"We are back to square one. Remember last time? Kahlan was fine, but then she saw us together and she could very well do it again. So, as of right now, we are just friends.And, as friends, I'd appriciate it if you didnt do that." Susannah said.

Jacob felt like someone had just punched him in the stomach but he nodded. "I understand," he said.
Susannah nodded, already feeling really bad. "I have to go." she said softly, and then she all but ran away. She couldnt stand there, and watch him...looking like that, she had to leave.
Jacob watched after her for a moment then turned and walked the opposite direction his head down.
Some tears fell down Susannah's face, but she was determined not to break down. At least, not until she got home. She was the one who chose this, no matter how good her reasons were. So she would not allow herself to cry too much because odds are, she had hurt jacob more than he had hurt her while under Kahlan's spell.
Jacob kept looking over his shoulder hoping to find Susannah.
One foot in front of the other. One, two, one, two Susannah thought in her head, to keep her going forward.
Jacob got to his house and flopped down on the couch. "Something wrong?" Kahlan asked as if she hadn't just ordered him to kill someone.
Jacob glared at her and almost growled.
Susannah got to her house, ignored her mom when she asked, "Is something wrong?" and threw herself on her bed, refusing to cry.
"What'd I do?" Kahlan asked."Yeah," Jacob said. "You ruin everything, just go away and leave me alone."
"But Jake..."
"Get out of my house."
Susannah's mom peeked her head in, "Suze, is everything ok?" she asked."No." Susannah said.
"You want to talk about ti?"
"Not right now."
Susannah's mom left again, worried.
Jacob laid back on the couch and looked at his phone thinking about calling Susannah.
Susannah couldn't hold still, so she started to pace her room, thinking. And thinking. And thinking. What else could she do?
Jacob slowly dialed Susannah's number and pressed call.
Susannah jumped at the noise of her phone ringing, before she picked it up and said, "Hello?"
"Jacob?" Susannah asked, confused as to why he would be calling, but overjoyed to hear his voice, and she had to work hard at not showing it, at sounding casual, because it wasnt fair to him for her to be going back and forth.
"Yeah," Jacob said. "Sorry I was just calling because... because, um I don't know why exactly, I just kind of did."
"That's ok." Susannah said. "I, um, wasn't doing anything important." I wasnt doing anything at ALL. she thought to herself.
"Yeah me neither," Jacob said thinking the same thing.
"So, um...hi." Susannah said, since they never really said the most basic thing that people say while talking on the phone.
Susannah couldn't help but smile. "So...was there a point to this phone call?"
"If hearing your voice counts as a point," Jacob said sheepishly.
"You hear my voice...two hours ago." Susannah countered.
Susannah rolled her eyes, but she was smiling anyway. "So, what have you been up to? In the last two hours." she asked.
"Sitting on my couch," Jacob said. "You?"
"Moving. From my bed, to my feet, to my bed. I've been bored." she said.
"Wanna maybe hang out?" Jacob asked. It was around midnight and there was nothing to do but if he was with Susannah he would be alright.
"Ok, sure." Susannah said. She glanced at her clock. It was later than she had thought. Oh, well. she said, not really letting it bother her.
"See you in a little while," Jacob said already running down the street on the way.
"Ok, see you." Susannah said. She hung up, and went to the bathroom ro clean her face since it was still scratched and dirty from what happened with Kahlan. She didnt do anything to try to hide the bruise though, but only because she couldnt. She'd never learned how to use make up, thinking it was pointless since she was in the woods most of the time anyway, so she never learned. Something her mom was trying to convence her to learn.
Jacob was up the tree by Susannah's room, opened it, and was in Susannah's room before she came back in.
Susannah walked back into her room, but she didnt notice Jacob was there, and just sat on her bed.
"Hi," Jacob said leaning on the wall by he window.
Susannah jumped, startled, and looked over at him. "Do you even know the definition of a door?" she asked.
"The definition yes, how to use one no," Jake joked
Susannah laughed. "I'll have to teach you some time."
"Yeah sometime," Jacob laughed but stopped when he saw how bad the bruise on Susannah's face was. "Oh god Susannah I'm sorry." He reached out and stroked her cheek with the back of his hand.
"It's fine. It'll go away." Susannah said quickly, looking away.
Jacob sat next to Susannah on the bed and lifted her chin to get a better look at the bruise. "Anything else?" He asked, referring to any more injuries that he inflicted.{{srry-- multi-tasking.}}
"I think I have a bruised rib, but I haven't exactly gone to the doctor. I planned to do that tomorrow.I don't know, tell my mom I fell down a hill or something." Susannah said.
Jacob put his hand on the bottom of Susannah's shirt. "Do you mind?" He asked.
Susannah shook her head. "No, but when did you become a doctor?"
Jacob shook his head. "Not a doctor," he smiled lifting the shirt just alittle, "I'm concerned that's all. I am the one who caused all this," he ran his fingers over a bruise on Susannah's side.
Susannah rolled her eyes. "It's not all your fault."
"It is actually," Jacob said, "all my fault. I couldn't get over the fact that it was better for both of us to just be friends." You still can't, he reminded himself.
