Steven I can't find your review of Amazonia, did you post it yet?

OK - I have been missing you all way too much. I have been very busy with job#1, job #2, and job #3 that I have barely had time to read the TV guide, let alone a novel. But spring break is coming and aside from the 45 hours of housework/yardwork that needs to be done, I want to read a couple of books.
Cici, how is the pumpkin doing? I hope he is well. How is big sis? Is she adjusting? How are you? Tired, I bet. Have you heard from Jennifer lately?
Steven, I hope that you are well. Although the calendar says spring, here in Michigan it really is winter. It was snowing today! Ugh! How is the weather there?
Everyone else, I hope that you are thriving and happy. That's all anyone can ask, correct?

Brady is doing good, right now.He is a big, big boy!!His weight now is what it should be around a year of age!! He's 4 months!! He's a happy boy, but still doesnt sleep much, so that means we dont get much sleep either!
Jennifer was just pretty ill, but she's doing much better. :) We gotta her back on here.
How is everyone doing?? It's been a while!

Glad to hear all is well with you and that Brady is doing so well . . . Sounds like he may be a linebacker one day.
Spring break is nearly gone for me, and I barely got to read anything! I finished The First Council and started Nefertiti (thanks for the suggestion Cici, I am loving it), but mostly I have been working around the house and yard and checking papers that didn't get done before spring break.
I think I will give the group read a try, if it is on kindle. Anyone else?

OMG. I have been back at school three days and already have a mountain of papers to check.
As for teaching though, I found a perk. My car had a problem with the wheel clunk assembly (don't know what that is or what it does) and the car was 800 miles over the waranty. Usually this spells big bucks, but when you go to the local dealer where you have had the owner's three kids in class, the head of service's kid, and the main receptionists kids and they all love you - well it was like those 800 miles never existed. No charge and a free car wash! But I still don't wanna check those papers.

I am starting up classes again April 20th~~!!! I am feeling the pressure already! So Jenn we shall send each other strength! I miss you guys dearly.
How coincidentally after I got out of the hospital, (mind you I just moved to Alabama and have no family or friends- my mom was on business travel out of state) and I goto drag myself to Walgreens to get my much needed medications only to find out my car bettery died! ARGHHHHHHHH.....
Are we on the same wave length? School drama, and car related disparages?

The weather here has been so rainy, I feel like I live in Seattle! But it is good for the garden and the grass seed I planted, so I will try to be patient and have kind thoughts toward Mother Nature.
Jennifer,
How are your classes coming along? What classes are you taking and where?

I agree! We have been slacking lately. I have been up to the usual end-of-the-school-year busywork and getting my yard in order. Not as exciting as Cici's spring, but time consuming nontheless. My neighbor has a new rooster. It goes off at all times of the day and night, it is annoying and interrupts my sleep. Luckily, my neighbor's wife hates it more than I do, so it may not be with us much longer.
I am reading the 3rd or 4th in the Chrissy McMullen series. they are cute, quick reads. I have a couple of books on deck, also, including the current group read, Any Witch Way.
Going to read for a few minutes before heading off to dreamland, where I hope the rooster has no plans of showing up.

My alarm to wake me up is a rooster call and it is LOUD, but I get right up to shut it off, right away. Too bad you can't shut your rooster off.

Hahahahaha! Maybe I can sneak a coyote in to turn my rooster off permanently! I had a neighbor where I used to live that let their dog bark all the time, too. I used to wonder how they could not hear it, same as you. Why have a dog if you don't want to be around it?

HOT! I am a northern girl and I do not like this 90 degree stuff. Come on Mother Nature, give us some high 70s or low 80s! We will still swim - we are northern girls! We are tough! But we wilt in the heat.
I saw a story on the news tonight that some thieves are stealing air conditioners right out of people's back yards for scrap metal - they will only get chump change for them, too! They are targeting senior citizens. We are having a heat wave (I refer you to my previous post). I wish I was rich - I would hire someone to go and put new air conditioners in with those locking cages - little old ladies need their air conditioning.

