"I think I can help," Rebeca said. "Without doing something as crazy as before."

Christian sighed, "I don't need your help," he said.
Rebecca ignore him while she reached into her pocket to get the ball of light she had gotten from Susannah.
Christian's eyes glanced down at her pocket, noticing the glow of the magic even before she'd taken it out. "What's that?" he asked, though had an idea.
"Something from Susannah," Rebecca said, holding it out infront of them.
The orb pushed some of the suffocating shadows away, enough that the tension eased from Christian's shoulders, and the darkness left his eyes. It didn't last long, however, as the light could only fight the darkness for a couple of minutes before flickering out.
Rebecca stomped her foot in frustration.
Christian laughed at her frustration. "Seriously, Rebecca, it'll pass. It always does."
"Well it sucks that it has to happen in the first place," Rebecca said.
Christian shrugged. "Believe it or not, you get used to it." he walked back inside the house.
Rebecca followed him in, and wrapped her arms around him in the first hug she could ever remember giving him.
Christian froze. Then he wrapped his arms around her tightly in return, trembling. "I hate it." he said shakily, the first time he'd ever honestly confided anything in her.
"I know," Rebecca said gently, holding him tighter.
Christian suddenly pulled back. "Anyway," he said, running a hand through his hair. "I'm fine." He turned and headed towards his room.
Rebecca watched after him for a minute before deciding it was best to just leave him be.
Christian closed his door louder than he'd meant to, and didn't come out for the rest of the day.
Rebecca sighed, and went back to Zach's house to apologize for getting so mad.
Zach was pacing back and forth across his porch.
Rebecca pulled up, still trying to figure out what to say.
Zach saw her pull up, but stayed on his porch.
Rebecca went up to the porch, looking down at her feet. "I'm sorry," she said softly.
Zach sighed and reached out to take her hand, using it to pull her to him before wrapping his other arm around her. "Don't be," he said. "You asked be not to tell him, but I did anyway. I just couldn't stand to see you like that. I'm sorry."
"You shouldn't be sorry," Rebecca said shaking her head. "You were just looking out for me. Thank you."
Zach kissed the top of her head softly. "Always." he said. "Even if you get mad at me."
Rebecca hugged him tightly, pressing her face into his chest.
"How is he?" Zach asked, running his fingers through her hair.
Rebecca shrugged. "I guess he'll be okay," she said.
"Then there's no reason to worry." Zach said, pulling back to look at her. "Want to go for a walk?"
Zach took her hand and started walking.
Rebecca followed, threading their fingers together.
Zach kept glancing at het from the corner of his eye.
"Everything okay?" Rebecca asked, noticing.
Rebecca leaned her head against his shoulder while they walked.
Zach slid his hand from hers to wrap his arm around her waist.
Rebecca smiled and wrapped an arm around him in return.
"I love you too," Rebecca said, turning to smile at him.
When she turned, Zach kissed her softly.
Rebecca kissed him back lightly, wrapping her arms loosely around her neck.
"I have to go," Zach said, pulling back to look at her.
Rebecca nodded, not looking to pleased about it.
"Patrick wanted to meet with me," Zach said apologetically in explanation for his sudden departure. "But I'll call you as soon as I'm finished talking to him, and if you're still up, I'll come over. Ok?"
"Alright," Rebecca said, then offered, "I could also come. I don't know about Caroline, but I'm pretty sure Patrick likes me."
"He was very adamant that I come alone. You'd think he was doing highly classified work with how hung up he was about it." Zach said, shrugging.
"Okay," Rebecca said. "I'll see you later." She gave him a kiss on the cheek then turned to heard back to her car.
Zach continued walking towards the café where Patrick told him to meet him.
When Rebecca got home she knocked on Christians door then poked her head inside. "Can I come in?" She asked.
