Tippytoegts | 16 comments Welcome! I just joined this group a few days ago. Kendra you are so lucky. I wish I had to read all the books to catch up again. Once I picked up that first Anita book I thought I would die if I didn't get the next one. I did that a few times until I just couldn't take it anymore and had to buy the last 8 that were out at the same time. I think the cashier thought I was crazy. I love reading series, but I hate waiting on the next book.

message 4: by Heather (new)

Heather (smileyhair) | 6 comments Hi all! I am also new to this group and I love LKH! I have read all her books, although I have not read the graphic novels yet.... I just finished reading Blood Noir... any thoughts??

message 5: by Tippytoegts (new)

Tippytoegts | 16 comments Heather,
The graphic novels are so good. Expensive but good. I just went into Barnes and Nobles and read them the first book in the store. I had a lot of time to kill that day.

message 6: by Heather (new)

Heather (smileyhair) | 6 comments Worth the money you think? I have lots of free time, maybe I'll just take my butt into Barnes and Noble and do the same thing!!

Stacey's All Booked (staceysallbooked) Hello everyone. I am new to this group and fairly new to goodreads.com

I am a book junkie and I just want to find people to share my enthusiasm with. I only recently started reading the Anita Blake series and I absolutely love it. I am currently reading Blue Moon, but I have to admit I am beginning to get a little frustrated with the whole Anita/Richard thing. LKH is so good at creating characters you love to hate!!

I look forward to talking with you all as I make my way to book 16!!

message 8: by Donna (new)

Donna | 22 comments Welcome to the group. Believe me you'll get even more frustrated with Richard as you read on. And when you've gotten ready comfortable with Anita's story, you should really give LKH's other series a try (the Merry Gentry series. It's awesome too!!

message 9: by Dotson (new)

Dotson (ashthedot) | 2 comments Hi I'm new as well, this is my first post in the group. I just finished with Obsidian Butterfly and wow lol Olaf.... I feel bad for Anita lol, I hope Narcissus In Chains can keep up tith the ever growing awesomness that builds as the series goes on.

message 10: by Donna (new)

Donna | 22 comments Welcome Dotson! Believe me the series gets better and better as you go on---why do you think we're all stuck on it?! :-D Anita is AWESOME!!

message 11: by Dotson (new)

Dotson (ashthedot) | 2 comments Well yeah, lol but I was just saying I hope it doesn't dwindle like Harry Potter did near the end *book 6*

message 12: by Christina (new)

Christina (honey1977) | 5 comments Hi all!
I'm a member of this group for a few weeks but just couldn't get around to introduce myself. Sorry about that, I'm a real LKH fan, even I only read until "Obsidian Butterfly" so far! I also like Merry so much! The exciting news about an Anita movie and a 1000 pages book are really great!!!

message 13: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Hi everyone. I'm new to the group also and have only read through Burnt Offerings. I'm flying through the books though so I'll be caught up in no time. I'm trying to avoid the spoilers but it's hard because I want to read every thread! Looking forward to being able to discuss the books.

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments See that's the thing kendra I'm not hooked. with the action and stories i am but relationships im not... i really hope jean claude is ok cause i really like him but no sign of him so far. i guess i will have to read the rest to see if someone shows up to spice up the book a lil... yay i hope so fingers crossed... but i am def. obsessed with anita. I LOVE HER!!!

message 22: by Donna (new)

Donna | 22 comments Amanda just keep reading--believe me you'll find what your looking for in upcoming books.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Amanda - Just trust us - Soon you will have more romance than you know what to do with - The Anita stories seems to have had a slower progression from the action/horror genre but when it makes it's way into the Romance genre it's a full on explosion - Stick with it for a few more books - You will be so glad you did =)

message 24: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments Well girls you just got me sooo excited to read the next books.. lol i already have the first 10 so i'm def. going to read them.. i will keep you guys updated...

message 25: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 191 comments Mod
heehee Amanda will definetly understand in a while. It's so funny Anita is like a Nun for the first few books then BAM she totally makes up for lost time. Heehee

message 26: by Cat Singh (new)

Cat Singh | 202 comments BAM! that's a very good description!! And making up for lost time is quite the understatement!! She makes up for her lost time, mine, yours, and your neighbors!! (hehehe) No really, fear not Amanda, a few more books and you'll be so deep in romance you'll forget how to swim!

message 27: by mlady_rebecca (new)

mlady_rebecca | 278 comments Think of the early books as foreplay. *g*

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

message 32: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments hi Jennie. nice to meet you. oh trust me i get soo into book lately everyone around me knows exactly what's going on.

i was just looking to get the rest of the series (like it wont be there in a week lol) but i was wondering if anyone knew of a website to get books cheap. i have been buying books like crazy and it's starting to add up.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Amazon tends to have some great deals and never yourget your local used book stores - Half Price Books is one around Kansas that's great - I think they have a website as well
http://www.halfpricebooks.com/

message 34: by Karen (new)

Karen (karen_anders) | 1 comments I'm new to this group and just thought I'd say hi. I'm a Merry fan and have read all the books so far. I'm waiting impatiently for Swallowing Darkness and Frost better come back! Before I started reading the Merry books, I must have picked up A Kiss of Shadows ten times before I finally bought it. I'm so glad I did. It was such an intriguing story and LKH grabbed me hook, line, and sinker!