Omigoodness! That is horrible!! WHat is wrong with people?!?
Yes, it is very hot, we usually try to hold off on the air conditioning but it is definetly on!

Bob,
Thank you! We try to get on as often as possible to talk with everyone, we hope to make you feel welcome. I'm sure our other moderator, Steven will be on soon to talk with you as well :)
So you're reading the girl who kicked the hornets nest, I'm assuming you read the first 2? I really enjoyed his books, though they are a little difficult to get into, they are worth it. My favorite out of the 3 is the 'girl who played with fire'
Right now, I would have to say the books I'm mostly into are the dystopian and historial fiction and young adult, I read just about anything but those are the books that I seem to be going for lately.
By the way, I love the Brittish accent. :) It's so smart and proper sounding.

New Haven is in Michigan, the one shaped like a mitten with all the lakes around it (we are very proud and protective of the Great Lakes - it's a rule if you hail from Michigan). It is below the thumb and close to Detroit (that city should be on a world map, it is pretty big). I know that most Americans expect that everyone in the world knows all of our states, but that is just ridiculous, isn't it?
I enjoy mysteries, thrillers (not too scary, I am a chicken at heart), some historical fiction, celebrity biographies, and just good, well-written, well-plotted fiction with great characters (is that too much to ask??). I never dedicate more than 50 pages to a book, if the author cannot grab me by then, I donate it to the library (or delete it from my kindle). There are too many good ones out there to waste time and brain space on a yucky book.
Cheerio! (sorry, I couldn't resist!)

Do Americans really think English accents CUTE!
Obviously as I come from the home counties i speak BBC english so no accent whatsoever!!

New York accent I think I know as we have Wimbledon on at the moment John Mcenroe is on TV all the time.

OMG Cici - We have serious midwestern accents. So nasally and the "a" in cat drives others crazy. We are not as bad as the yoopers, though. But we definately have the accent. I came from northern Minnesota, ya, fer sure, and now I have a mostly midwestern accent, except for words with long "o", like boat and vote.

Robert, most American women dig the English accent in a big way. It is very hot. Do people over there dig American accents? Do they just think we are obnoxious?
Wimbledon is on over here, too. In fact for the last two days it has been pre-empting my mother's (OK, mine, too) soap opera, "Days of Our Lives", and she is ticked off about it. John McEnroe's accent is not too bad, but when I think of a New York accent, I always think Brooklyn - like Robert DeNiro in Taxi Driver.

Bob, what's a home county?

The home counties are the counties that border London I live in Hertfordshire which is one of them. When you mention home counties here gives the impression of being posh ( which I am not)
My dear friends, I will be offline now until around July 13 as I will be chaperoning a dozen or so students on a school trip to Costa Rica. Should be fun, but I have been having all sorts of nightmares and honestly, I can't wait for it to be over so I can get back to my hum drum life and relax until I am required to return to school. Have a great beginning of July, I will take a couple of books with me on the kindle, but I hope I am enjoying myself too much to read.
Just got back from Costa Rica and I will say that it was absolutely mind-blowing! We went white-water rafting, zip-lining, horseback riding, bathed in the hot springs, climbed a volcano - there were many times I felt I was in the middle of a Michael Crichton book. Back to reality - my gardens need serious attention. Hope you are all well and enjoying summer. I notice it is gettting dark a little earlier, I will ignore the fact that in three months we could very well have snow here . . .

WOW! That trip sounds AMAZING! Hopefully you took lots of pictures and you should write down all your highlights and funny parts of the trip to look back on!
Steven, I found this on the Internet about the Kobo reader from Borders. Hope this answers your question.

So it has been sunny, hot, and humid (no rain) here for about 5 weeks straight. I made plans with some friends for a girls day on the boat - morning thunderstorms, windy and clouds the rest of the day. CRAP! Michigan weather!
