I have lots and lots of half-used or 75% used legal pads.

Flylady says you should have 14 pairs of underwear: 7 you love and 7 for "that time of the month"!

And she says you only need 5 bras! She only has 14 pairs of socks!

janine | 7709 comments Only 14 pairs or underwear?

message 157: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree Janine. I need a fresh pair for after the gym....

message 158: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I need a fresh bra after the gym. I think I own about 15 bras. Got to have some black, some nude, some white, some flowery, a woman of my age needs a damned wardrobe of bras.

message 159: by [deleted user] (new)

Don't forget the sports bra!

message 160: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments You know it.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Delete delete delete. I am clearing up the clutter in my Yahoo inbox. It was getting very crowded in there. Now I can breathe again.

I am going to count my unnerwers, bras and socks one of these days. If only because I am curious now. The thing about bras is I have my good bras, my satisfactory bras, and the bras which are in purgatory, on their way to hell and discardment but not quite there. They still have a tiny bit of life in them, suitable for wearing if you're doing something like cleaning the house, or if you're not going to have human contact for a few hours.

message 163: by [deleted user] (new)

I have those too LG. Or is it, the bras I wear when all the good ones are in the wash? Necessary but only wear when I'm desperate!

As if you don't feel bad enough at "that time of month"

I have knickers like that. I call them my "desperates"

I can't wait until everyone inventories their undergarments and posts totals. I bet that evie wins.

Phil | 11837 comments I'd vote LG. Just a hunch.

You'll have to wait awhile for mine. I won't need to do underwear laundry for awhile, so I could count clean, but not dirty (I refuse to go digging through my dirty underwear!).

I could get to sock totals sooner.

This will be a good opportunity to throw out the thongs I wore once (probably in 1998) and never wore again.

If I have a thong with the store tag still on it, should I donate to Goodwill? Will someone actually buy it? They will if it has store tag, right?

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "If I have a thong with the store tag still on it, should I donate to Goodwill? Will someone actually buy it? They will if it has store tag, right?"

Yep. They buy anything at Goodwill. Bill Clinton used to donate his underwears to Goodwill. Lightly used.

Félix (habitseven) Out the window?

message 175: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Yes, from 80 stories! It landed on an elderly person's head!

message 176: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well, that'll save us a little Medicare money, anyway.

I'm not going to count my knickers and socks ! I haven't even folded the clean washing so I'm not going to do the inventory. It's too boring.
Whew... lucky I checked this before I posted, I typed knockers instead of knickers.
Yesterday I bought two pairs of undies ,one bra and three pairs of socks.

Yikes! I counted underwear once, 45 pairs. I could not survive with only 14.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "What?? COME ON!"

Truth. They listed in detail their donations to Goodwill on their tax returns.
something like this:
2 suits, worsted wool
12 dress shirts, assorted cotton
16 ties, silk
12 boxer shorts, cotton

Lobstergirl | 24781 comments Mod
Oh yeah, now that you mention that, I do remember the underwear donations.

Emily E (emily_e1) | 1032 comments I have a friend who collects thongs. It made for an interesting conversation when she explained to my dutch sister in law that she had fancy thongs with sequins for special occasions...

message 182: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4439 comments I always seem to lose mine. At the moment I seem to have three odd ones . I only wear them at home in summer because they make my legs ache if I walk too far in them.

message 183: by Emily (new)

Emily E (emily_e1) | 1032 comments If they would let me wear thongs with my work suit in summer I definitely would!

message 184: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4439 comments Freedom for toes!

Félix (habitseven) The other kind of thong.

Yeah, my SIL couldn't understand why this weird Canadian/Aussie was telling her so much detail about her underwear collection ;)

Yay!!

message 188: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments I bought a jewelry armoire at a garage sale for $10. There was a bit of jewelry under the drawers so we went back, but the guy said he picked it up at a sale.

Anyway, I cleaned out and consolidated two small jewelry boxes and various trays, dishes and hanging necklaces. I'm getting rid of 32 pair of earrings, some bracelets, and 5-7 sets. We sold $70 to the gold exchange.

Phil | 11837 comments NEW PAGE!

We're going to have a full house the first week in October (relatives coming in for a baby shower). I've got a LOT of decluttering to do.

You've got ages and ages.

message 191: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4439 comments I haven't started the kitchen cupboards yet. It looks like I'll be doing Mum's kitchen cupboards this coming weekend.

She over heated a wheat bag in the microwave and filled the kitchen with smoke.
The cupboards need a wash inside and out, the crockery included.

Jaye | 180 comments I'm supposed to participate in a neighborhood yard sale on Labor Day week-end.
I've lived in this house 40 years and have to move in a year, probably sooner.
I sit here paralyzed.

Try not to think of the big picture. Start off with small tasks to get the ball rolling.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "You've got ages and ages."

I've got 100 people coming over for dinner Saturday and I don't have enough time to declutter. So, I will need a couple of boxes and haul clutter to the basement. I'll deal with it tomorrow. For tomorrow is another day.

Have you really got 100 people for dinner ?

message 199: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Yep, we do a Luau every summer and guests will mostly be in my yard, seated for dinner in my next-door neighbor's back yard with a tent if it rains and a live band this year. I even got to choose the set list! Woo hoo! Ramones, Springsteen, Joan Jett, some Lou Reed& Buddy Holly for good measure.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I'm on an official de-cluttering jag. I'm taking 6 bags to the goodwill tomorrow, and hoping to fill just as many over the weekend. If I don't need it or love it, it has to go!

Now I just need to figure out if this thread inspired my project, or if it's just very nifty timing.
