Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
I'm so glad I discovered this group. My name is Matthew Curry. I don't read nearly as much as I would like to, but I still make time for it. Last week, I finished "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. Right now, I'm reading a "Star Trek" paperback novel. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I love those. I've just written and illustrated my first book. It's a young adult sci-fi novel called "Under the Electric Sun." It's now available on Kindle. My blog:

That sounds interesting
I like reading your posts. I have been writing for a long time. First my stories were only one page, but then they became longer and longer. I've discovered if I'm not writing for a longer period my mind goes haywire and I become extremely unhappy. You can read an excerpt of my first novel here; http://postdoos.blogspot.ie/2012/10/m...A hard copy will be available on Feed a read some.
Hi everyone. My next radio interview will be with Host Janet Pfeiffer of Anger 9-1-1 Radio on Wednesday, April 17th, from 9:00 AM - 9:35 AM, as I discuss my journey through anger, addiction and incarceration. It promises to be a very uplifting and enlightening segment that you will not want to miss! http://www.anger911.net/ Click on the purple mic and enjoy! Hey everyone! I'm Deb. I live in Pennsylvania on an Amish farm. My son & I both work in at large chain bookstore. Working a great deal of the time in the children's dept., young readers is my thing. But I must admit, the "age limits" really bother me! Young readers is for 8 & up. I am 55 and some of the best books are young readers. Young readers just means you don't get the language and sexual situations. So if you haven't checked it out lately for yourself, do yourself a favor & do so! You just might be surprised! Right now I am reading "The Quest Begins" by Erin Hunter. First book in the Seekers series.

Vincent wrote: "Please introduce yourself! Do you write books? Do you just enjoy reading them?Let us know a little bit more about who you are:"Hello Vincent and thanks for putting this group together. You ask if I'm a writer or reader ... I'm both, plus I write book reviews for Climateprogress.
I spent 35 years in the environmental field then retired to write ... It's been fun, and my first book, A Being Darkly Wise, is doing well. I'm at work on another.
Hello everyone!I'm Andrew and I joined Goodreads just a few days ago after self-publishing my first e-book,
. I used to work as a journalist, designer, and sub-editor for newspapers in the UK, but now live in Canada, where I work as an editor for a not-for-profit organization.Even though it's only been a few days for me on Goodreads, 'm really impressed by the quality of writing and the friendliness of people here. I'm looking forward to exploring it and getting to know more of you.
It seems like we are all authors talking to each other here, but I have a an eco-thriller out entitled "A Being Darkly Wise." Check it out if you've a mind.
Hello- My name is Cliff I am a recently self published author of a what is challenged to be labeled a self help book. I spent most of my working life in sales and sales management. I stumbled greatly in my personal life and during the time I had for reflection decided to write a book that exposes the potential pitfalls that one can encounter in this high stress work environment. Please check it out at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C09069E which is the link to the Kindle location - you can toggle between that an the paperback store.
Hi everyone. I’m Philip Maxwell a UK author of a trilogy about an American who inherits an old house in Wales and with it some ancestral obligations The trilogy is called Inheritance and I’d like to say it has everything in it: suspense, action, mysticism, betrayal, romance and sex but my wife edited the steamy passages out. Deemed too cringe inducing… that’s my chances of the ‘Bad Sex in Fiction Award’ gone!I’m currently writing and researching another novel about astral projection. I can’t say I’ve experienced any out of body experiences myself but must confess I’ve come dangerously close after one too many Australian Chardonnays.
Well, that’s probably far too much information but I’m new to Goodreads! Hoping I’ll learn something from new friends!

You go Marian! I think you'll find many of us who still enjoy the classics and new works that embrace that influence.
I am both an author and a reader of fiction and nonfiction books. My Goodreads author page is at www.goodreads.com/pzmiller and at the moment my teen book HOW TO SUCCEED IN HIGH SCHOOL AND PREP FOR COLLEGE is a Goodreads giveaway through April 24th. (Makes a terrific 8th grade graduation gift!)I ofen use real events in my fiction books -- and as a long-time feminist I like to portray strong female fictional characters.
Hi everyone, I am a writer and a reader. My first fantasy novel The Four Faces is available.I love reading and I began reviewing books on my blogs February this year.
Libertad Araceli My name is Libertad Araceli and i love to read! My favorite genres are YA, fiction that blends interracial and multi cultural characters(not erotica though), urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic and high fantasy. I like when authors choose different legends and topics to enlighten readers with because face it Vampires, angels and werewolves is getting kinda you've read one, you've read them all.
although my passion is working to see more diversity in these types of books, i'm not limited to them.
I write a blog about it if anyone was interested in reading it. My sister and I try to write twice a week in it just to give it some fresh updates

