Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Just finished up Derik's Bane - hilarious! About to start Erin McCarthy's High Stakes.

message 102: by southpaw285 (new)

southpaw285 | 588 comments I am currently reading The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley. This is my first Jennifer Ashely book, and I am really enjoying it.

message 103: by Claire Mojieski (new)

Claire Mojieski I just finished A Reliable Wife which I loved! Now I am reading Through a Glass Darkly. I actually shouldn't say that I'm reading it because all I've done so far is pull it off the bookshelf and put it on the end table. Haven't even opened it yet, but hopefully now that all my Christmas shopping is done I'll have more spare time to read!

message 104: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) I am trying to read Spectre. Note the word trying. Not that there is anything wrong with the book--actually I'm quite enjoying it. Its just that December is such a busy month, finding time to do anything is really difficult. But I WILL get it read before the end of this week, no matter what. :o) My hubbys goes on vacation starting tomorrow, so I'm not sure HOW much time I'll have to do any reading for the next 2 weeks. But I'll keep plugging away at this book--and all the others on my TBR pile that I wanted to get read this month.

I have this book sitting on my bed. It's going to be what I read when I finish the 2 Julie Garwood novels, Gentle Warrior and The Lion's Lady.

Kelly Starting It's In His Kiss It's In His Kiss (Bridgertons, #7) by Julia Quinn

Just finished Vampire Academy Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead

message 107: by Nikki ♥ (new)

Nikki ♥ Finished Cold As Ice by Anne Stuart I loved it. Now starting Dance With The Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

message 108: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (theholyterror) | 303 comments I started both Bloody Good by Georgia Evans and [image error] yesterday. Bloody Good is different than anything I've read, in a good way. Wolfsbane and Mistletoe has been kind of hit-or-miss, but that's how it normally is for me and anthologies.

I'm loving it so far, I'm a sucker for tortured heros.

message 111: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) Well, after 4.5 days I finally finished Spectre. I have way too much to do this month and am NOT getting enough reading time. Sigh. I'm going to try to start Fanged & Fabulous today--if this headache (really bad sinus one) ever lets up.

Melissa (So Cal Gal) | 35 comments Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously
by Julie Powell

message 113: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) its Almost 5 pm my time, and after nursing this headache all day, its finally easing up. NOT in time to do me any good, since I've spent most of the day curled up in the bed with no lights or sound. So I'm still behind on my reading for this month. Normally I'd have read 16 to 20 books by now--but I'm only at my 6th for the month. But, I've finished my Christmas shopping (except for picking up some Christmas bags to put presents in) so at least I don't have to worry about that, and it MIGHT free up a little more time for me to read this year.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Just finished Angels' Blood--it is good stuff!

If you like Singh's Psy-Changeling series you will like this. If you didn't like Singh's Psy-Changeling series, you should give this series a shot. I think I like it more than the Psy-changeling series.

message 126: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 367 comments I agree, Cherra. I'm looking forward to Archangel's Kiss.

I'm about to pick up Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde, and I'm still working on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

message 127: by Amy (new)

Amy Reading Table Manners by Mia King.

message 128: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) Ya know--I'm so frazzled I can't even remember the title of the book I'm half way through reading. Sigh, Dec is such a busy month. And now, the "granddaughter" (17 y.o. foreign exchange student my daughter and her family host) is having a minor meltdown because her Christmas presents that she had her Mum back in Thailand buy and mail to her haven't arrived. She's just worried sick that she won't have presents under the tree for anyone on Christmas day. So, tomorrow, on CHRISTMAS EVE I have to take her shopping. Not something that I'm really looking forward to. We've told her just to get something small, since we figured that the boys (11 and 13) will LOVE having Christmas stretch out--and out--and out. :o)

message 129: by Nikki ♥ (new)

Nikki ♥ Tonight I'm starting Maggy's Child by Karen Robards.

message 130: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 1890 comments I'm reading The Christmas Countess by Adrienne Basso.

message 131: by Storm (new)

message 132: by tosca (new)

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Finishing off the last couple of books in my Dec monthly challenge - one of which is Addicted by Charlotte Featherstone - and looking forward to a whole heap more over the break. For us here in NZ it is, officially, Christmas Day (12.07am to be exact). So, merry Christmas everybody :-)

Addicted by Charlotte Featherstone

message 133: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) just finished reading Seduced by the Night which is book 2 in the Night Slayers series. I'm probably going to put off any more reading til after Christmas, since I have a ton of things to do today (including taking the 17 y.o. granddaughter last minute shopping) so I know I'm not going to have any time til after we celebrate Christmas tomorrow. :o) I'm also NOT going to check GR again til tomorrow (I mean, it, really--trying to convince myself that I can go that long without going into withdrawal. :oP)

I have Dr. Andersen's books to read. She and the WARDen are buddies and I'm hoping her books are as good. Keep us posted?

