reading until the end.

Nat (themrsnatg) Week twelve (w/c 22 March 2010) - total to end of this week: 16 books

The 39 Steps - John Buchan
Having seen the latest BBC adaptation I decided it was high time I read the book. This was my first foray into reading a book on Stanza on my iPhone... just as good as reading a paper book. Fantastic tale... but if you are expecting the movies in print you will be disappointed.

Marrying for Money - Chris Manby
New rule... no more chic-lit unless by absolute favourite authors. I could see the end of the book about half a dozen pages in and I was right too!

Nat (themrsnatg) Week thirteen (w/c 29 March 2010)

Empress Orchid - Anchee Min
Another saga/historical novel. Unfortunately towards the end of the book there is too much saga and not enough history.

Nat (themrsnatg) Finally up to date! Week fourteen (w/c 5 April 2010) - running total including these: 19 books

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button - F Scott Fitzgerald
A lovely little tale... turns out the relationship of the movie to his book is only very distant.

Rumpole and the Golden Thread - John Mortimer
Another fantastic dose of the antics of Rumpole and his colleagues from Equity Court.
