PLEASE FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WHEN POSTING A LIST

EXAMPLE (lists you post should look exactly like this):

-----------------------------------------------------

TOPIC HEADING:
Bitter Creek - Joan Johnston (ACTIVE)

BODY OF THE COMMENT:
Bitter Creek - Joan Johnston

Summary: The series starts off mainly focused on two feuding Texas families: the Blackthornes, and the Creeds and love that develops between members.

1. The Cowboy
2. The Texan
3. The Loner
4. The Price
5. The Rivals
6. The Next Mrs. Blackthorne
7. A Stranger's Game

**********

Joan Johnston
[image error] The Texan (Bitter Creek, #2) by Joan Johnston [image error] The Price (Bitter Creek, #4) by Joan Johnston The Rivals (Bitter Creek, #5) by Joan Johnston The Next Mrs. Blackthorne (Bitter Creek, #6) by Joan Johnston A Stranger's Game (Bitter Creek, #7) by Joan Johnston

-----------------------------------------------------

Posting a List:

- Make sure to add your list to the most appropriate folder.

- In the TOPIC box, put the series title, a hyphen, then the author (or say multiple authors).
- Please use the most accurate title for the series, ie if the author has a specific title for it, use that.
- ALSO, please note in parenthesis the status of the series: complete, active, unfinished, or other SHORT appropriate label.

---example:
Troubleshooters - Suzanne Brockmann (ACTIVE)
Dream trilogy - Nora Roberts (COMPLETE)

- In the message area, first repeat the series title and author (copying & pasting the exact topic text is fine) so the message will be found in Search group messages feature.
- If possible, please add a short summary about the series.
- Then give a list of the books in the appropriate order they should be read.

---example:
Troubleshooters - Suzanne Brockmann

1. The Unsung Hero
2. The Defiant Hero

- If the series is an unofficial series, see this post:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show_g...

- Also STRONGLY encouraged: use the Add Author/Book widget to link the books to the Series list here. Add a text link to the author, and use the cover images options to link the individual books

- If you have a partial list of books, or a list you aren't sure is complete, put it in the "Partial Lists" folder and hopefully someone will know if it's complete or post additions to it.

- If you are looking for a list of a certain series, post a request in the "Requests" folder.

- Anything else goes in the "Off-Topic" folder.

- Feel free to leave comments about a series! Whether you liked it, disliked it, reasons why, or anything else.
- NOTE: if you created the list, leave your opinion/etc in a separate comment from the initial list.

I added a part to the guidelines about commenting on lists.

I thought it might be helpful to encourage commenting on a series so anyone considering reading it could see what others think. Comments don't have to be a review, but something short that shows what you thought of the series as a whole.

Edited again to say that adding a short blurb with a list is encouraged.

Minor update to the Guidelines added to make it easier to use the search feature to find a list.

- In the message area, first repeat the series title and author (copying & pasting the exact topic text is fine) so the message will be found in Search mode, then give a list of the books in the appropriate order they should be read.
---example:
Troubleshooters - Suzanne Brockmann

1. The Unsung Hero
2. The Defiant Hero

For lists you've already added, it'd be helpful if you could edit the original list and add the text.

I'm not trying to be a rule Nazi, it's just that we've already got over 100 lists here and the only way to currently find a specific list is to go poking through all the topics. See my post on Avoiding Repetition about the problem with the Search feature.

I've adjusted the posting guidelines a bit.

A couple thing -

1. When creating a topic and putting the series name and author on the Subject line, please add (in parenthesis) the status of the series. This is to help with organization and keeping lists current.

Examples of what to add:
(ACTIVE)
(COMPLETE)
(UNFINISHED)
....UNFINISHED is for if the author had planned to go on, there were stories needed to be told, but they've abandoned the series for whatever reason.
(UNKNOWN)
...use UNKNOWN not if YOU don't know, but if there is no information available about whether the author will continue the series or not.

2. Also, I'm encouraging people to use the Add Book/Author widget to add the books to the end of the list. First, add a text link to the author - this allows the list to be linked to the authors profile. Then add a book cover link to each book - this will allow the list to show up on the GR book pages.

For an example, see this post:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2...

3. Remember to copy the author and series name into the body of message (so that it can be found with the Discussion Posts search feature.

4. Oh, and lastly, if you have a list, but don't want to post it yourself for whatever reason, just post it in the Requests folder and I'll add in official form.

That's all.

p.s - Please keep adding lists! There haven't been added in quite a while. (But remember to follow the format!)

Thanks!

Just a warning about what a hardass I'm going to be - if lists aren't posted formatted at least close to the guidelines, I'll delete the list and repost it.

I'm making some adjustments to the Folder system. Each romance subgenre now has 3 folders (or they will when I finish)...one for ACTIVE series, one for COMPLETE series, and one for UNKNOWN. This is mostly just help try to keep things up-to-date and organized.

So when you add a new list, be sure to put it in the right status folder.

Thanks!

**NOTE...this is a work in progress...right now, I've only got 2 subgenres done, the rest are the same as they were. I'll be slowly working on the rest**

Just wanted to mention that all the status folders are up. I'm currently working on moving lists around to the right folder.

But for anyone who wants to move their own lists, the folders are now there to do so. If you do, make sure to add the status to the Heading of the list.

Also, if you want to help out, you can poke around in the UNKNOWN folders and let me know the status of a series and I'll adjust the List Heading and move it to the right folder.

Thanks!
