I haven't read a book by Christopher Moore yet but really want to.

Any suggestions on which of his books would be a good first?

Elena The first book I read was The Stupidest Angel A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, Version 2.0 and loved it. After that one I read A Dirty Job and didn't like it at all...
Still, I am going to try another one from him, I have Lamb The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal on my to-read list

Kathryn (kathry) A Dirty Job is one of my favorite books ever. He also has a vampire series, which I strongly recommend, and has some crossover characters with Dirty Job. Book 3 of the series is coming out soon. I would start with Bloodsucking Fiends and then You Suck A Love Story.

Amanda (aeriga) Really, A Dirty Job just didn't do it for me. I tried to read it but just couldn't get into it.

Jessica | 66 comments I think Dirty Job is more entertaining if you've read You Suck & Bloodsucking Fiends.

I didn't enjoy Practical Demonkeeping nearly as much as the above 3.

I have that, I think. I see what I can do about finding it & starting it soon! Thanks everyone!

So is the Stupidest Angel part of a series then?

Kathryn (kathry) Moore has a bunch of crossover characters in different books. The only books you really should read in any type of order are his vampire books.

Kim (mrsnesbitt) | 77 comments I loved "Lamb", and I also enjoyed his book about the sea monster, but the title escapes me at the moment....

I don't think I've ever read a book about a sea monster... :) I might have to search that one out!

message 10: by Sandy (new)

Sandy My favorite was Bloodsucking Fiends.

Kim (mrsnesbitt) | 77 comments It's called "The lust lizard of melancholy cove". I knew I'd think of it!

message 12: by Torianne (new)

Torianne The first book I read of Christopher Moore's works was "A Dirty Job." I loved the main character's sense of humor. I laughed so much throughout the whole book.

Michelle (lifeasabooknerd) My first Moore book was A DIRTY JOB and I absolutely loved it. I have also read the vampire books, LAMB (one of my favorite books ever!) and THE STUPIDEST ANGEL and have a few more on the shelves to get to, but I'm taking my time because he's one of my favorite authors and I don't want to get caught up and have to wait for more books!

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 44 comments I really enjoyed Bloodsucking Fiends.

Book 3 actually has been out for a few months now. It's called Bite Me (Love Story, #3) by Christopher Moore .

Melodie (melodieco) I loved the Vampire series and also loved A DIRTY JOB. THE ISLAND OF THE SEQUINED LOVE NUN was a good one, too.

Jax (anti-cato) | 9 comments Read "Lamb" first and then "Fool", I feel these two books really showcase his style of writing.

It helps if you know anythign about Catholicism and Shakespeare when you read these two, being satires.

AH I just discovered Christopher Moore's books recently and I really did enjoy them. I read Bloodsucking Fiends and Bite Me. I loved his take on vampires. The characters were all crazy and zany and my favorite was the 15 year old Goth girl that narrarated - Abby Normal. She was hilarious.