Looking forward to the discussions of the group.

message 35: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments thanks jennie... i will look into that.

message 36: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments YAY finished the second book. Ok so anita is friggin awesome!!!! i shut the second book and had to start the 3rd the same night... so happy jean-claude is back in the picture wahoo!!!

Romeesa Sulkowski Hi i'm new to the group. My name is meesa. I've read and LOVE all the merry gentry books except for Swallowing Darkness which i should be getting in the mail with in 2 weeks! yay i'm so excited. I've been afraid to read the Anita blake books because i was afraid i wouldn't like them since i love merry so much. BUT i should also be gettting the first 7 or so in the mail along with the SD. I can't wait to start them!

message 38: by mlady_rebecca (new)

mlady_rebecca | 278 comments Welcome, Meesa.

Although everyone has preferences, I think most people who enjoy one series enjoy the other as well.

I prefer Anita to Merry, but given a choice of a new book by Laurell and a new book by anyone else, I'll usually (always?) go for the book by Laurell, no matter which universe we're talking about.

message 39: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments Hi Meesa,
i feel the same about Merry im in love with anita and not to sure how i will like the merry series.. i guess we'll find out... let me know what you think about that series

message 40: by Elysium (new)

Elysium | 2 comments Hi! I'm new to the group and wanted to say hi :)
I'm currently reading Blue Moon and I've loved the books so far. Haven't read Merry yet but hopefully soon.

message 41: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments hello Elysium nice to meet you... that's what im up to!!!

message 42: by Heather (new)

Heather (fantasy_mom) | 28 comments Meesa & Amanda,

I read and fell in love with Anita first... but then picked up the Merry books when I ran out of Anita books... so I kinda know what you mean.

First of all, Anita and Merry are very different women. Both are fantastic characters, but just fundamentally different. That being said, I ended up with Merry as my alltime favorite, and Anita in second place. Either way, I think any fan of one will also enjoy the other :) Read on!

message 43: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments yeah... i actually started getting some of those merry books... who am i kidding of course im gonna read them lol. Almost done with Blue Moon and oh my god I just can't stop!

message 44: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2 comments Hi all, I'm new to this group too.

The Anita Blake were the first paranormal romance books I ever read. My dad, of all people, thought they sounded good so he picked up the first one. He read it then gave it to me where I proceeded to start reading it that night... I just kept reading till it was finished. I went shopping with my dad the very next day (yeah I'm nearly thirty and went shopping with my dad) and we bought the next eleven books in the series.

I swear we fought over who could read them first, he won... but after me nagging him to hurry up he gave in and handed them over. He later tried to tell me they had too much sex in them and he just skipped over the sex parts... (Did he have anything left to read in some of the later books???)

I was given many strange looks as I read this series as I virtually took them everywhere I went. For some reason seeing someone burst out laughing in a quiet room, pull the book to their chest whilst swooning or jump up, run to the kitchen to get coffee or chocolate (which is a must whilst reading these books) is stange to 'Outsiders'

But I'm sure you guys all totally understand... Dont you???

message 45: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments haha yeah i have to take breaks after some scenes and i haven't even read the really "good" books yet lol. im on the 8th book. Actually i had one of my books at the dr's office and someone pulled out an AB book. We just laughed and went back to reading.

message 46: by Cat Singh (new)

Cat Singh | 202 comments I have totally burst out laughing in public, or screamed "yes!" really loud, and made people stare!!! I just say "if only you knew" and keep reading. I think i've even piqued interest in some people where they felt compelled to buy an Anita book just be me reading over whatever small scene made me have an "out loud reaction"

message 47: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments That's great Cat! haha I say "OH NO" a lot my boyfriend has to stop and look at me so i can explain. i give him mini heart attacks when i read a fight scene lol.. glad someone else does it too.

message 48: by Cat Singh (new)

Cat Singh | 202 comments that's awesome, i do the "oh no" a lot too! glad i'm not the only one!

message 49: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 148 comments hahaha yeah glad i'm not the only one.

message 50: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2 comments I'm soooo glad you guys get where I'm coming from. Most people just give you really weird looks but every so often someone just gives me that secret 'I've read that book too' smile...
