Sabrina sat with her knees pulled up to her chest, her chin resting on them, and she stared straight ahead.

Alek cautiously put his hand on her back, rubbing it gently.
Alek pulled his hand away. "You're going to make me go deeper aren't you?"
A sneer twisting her lips was her only reply.
Alek put his hands on either side of her head and went in deeper."
Now the area was surrounded with golden light from golden flames, the flames casting shadows on the white walls of the room. There wasn't anyone else to be seen.
Alek looked around, not sure what he was looking for.
"This is what your lovely shadowboy has been referring to as her soul. Really, it's more of a life or energy source. But I guess he's right in that if you remove it, she's gone." Adrians voice seemed to drift from every corner of the room.
"And you want to kill her why?" Alek asked.
"Because Jacob and his firestarter pissed me off." Adrian said.
"It was your own fault," Alek said.
"Doesn't really matter to me." she said.
"Seriously, the guy stands there and lets you throw knives at him and you don't wait to make sure the job is done? It's common sense."
"Let's just say I was wondering what the outcome would be. if I had stayed, things would not have gotten. nearly as interesting. I probably wouldn't have even run into Balthazar. "
"So you wanted to see what would happen if he didn't die?" Alek asked.
"I wondered if he was strong enough to live. He was. i have to say it was a bit disappointing."
"You can't be pissed because you screwed up the deal," Alek said. "He did his best to let you kill him. You let him live."
"That's not what I'm mad about." Adrian said. "Their existence pisses me off. But I'm keeping my end of the bargain and leaving his girl alone. no one ever said anything about this one."
"The deal was you don't go after her," Alek said. "Killing her sister because you don't like her is an attack on her."
"I don't see it that way." Adrian replied.
"That's because you're insane," Alek shrugged. "Now are you gonna come out here? I much prefer talking to people face to face."
"Nope. I'm actually going to leave. I just needed you to know that my brother and I are on the same team again, and what we're capable of. Its no fun breaking someone if they don't even know what they're up against." Adrian said, her voice fading as she left.
Alek withdrew from her mind, blinking rapidly as he re-entered his own.
Sabrina sat up slowly as her headache receded. "What happened?" she asked.
"Adrian," Alek said. "She's pissy Jacob isn't dead and decided to take it out on you because the deal was she can't hurt Susannah."
Sabrina groaned. "At least that explains things."
"Also she and the brother have started working together again," Alek said. "But on the bright side your head is yours again."
Sabrina nodded. "Thank you." she said gratefully.
"Anything for you love," Alek said.
Sabrina stood, "Let's get out of here" she said, pausing just long enough to thank Christian for his help, and give him a hug that he intentionally let last just a little too long.
Alek glared at him as he said an abrupt thanks and left, sliding his arm around Sabrina's waist possessively.
Christians eyes narrowed at them behind Sabrinas back as he watched them leave.Sabrina slid an arm easily around Alek in return,
Alek glanced back at Alek with a triumphant smirk, then shut the door behind them.
"Hey Alek?" Sabrina said as they walked.
"If Adrian brought you back, its probably for nothing good. But even then, do you think we could postpone talking to my mom, just for today, and just spend some time together, like a normal couple, just for one day?" Sabrina asked shyly.
"Sure," Alek said. "What do you want to do?"
Sabrina thought for a second. "Can we go back Where we were this morning?" she asked.
"Sure thing love," Alek said. "Let's just hope Jacob isn't still out for me."
"He has no reason to be." Sabrina said ad she got into the car.
"So what? If people only did what they had a reason for there wouldn't as many murderers in the world," Alek said, getting in on his side.
"Yeah, But Jacobs not a crazy murderer," Sabrina said, buckling up. "I would hope he'd have more sense."
"I find that not having hope or expectations of people makes life less disappointing," Alek shrugged, pulling away from the curb.
"My mom is something else altogether. I was thinking of you, actually." Sabrina said. "I have high expectations of you, and you haven't disappointed me yet."
"I'm sure the multiple times I tried to kill you weren't disappointing at all," Alek said.
Sabrina shook her head. "They were...annoying. Not disappointing. Although, I suppose never being disappointed can be a bad thing. I always expect Henry to be a creeper and he has let me down once either."
"Nope, he just turned out to be someone else entirely," Alek said.
