I just looked up Hanford, and duh I always hear about the decommissioned aspect and the abundance of nuclear waste, am shocked to learn it still is operational.
from wiki: "The weapons production reactors were decommissioned at the end of the Cold War, but the manufacturing process left behind 53 million U.S. gallons (204,000 m³) of high-level radioactive waste that remains at the site.[5] This represents two-thirds of the nation's high-level radioactive waste by volume.[6] Today, Hanford is the most contaminated nuclear site in the United States[7][8] and is the focus of the nation's largest environmental cleanup.[2] While most of the current activity at the site is related to the cleanup project, Hanford also hosts a commercial nuclear power plant, the Columbia Generating Station, and various centers for scientific research and development, such as the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the LIGO Hanford Observatory."

this is about sustaining ourselves without funding ME interests. After 10 years when we are using Hydrogen then we can sell off what we are not using for high density plastics (building skyscrapers) and any other numerous gadgets. Or too or not friend, friend china.

Nothing worthwhile is.

Not true, Tom. Lemonade makes for a nice compliment to Soylent Green. When you're eating processed human flesh, you want a refreshing drink to wash down that gamy taste. Coke is way too carbonated for that.

Interesting.
Personally, a nice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon goes nicely with shards of flesh stripped from human buttocks.

How dare you besmirch the good name that is PBR, sir?
So processed human flesh is like car paint, is that what you're saying? Does that mean my car's exterior color is that of processed human flesh?
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

I assume (Matt Groening grew up in Portland) that Hanford is actually the model for the Springfield nuclear plant on The Simpsons. The cooling tower was blown up a couple of years ago, and if it hadn't happened at 6 am on a weekday, I totally would have gone to watch.
ETA: Upon further review, I've conflated Hanford out in eastern Washington and the one that was on the Columbia about 40 miles north of Portland. Hanford: Still operating, and the most contaminated nuclear site in the US. The other one (I'm having trouble finding the name): Had the really cool-looking cooling tower which has since been blown up, still pretty contaminated, probably the inspiration for Springfield.
ETAA: Shit, yeah! I totally forgot about that! The one near Portland was called...get this, it's hilarious...the Trojan plant. So there's a nuclear plant and a condom named after the losing end of a war, in which their only notable success was sneaking in disguised as a gift, then spewing enemy soldiers (or enemy sperm, or enemy radiation?) in the dead of night when it was least expected. I'd just automatically assume that both the Trojan condom and the Trojan nuclear plant would leak dangerous stuff.
