I'm very tired, so please excuse if this is an obvious question... So say for January's choice you would put options 1-14 (as it stands now) into the randomiser and the top 4 to be picked will be the 4 categories (with us nominating particular books for polls?) we will be reading for the month? We will now have 4 books of the month? That's fine with me, I'm just confused. Thanks!

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Could we add Dystopian, Nonfiction and Fantasy?

Ah, best of both worlds (randomized and voting). I get it now, thanks!

message 4: by Koori no hi (new)

Koori no hi I'm probably not going to be on goodreads or taking part much in the whole 2010. I'm going to Japan as an exchange student in March and not comming back till Feb of 2011. So probably will be busy learning another language and won't have much time for reading.

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 74 comments How about a new book series published in 2000+? Is that a theme?

message 6: by Corinne (new)

Corinne Mathews (cmathews) | 27 comments hi,
I'm a high school librarian and I get asked for books about suicide and drugs, or other similar situations. I don't know what to catagorize that as a theme, but that might be something different.

How about books that have been made into movies?

message 8: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) How about:
*Made into a TV show or movie

*ALEX Award winners (adult books for YAs)
http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/yal...

*Newbery award winners and/or honors
http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/als...

*Other awards such as: Printz, Best books for young adults, Quick picks for reluctant readers, etc...

*War (not World Wars...)

*African American Lit

*Memoir/Biographical

*Apocalyptic

Any of those sound good?

message 9: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Awesome! :)

African American Lit goes under multi-cultural, but I though we could get more specific?

Also, just so you know, you have books in poetic form on the list twice 5 & 22.

That's interesting, Fiona, Black History Month state-side is now, in February.

Looks like we're going to have some interesting choices coming up!

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Hey this is probably a really obvious question but here it is:

After the theme is picked do we pick our own books (under the theme heading)? Like for fantasy The Golden Compass? Or does someone (the mediator or whatever) pick the book and we all read it? I am fairly new to Wild Things and I think I might want to participate in the book club part (if I knew how to!) Thank you!!

message 12: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Oh ok! Thanks you! There are so many different "groups" in Wild Things that I was getting a bit frazzled! Hahaha. . . I didn't realize there was an explanation of what this group was or else I would have read it and saved you the trouble :(
Sorry! Thank you for telling me though. . .maybe I will do it next month! YAY!!

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Another dumb question I am sure! Where do I go to nominate a book? SORRY!!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) Fiona wrote: "I think in light of Iran banning GR I am going to add 'Middle Eastern' to the list. This could be anything from authors who come from those countries to books set there."

Wow. I had no idea.

vicki_girl | 157 comments I voted and the February poll says...

The results of this poll have been hidden until December 31, 2011.

December 2011 seems like a long time to wait to find out the theme for February. ;)
