Hi, My name is Kittiya. I'm new to goodreads, A had met a new friend who suggested that I should try it out I'm really liking it so far. It's nice to see That there are still people out there who love to read just as much if not more than I do. I have already roped some of my friends into joining to. I love LKH!!! My sister In-law had gotten me started on the Anita series first. When I first started the series Harlequin & A Lick of Frost had just come out in hard back. I flew through the Anita books in a month. Then proceeded to go out & buy the hard cover of Harlequin. An hour later I was looking at the library for her other novels. Luckily My best friend had a few of the stand alone. She had also Started the Merry (which she loves) So then I went through them just as quick. I also love Anita But I found her taking second place with every book of Merry's that I read. I love both of them, I think it's great that they are so different. To very strong but different women that I can't get enough of.

I have been wanting to start the Anita Blake series for some time now and just finished the first two books and im now on the Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3). I am enjoying them alot. I really like Jean-Claude. He is fast becoming my favorite sexy vampire.
Hi!! I've been reading the Anita Blake series since 2002 (I think). I caught up with the series shortly after and couldn't wait for my next "fix". I just finished Skin Trade and will always love Kick-Ass Anita. I follow LKH on twitter (@LKHamilton). She doesn't talk about her characters but it's nice to know how she gets thru her writers blocks and daily routines.
I've read all the Merry series and can't wait for the new one to come out.
Hey all! Really glad I ran across this group!! I LOVE LKH! I love both Anita and Merry! I am only through book 7 of Anita, but I plan on reading them all for sure! And I can not wait until the next Merry book comes out! For those who have yet to read that series, I highly recommend it, but it's not for the faint of heart ;)
Hi ladies. I'm new here upon invitation from Cat. Incidently, thanks for that Cat. When I read the group description, I almost declined. First of all, because I really suck at being a lady, no manners at all! And secondly, are you ready for this ... I kept seeing the ladies at Heart of Valentine talk in abreviations about LKH and I didn't know who they were talking about. Now I do! And since I teach American culture, it's about time I got to know her stuff. What better way than from people who really enjoy her work. I hope that's okay with all of you?

Hi! I started reading LKH's Merry Gentry series first. I absolutely loved it!!!Fave Fae, Darkness. I can't wait till Devine Misdemenors comes out! I'm almost tempted to reread that series. I'm currently reading Anita Blake, I'm on Book 7 Burnt Offerings and may finish it this week. I like Anita's character. Jean-Claude is awesome and Richard I've not decided on yet. ;-)

Lauren, Anita Blake is still open-ended. I don't think LKH has declared any definite number of books. She's like the energizer bunny...she'll keep on writing, and on and on!
I loved Richard back in the Circus of the Damned and Lunatic Cafe BUT now, his hurt wah wah side just gets on my nerves. He needs to get over it. UGH! Like I mentioned earlier, I'm almost finished with Burnt Offerings and so far he's acting like this guy that I broke up with when I was in high school years ago. LOL
Well get used to it Lesley... I was feeling the same way and he was totally annoying me in Blue Moon, but he redeams himself a little in the end... i'm currently on Obsidian Butterfly and currently no JC or Richard :(:(

Thanks to Cindyg - I didn't know this group existed! Very exciting.LKH is the author that really got me into reading paranormal stuff. Sheerly accidental! I joined a book club a long time ago and forgot to send the card back, this got me an automatic delivery of Kiss of Shadows. The book sat beside my bed for months, finally one night I picked it up and lost the whole night inside the pages of that book. I was hooked on Merry and her georgous men.
I resisted Anita's world for years, I didn't like vampires, or so I thought. Turns out, I love vampires! (Yes, it's because of Twilight that I aquired a taste for vampires.) I started reading Guilty Pleasures in June of this year. I am almost finished with Incubus Dreams and loving Anita and her world (men?)...and yes, Jean-Claude is absolutly my favorite vampire. (Sorry, Edward.)
Anyway, that is a bit about how I came to love LKH and her worlds and one of the reasons that I do adore her books is for the same reason as mentioned by Cat in message 50 on this board, I always have an "out loud reaction" to something in the books, be it a laugh or other - that to me is the mark of a great book, if it gets you so emotionally involved that you are reacting in "real-time" - well, thats a damn fine book.

I love Jean Claude, Richard just makes me mad. What is wrong with that Were??? I read the series fast too and then I got a taste of Merry and her men and OMG!! I hope both series go on and on and on. Can't see getting tired of either one anytime soon.

I don't know, I just didn't get into the Were until Micah & Nathanial. Maybe a little Jason too...lol!
I hadn't read much with Were's (intentionally) until Twilight and those wolves weren't for me. I think I like the kitties better than the wolves...I guess the wolves make me think "wet dog" and that doesn't mix well with sex...lol!

Hi everyone. My name is Veronica & I looooove the Anita & Merry books. I got into reading the Anita books first and thought, what the hay, why not give the Merry series a try, and I was not disappointed. These are my two favorite series out of all the series I read. I've also burst out laughing at home and my husband looks at me like I'm crazy. lol Oh well what can you do? When something's funny, you just can't help yourself. :)

I love both of Laurell K's series. Does anyone have any idea when a new Merry book will come out? I've read the whole series of Anita Blake and have two books left of the Gentry series. I just know when I'm done I'll go through withdrawal. Thanks for the help and happy reading:)

I believe the next Merry book is supposed to come out fall 2011. It hasn't been written yet. She's currently writing a new Anita book.

Hi All, I am new to goodreads. I kept hearing about LKH & finally go the nerve up to read her. LOL I ended up reading all of Merry 1st & I am currently reading Blue Moon. I laughed when I heard that there was weird sex in the Anita Blake series. I don't think there was any sex at all until maybe the 6th? book. I think Merry was making up for it. LOL I am really enjoying them. I have to admit that I am a Richard fan and am happy with the turn of events so far in this book. Just an FYI, LKH has said that she will write Anita indefinitely (like until she dies) but that Merry has a definite ending arc, at least for the foreseeable future. LKH is also great on FB & Twitter. ;)
just started my first LKH book, Guilty Pleasures. Love it! Can't wait till I get farther in the series.

To stave off the months of waiting for the next book, I decided to start read the series all over again for the third time! *I now realize I must have been slightly drunk when I made decision. I mean I practically know the stories by heart now!*

Woo Hoo!!! A group dedicated to LKH!!! Been reading for years (long round about story having to do with a Sherlock Holmes fan site) and have yet to give up on Anita Blake. Have to confess I'm not a Merry Gentry fan, but that's a dislike of fairies in general and nothing to do w/LKH's take on them. Honestly, if anyone could have saved them from my wrath it would have been her...but they still need fear me >>:)

Hi Cass, must disagree with you about Nathaniel, he's a work in progress look how far he has come since Narcissus in Chains. However I think you are dead on about Jean-Claude.

i think recall her saying either late 2011 or 2012, not completely sure but i dont know what month or anything. shes not even working on it yet, she working on the next anita now
I looked on fictfact and it has Hitlist as her next Anita book and it has a release date of 6/7/2011. If she is writing another Merry, maybe it will be after that?

The only books I ever considered a guilty pleasure were the bodice ripper romance novels. The plots were so predictable and the characters so over the top. But, hey, I was a teenager.
