I started and already it is spooooky. It took me back to 2020 and the pandemic only this book was published in 2018.
Wow spooky Alfie? This should be a good Halloween season novel.Haven't started yet but as soon as I see the assigned reading sections I plan to join.
Thinking it may be much easier to read a spooky novel with a group.
Looking forward to discussing the innies with you.
Planning to join another virtual book club discussion led by The Broward County Library Director of Library Allison Grubbs.
Mid October we will be reading Buffalo Buffalo Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones.
Even though I read A LOT of thrillers especially those on the darker side... often I find myself dipping my toes into the horror pond, I often find myself jumping right out again.
But in this case I feel I might have some support from fellow readers. We will see how that works out. I've really wanted to read this book.
Looking forward to discussing Severance with all of you.
Happy Halloween 🎃 season !

It's not a horror book and I wonder if I read this in 2018, I would have like this book. I was heavily into The Walking Dead and this book is not that at all. You don't have to have zombies chasing us to create tense moments.
Mid October we will be reading Buffalo Buffalo Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones.Great book! He's one of my favorite horror authors. Love his stories thought the lens of Indigenous culture.
Maybe it’s b/c I’m listening to the audiobook but man, sometimes the character is insufferable and the story is all over the place. Just my opinion!
Welcome to the discussion of Severance by Ling Ma.So, who has requested the book from the library or bookstore? Anyone started it yet? Any thoughts so far on the writing style?
Ling Ma is an award-winning American novelist and short story writer. Has anyone read her other work? Thoughts?
Are you excited to read this one? Are post-apocalyptic novels your bag? What others have you read before?
Come on, talk to me…. 😃

Let’s break the reading schedule as such. And if you have issues with this let me know and we can try and adjust.
Prologue thru Chap 12 - - now til October 13th
Entire book open October 14th
Does that work for everyone?

Just from these opening chapters, any thoughts on the meaning of the book title? What is severed in the protagonist’s life? Anything/nothing/not sure?
