Kristina | 2 comments Main character remembers or visits place where some sort of human experiments took place. Characters visit some sort of alternate world at climax of story with action scenes set in the forest. Can't remember any other details clearly. Thanks for any help!!!

Stuart (asfus) | 10 comments Sounds like "High Rise" by J.G. Ballard to me.

Kristina | 2 comments Well, the concept sounds similar, but I'm pretty certain that's NOT the right book. I wish I could remember more specific details about it.

Sounds like J.G Ballard might be worth checking out though, so, thanks. :)

M— | 379 comments Maybe The World Inside by Robert Silverberg?

It's come up as a query on a couple of other sites, too.

ETA: This Goodread's thread lists a dozen different titles of books with enormous sky-scrapers.

Ingrid (bareblueskin) | 5 comments Are you thinking of Extras by Scott Westerfield? Here's the blurb:
It's a few years after rebel Tally Youngblood took down the uglies/pretties/specials regime. Without those strict roles and rules, the world is in a complete cultural renaissance. "Tech-heads" flaunt their latest gadgets, "kickers" spread gossip and trends, and "surge monkeys" are hooked on extreme plastic surgery. And it's all monitored on a bazillion different cameras. The world is like a gigantic game of American Idol. Whoever is getting the most buzz gets the most votes. Popularity rules.

MB (What she read) | 136 comments Hmmm....Sheri S. Tepper's The Companions contains the skyscrapers, medical experiments, forests, and alternate world/off-planet ending. (I'd think you'd remember the Dogs however.) Take a look at the plot synopsis just to be sure.

Kayla (kaylaelrod) | 8 comments This sounds a lot like the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld to me...Uglies

message 9: by Ketutar (new)

Ketutar Jensen Asimov's The Caves of Steel has some sort of "floor level corresponding to social status" world, if I remember correctly. I don't remember any human experiments or forests though... I suppose there was something that could be understood as such in The Naked Sun.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I've sent a PM to the OP, but we might have to move this to Abandoned because she's not been active on GR since she started this thread.
