I have a question. It it my understanding that all tasks from 15.1 through 25.6 have to be historical fiction books in order to fit the task...with the exception of 20.5, which can be non fiction. Is this correct? In other words, I can't count a book for the task unless it is historical fiction - even though it may fit the task.
I'm specifically concerned with 20.3 (HF woman's name in title) and 20.4 (HF man's name in title). I found books that fit these tasks, but they are not historical fiction, so I would not be able to count them...correct?
Sorry to be a pain. Thanks for the help.
Can you do graphic novels for a task? I was just wondering because The Exile by Diana Gabaldon could be an option for me on task 10.1. I know audiobooks are accepted but not about GN. I've never read a GN before so don't feel bad for telling me no LOL. ;)
No... I'm not going to tell you no. ;)
I will set a restriction though - they cannot be used for any tasks worth more than 15 points. It wouldn't be fair for you to look at glossy pics of Jamie's pecs and grab a 100 point score out of it... :P
You're good with 10.1 though!

25.1 Read a HF book in which religion is a major theme
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (pp. 976)
25 + 8 page points + 1 HF bonus = 34
Total challenge points = 384

Oh wait. I thought y'all were talking about....
nevermind.

LOL Oh you really wanted to tell me no didn't you Becky! ;) No worries, if I do end up using it it will only be for 10.1. There aren't other GN that I would want to use...not that I would truly know since I've never read one lol. Anyway, as far as I've heard looking at Jamie's pecs isn't going to be too thrilling, the artistry is apparently largely lacking!

HMPH!! Who made THAT decision??

LOL Don't ask me, I'm just relaying what I've heard! The art being inconsistent is a major complaint about The Exile. I'll be forming my own opinion one of these days.

Oops, this is what i get for posting late at night. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll sort it out now, silly me.

I'm anxious to see what you think!

Would The Last Kingdombe okay for the HF with religion as a major theme? There are a couple of major struggles in the story and one strong one is religious between Christians and pagans. The danes and the very religious Alfred who wants to make the country purely christian.
Another question, for the task 'visit what I should read'.... some readers gave me some suggestions but later Jackie gave a suggestion to someone else (italy related) which I do think she should have given to me :-). Can I use it too?
LOL Technically the recommendation should be for you...
But why don't you ask for HF set in Italy recs? Then it'll count. :)

:-) ok, I will ask it spe like that :-) but Jackie shouldn't be allowed to give Italy recommendations to someone and NOT mention anything to me! :-))))

LOL! You tell her!
LOL! You tell her!
I did! She said: you enver asked for rec's. me, never asked for Italy recs?e????? Me??????? My life exist out of Italy recs!!!!!!! :-))))Hi Jackie! :-)
Someone (I think it was Kaite) had a questions over in the CHallenge 4 thread, and I was curious about the same thing. Can we redo a task? If I post a task as completed, but later want to use a different book instead of the one originally posted, can I do so?
Thanks for your help.
If you want to CHANGE the book used for points, yes, you can do that. But if you want to do the task again for additional points, or read two books for the same task, no.
Does that make sense?

Becky, I am not sure that I understand whay you are saying. If someone wants to change a book which would give her/him additional points, isn't that alright?

Yes - but they can't read two different books for the same task and get BOTH points.

For Challenge 4, would Shangrihi Girls work for task 25.5 read 2 books set in the same time period but different countries and my time period is World War II.

I've never read that one Djrmel, so I'll say yes based on your research.

I just finished Cutting for Stone and I wonder if you'd consider it an HF. I'd say just over half the book takes place in post-WWII 40's and 1950's in Ethopia. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Yep, that'll count. :)

Hey, I am new and pretty sure this question has been asked before, but if it has, I can't find the answer. Does time travel count as historical fiction if it's mostly set in the past, or does the main character(s) need to be a historical contemporary? In other words do books like Outlander and Blackout count as HF?
I think I read the for the one word and two word title that 'the' counts but (typical me), can you also drop it and not count as a word?