I have the second one. I'm just waiting until January to read it.

message 137: by Storm (new)

Storm (stormgerlock) I really want the second one.... I have to wait for Christmas money to buy it.

message 138: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) I just finished reading The Prophecy of the Stones. I actually found this book from the "What's the Name of that Book" GR group. Someone had been looking for it, and from what they said about it, I decided to find it and read it too. Its a YA, but quite good.

message 139: by Amy (new)

Amy That is a good book. I read it a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

message 140: by Mel W (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Finished up Lori Foster's Causing Havoc last night after we returned home from spending Christmas Day at the neighbour's. Then today hid in my bedroom and spent the day reading Lisa Kleypas' Devil in Winter - bliss! I'm now starting When Strangers Marry, again by Lisa Kleypas.

Definitely.

So far the background research and world-building are pretty excellent...but the romance is pretty nil.

message 142: by Amy (new)

Amy I"m reading Lucky Break by Carly Phillips.

On a side note, I love everything that Lori Foster writes. Causing Havoc was a great one.

message 143: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) just finished reading Tall, Dark & Fangsome, the last book in its series. Its only taken 5 books for poor old Sarah to finally get her HEA. :o) Well, actually 5 fairly amusing books.

message 144: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited Dec 26, 2009 10:54PM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) My challenges are suffering this month. You'd think being snowed in by 3 blizzard's this month would increase my reading time, but in reality I had to clear 3 driveways multiple times. (2 with a snow shovel, 1 with a borrowed snowblower). The last 2 days I've been out 3 times each day just to clear my own driveway and my neighbors. (On Christmas Day from midnight to midnight we got 9.5 inches of snow along with gusts of wind up to 58mph to really blow it around causing massive drifts.) I'm either too busy or too exhausted to read. In 5 days I've only gotten 78 pages into a standard harlequin which I can normally read in one day. I'm reading Her Desert Dream by Liz Fielding which is part 2 in her Trading Places two-parter.

message 145: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 367 comments Having trouble picking what to read. I just started Fired Up by Jayne Ann Krentz and Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde, but I'm having trouble getting into Shades. May focus more attention on Fired Up, as I love the Arcane Society--past and present.

Also I was listening to Summer Knight, the 4th Harry Dresden by Jim Butcher, but I switched to Firestorm by Nevada Barr when it came up on hold for me at the library. I am enjoying both, but the library copy comes before the copy I own.

message 146: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) Briansgirl--don't feel too badly about challenges suffering. I've only finished ONE of my challenges this month--and I only JUST finished it. It was 9 specified books from my tbr pile. Busy, busy, busy is what they should change December's name to. :o)

Normally I read 1 to 1.5 books a day (sometimes I can even get in 2) but this month I've read only 11 books (3 were library books which HAD to get back to the library because others had them reserved.)

We had 18 inches of snow last weekend--and the first white Christmas in like 45 or so years here where I live. That was more snow than the last 6 years COMBINED. And it was our second snow of the year.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Enjoy your white christmas Ann. The snowplows finally came by last night so I spent my entire morning digging out both mine and my neighbor's, then drove across town to help get my Dad's neighbor's double wide driveway unburied (and for some reason, her's was twice as deep). I finally, now, picking up my book. It's the second half of a 2-part series but I'm getting a little tired of Harlequin's overdone Sheihk's.

message 148: by southpaw285 (last edited Dec 27, 2009 04:16PM) (new)

southpaw285 | 588 comments Currently I am reading Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor....for my read the month challenge.

message 149: by Valorie (new)

Valorie | 2218 comments I just finished Red (Dead World, #1) by Jordan Summers and really enjoyed it. It was kind of a Sci-Fi-ish paranormal romance about werewolves. A really good 1st book in the series. A really strong heroine lead character, which I love! I moving on to Eve of Destruction (Marked, Book 2) by S.J. Day next.

message 150: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) I just finished reading The Saint-Germain Chronicles by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. Actually it was a re-read. But I don't really feel up to starting something "new" right now, since I have a bunch of challenges starting on Friday, and I'm saving the books I have here in the house that I haven't read for THAT. :o)