Hello. My name is Duane (should I add the requisite "I'm a writaholic" here?), and I've always loved reading and writing. I was that kid in school hiding under the bleachers during PE with a book in my hands when, obviously, I should have been doing something else (ahem, no, not that!). Of course, when you're always picked last to be on the team, and then only because they were forced to let you play, you find other avenues of escape.I started writing erotic space fantasies in my freshman year in HS, and many found them entertaining. Hmm, 9th graders and stories of sex; it all seems like a no-brainer now. ;-)
Anyway, I've decided, for better or for worse, to write a book of short stories and self-publish. It's hard to decide what to write on as there are so many thoughts in my head running rampant. I have settled on a genre and a target audience. I have several stories I am cleaning up in anticipation of the big event.
I also have a site that I use for book reviews, my writing, and just letting others know what I'm up to. It's url is www.dcmallory.com - its not a busy site, but maybe one day it will be.
Thanks for having me here.
I'm Nancy, author of non-fiction books on writing, genealogy and technology. I live in San Diego, California, and love reading almost all genres. I'm slowwwwlllyyy working on a time travel fiction book but for now my non-fiction gets most of my time and attention :)
I am an avid Twitter user @nhendrickson1 - and share a lot of links to helpful articles for writers.
Hi Everyone,My name is Gary Caruso. I’m very excited for the April 25th release of Our Souls to Keep, a paranormal romantic thriller.
It’s a beautiful story about love and redemption that will touch your heart as much as the action will make your pulse race.
Please consider adding Our Souls to Keep to your "To read" shelf and enjoy the heart-stopping, heart-wrenching journey of Wake and Annemarie.
Good morning everyone. Here is today's post on my blog, which is Chapter 2 of my book, "Jew in Jail."

Hello friends!I feel lame, but I just realized goodreads has groups. I've joined this one, and it seems like I'm going to get good advice and support.
And, shameless self promotion. My dark comedy novel The Accidental Terrorist just came out on the Kindle store for only $5. I'd love to hear your opinions on it!
Hi, thank you for creating this site. I am a reader and a writer. I read books in the historical romance, vampire, current mystery/thriller genres. I've written the first book in a series called The Mystic Princesses and the Whirlpool. I'm currently editing the second book in the series. I look forward to getting to know many of you.PJ
Hello everyone.My busy day continues!
Here is the blog interview I did today for my book, "Jew in Jail," on M/M Romance Stories by Nat Wood http://nwoodstories.blogspot.co.uk/20...
Hello All (and thanks Vincent for setting up this group.)My name is Michael Reilly. I am 46 years old and I live in Cavan, Ireland. I am a Goodreads author and I have recently published my debut novel "Misisipi"
Primarily I hope to connect with readers to whom the novel might appeal. Beyond that, I'm happy to explore other ways that I can be a productive group member.
It's late here now so I'm going to sign-off without any hard sells and look later at the correct way to present my work to you as per group rules.
Thanks for having me and have a great remainder of your Sunday.
Mike
Hello,My name is Teri from Apple Valley, CA. I am a stay at home mom for now and have picked up reading as one of my hobbies. I enjoy reading Mysteries/suspense and crime novels.
Hi All... I joined the group just a bit ago. I'm coming down from a week-long Book Blast for my latest novel. It's the first I've ever done and I have many thoughts about marketing after this experience. Mainly, how much is too much? They wanted me to post everywhere every day with links to wherever my book would be promoted that day. The first day was fine. The second day, I cringed at bothering people. The third day I wanted to upchuck. And so on.
So now, in this post, I'm just saying that I'm an author and I write contemporary romance that often has a supernatural touch. No werewolves, no vampires, I go in for much simpler stuff. And if you are interested you can find my works on my Goodreads author page and on my blog/website. http://FlorenceWitkop.com
So thanks for being patient and reading this post.
Hi there. My book _College Girl: A Memoir_College Girl: A Memoir is coming out today with Exceslior. It's about my sexual assault while I was in college. I really hope that folks in this group check it out. It took me a long time to write it. It's been well-reviewed thus far. I am guessing that some folks in this group have been through what I describe and/or know folks who have.People have asked me whether it was "cathartic" to write it. My answer is "The first 100 versions were 'cathartic.' The book you are reading has nothing to do with catharsis. But it took me all of those crappy drafts to get there."
Please let me know your thoughts on it, if you do pick it up.
Best to you,
Laura
Thanks so much, Abigail! I really appreciate your kind words. If you know of folks who will find this book helpful, please let them know. Excelsior is a small publisher-- but I have been so impressed with all of their titles. Hope you have a great day! L
Howdy!I'm Andy and I'm a thirtysomething new author from the UK. I've just finished and published my first book, The Remarkables , which is up on the Kindle store. The story has been fermenting in my mind for many years and I have experienced so much pleasure in writing it. I only hope that people enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it!
Feedback is always welcome and I'm grateful for the opportunity to join the discussion.
Best wishes
Andy
