Welcome! I just joined this group a few days ago. Kendra you are so lucky. I wish I had to read all the books to catch up again. Once I picked up that first Anita book I thought I would die if I didn't get the next one. I did that a few times until I just couldn't take it anymore and had to buy the last 8 that were out at the same time. I think the cashier thought I was crazy. I love reading series, but I hate waiting on the next book.

The graphic novels are so good. Expensive but good. I just went into Barnes and Nobles and read them the first book in the store. I had a lot of time to kill that day.

Hello everyone. I am new to this group and fairly new to goodreads.com

I am a book junkie and I just want to find people to share my enthusiasm with. I only recently started reading the Anita Blake series and I absolutely love it. I am currently reading Blue Moon, but I have to admit I am beginning to get a little frustrated with the whole Anita/Richard thing. LKH is so good at creating characters you love to hate!!

I look forward to talking with you all as I make my way to book 16!!

Welcome to the group. Believe me you'll get even more frustrated with Richard as you read on. And when you've gotten ready comfortable with Anita's story, you should really give LKH's other series a try (the Merry Gentry series. It's awesome too!!

ok so i finished guilty pleasures... i gotta say i loved anita but not to happy about the romance part. i guess i was expecting a lot more of it... im on the second book so we'll see how much i like this one. is there more love interests in the other books or all like the first??

See that's the thing kendra I'm not hooked. with the action and stories i am but relationships im not... i really hope jean claude is ok cause i really like him but no sign of him so far. i guess i will have to read the rest to see if someone shows up to spice up the book a lil... yay i hope so fingers crossed... but i am def. obsessed with anita. I LOVE HER!!!

Amanda - Just trust us - Soon you will have more romance than you know what to do with - The Anita stories seems to have had a slower progression from the action/horror genre but when it makes it's way into the Romance genre it's a full on explosion - Stick with it for a few more books - You will be so glad you did =)

I'm new to this group and just thought I'd say hi. I'm a Merry fan and have read all the books so far. I'm waiting impatiently for Swallowing Darkness and Frost better come back! Before I started reading the Merry books, I must have picked up A Kiss of Shadows ten times before I finally bought it. I'm so glad I did. It was such an intriguing story and LKH grabbed me hook, line, and sinker!

Hi i'm new to the group. My name is meesa. I've read and LOVE all the merry gentry books except for Swallowing Darkness which i should be getting in the mail with in 2 weeks! yay i'm so excited. I've been afraid to read the Anita blake books because i was afraid i wouldn't like them since i love merry so much. BUT i should also be gettting the first 7 or so in the mail along with the SD. I can't wait to start them!

Although everyone has preferences, I think most people who enjoy one series enjoy the other as well.

I prefer Anita to Merry, but given a choice of a new book by Laurell and a new book by anyone else, I'll usually (always?) go for the book by Laurell, no matter which universe we're talking about.

I read and fell in love with Anita first... but then picked up the Merry books when I ran out of Anita books... so I kinda know what you mean.

First of all, Anita and Merry are very different women. Both are fantastic characters, but just fundamentally different. That being said, I ended up with Merry as my alltime favorite, and Anita in second place. Either way, I think any fan of one will also enjoy the other :) Read on!

Hi all, I'm new to this group too.

The Anita Blake were the first paranormal romance books I ever read. My dad, of all people, thought they sounded good so he picked up the first one. He read it then gave it to me where I proceeded to start reading it that night... I just kept reading till it was finished. I went shopping with my dad the very next day (yeah I'm nearly thirty and went shopping with my dad) and we bought the next eleven books in the series.

I swear we fought over who could read them first, he won... but after me nagging him to hurry up he gave in and handed them over. He later tried to tell me they had too much sex in them and he just skipped over the sex parts... (Did he have anything left to read in some of the later books???)

I was given many strange looks as I read this series as I virtually took them everywhere I went. For some reason seeing someone burst out laughing in a quiet room, pull the book to their chest whilst swooning or jump up, run to the kitchen to get coffee or chocolate (which is a must whilst reading these books) is stange to 'Outsiders'

But I'm sure you guys all totally understand... Dont you???

haha yeah i have to take breaks after some scenes and i haven't even read the really "good" books yet lol. im on the 8th book. Actually i had one of my books at the dr's office and someone pulled out an AB book. We just laughed and went back to reading.

I have totally burst out laughing in public, or screamed "yes!" really loud, and made people stare!!! I just say "if only you knew" and keep reading. I think i've even piqued interest in some people where they felt compelled to buy an Anita book just be me reading over whatever small scene made me have an "out loud reaction"
