"Do you want to watch something?" He asked, passing her the remote.
" no, I'm good. "Susannah said, passing it back.
Jacob put the remote down and sat back, watching her out of the corner of his eye.
" I'm sorry I cried all over you earlier. " Susannah said.
"You don't have to apologize," Jacob said.
" can I ask you something?" Susannah asked.
" what does this mean? "Susannah asked pointing to the flame and wolf symbol on his ring.
"You," he pointed to the flame. "And me," he pointed to the wolf.
Jacob took a lock of her hair and brought it around for her to see. "Think of something that makes you angrier than you've ever been before," He said trying to get her hair to light.
Susannahs mind flew to the unknown person who killed her mother, and as her face twisted in anger, her hair lit, and she screamed.
Jacob took her face in his hands. "Just take a deep breath and relax, then it'll go out," he said.
Susannah took some deep breaths, but it was more like hyperventilation, and the flames only lengthened.
"Susannah, you have to calm down," Jacob said firmly.
Susannah whimpered, but finally managed to calm down enough for her hair to go out.
Jacob sighed and tucked her hair behind her hair behind her ear. "Are you okay?"
"We'll incase it wasn't obvious, that's why you ate the flame," Jacob said.
" I'm going to bed. See you later. "Susannah said, standing and walking back to her room.
Susannah dug around the room until she found something to sleep in, then she laid down, and stared at the ceiling.
Jacob changed into a pair of sweat pants and went to bed.
When Susannah finally drifted to sleep, her sleep was plagued with the worst nightmares she'd ever had, that she could remember, anyway. Witches and vampires and werewolves. And fire. Fire everywhere, threatening to incinerate her, or drive her toward the supernatural creatures that awaited between the flames. And her mother, dead and lifeless in a doorway. It wasn't long before she was screaming and thrashing.
Jacob woke to the sound of her screaming and ran to her room.
Susannah was tangled in her sheets, drenched in a cold sweat, and was sobbing.
Jacob sat on the edge of the bed and pulled her into his lap. "Relax, it was just a dream," he said soothingly, rubbing her back.
" don't touch me! "Susannah shrieked, scrambling away from him, eyes wide with fear.
"Okay," Jacob said putting his hand up to try to keep her calm. "Just talk to me, tell me what happened in your nightmare."
" so many different things. That girl Rebecca? She had red eyes and drained all the blood from some guy. There was this guy, and he changed into me, pretended to be me. And you... You turned into this scary -as -hell giant wolf. In retrospect, that's all crazy. But if was so real. I also saw my mother. And there was fire everywhere, and I didn't know why. " Susannah said softly.
Jacob didn't respond for a while, trying to decide whether he should tell her that it was all real, so he just wrapped an arm around her comfortingly.
"Susannah, I have to show you something," Jacob said getting up.
"Just come outside with me," Jacob said, holding his hand out to her.
Susannah walked outside, but didn't take his hand.
Jacob went out and took of his sweats. "You should probably stand back," he said, a tremor running down his spine.
Susannah stepped back, and averted her eyes.
Jacob shuddered again then tore out of his skin.
Susannah saw something move from the corner of her eye, and when she turned her head to look at him, she screamed.
Jacob padded over to her and slid his muzzle under her hand, nuzzling into gently.
Susannah whimpered, and stepped back.
Susannah eyed him warily, and hesitantly touched his fur.
Jacob closed his eyes and wagged his tail.
Though the last thing shed wanted to do was smile since she found out about her mom, Susannah couldn't help but smile as she rubbed behind his ears.
Jacob's tounge lolled out of the side of his mouth while his tail wagged faster, thumping on the floor.
Susannah laughed, and was surprised by how familiar it all felt, laughing with a wolfed out Jacob.
Jacob licked her hand affectionately.
