Thanks Abigail! Like I said before, who knew it would be like this! I always have books that literally won't fit in ANY task in previous challenges. I think maybe because alot of the tasks weren't as flexible and because not as many people finished! Anyways, thanks for all your hard work fielding all of our questions! I really liked this task!
OMG, this is so much better... yeah, in a smaller season (probably next season) this would have been perfect! Thanks for being so flexible!!
I have it!!! A Book I have been meaning to re-read Night of Many Dreams A Novel by Gail Tsukiyama. I just went through and checked and none of the winners have it rated 5* and to the best of my knowledge it doesn't fit any other tasks! Yay!
Thank you, Abigail! My original choice had been knocked out by two of the new 25-pointers but this has reinstated it. Woohoo!

What a relief! I couldn't find anything!
I hadn't even tried to find a book for this task, because in the past challenges, the problem has always been that several books only one task and can't be shuffled around when I read another book that only fits the same task that I've already completed. In other words, most of the books I read fit a challenge task, I just couldn't get points for reading them.Abigail, thank you for devising such a fascinating and fiendishly challenging task & for graciously accepting the modification that makes it possible to complete. I have thoroughly enjoyed testing my books & discovering how many tasks each of them could fit!

Is 30 NOV the cut-off date for books on the Fall Winners' 5* list to count for this task?I would hate to rate a book as 5* (that I read or remembered) after someone chose it for this task.

May stick with the Other Daughter as my first choise coz reading any Shoes books is sort of 'bad form' for this high-point task.

I asked Cynthia.
If a winner rates a book as five stars AFTER the start of this challenge but BEFORE you read it, it still counts for 10.4.

All of those seem fine by me, although I just realized I couldn't see the names of the main characters in The New York Trilogy -- so make sure no one is a Lewis or Alice first.

It fits, although you could also read it for Bonnie's sci-fi task since he won the Hugo before 2000. (Hey, you could also read it for Jan's at this rate...) :)

It doesn't matter when a winner reads/read a 5-star book. If it's a five-star when the new reader reports it, it counts for 10.4 -- and therefore not for my task.

At least for my list, I have my books planned under the shelve winter_challenge so you can check to see if I am planning on reading the book you are reading for this challenge. I am pretty stingy with my 5* books though so you are likely safe at least from me :) (now you only have to worry about those other 23 other people)
Ok, I *THINK* I might have found one....Traveling with Pomegranates A Mother-Daughter Story. I have read Sue Monk Kidd before and she is not a year of the Rooster (my year). I can't find birthday info on her daughter though. It't not on the 2009 or December (my birth month) popular list. I didn't see it on the winners' lists but I didn't have a chance to go through all of them. Will this work??? Someone seeing a task it qualifies for that I missed?

I have read a book by this author before (Death by Black Hole And Other Cosmic Quandaries-great book!) and none of the challenge winners have it on their TBR. So am I in the clear?
I made sure I read the book for this task early! I read My Cousin Rachel and it worked with the new requirements for this task!

Abigail - I think I've found one, but I need clarification from you. She Got Up Off the Couch And Other Heroic Acts from Mooreland, Indiana by Haven Kimmel. It is an autobiography, but not of someone I admire. Is that okay?
Does being the second book of her memoirs make it a series?
Argh!! I was all set on "Family Pictures" and spent over an hour making sure it worked, only to get to the library and realize that I hadn't, in fact, read the other book by her that I thought I had.Back to the drawing board -- this is driving me crazy!
Would I be able to read The Lightning Thief? It's set in USA, not a 5-star book from one of the winner's of the fall challenge, Rick is American...Let me know if I've missed something out and can't read it...

Holy crap! I haven't checked this thread in a while... I'm going to rethink this task now that we're only considering 5-15 pt tasks! Abigail, you are AMAZING!
All right. I think I've got one that would work, and that I already read this month!His Lady Midnight by Jo Ann Ferguson.
Not 5.1, 2, 3 (there were no guest appearances by any royalty, fiction or non), 4, 5, 6 (if I had more guts, I could do that...), 7 (according to fantastic fiction she was born in 1953, which means she's either a snake or a dragon, and I'm a pig), 8, 9, 10.
Not 10.1, 2, 3, 4/5/6 (it's only been rated by me and one other person... and we both rated it 4 stars), 7, 8/9/10 (takes place in England).
Not 15.1, 2, 3 (it's part of a series written by a woman, but the series is about these 4 GUY friends and how they fall in love, etc.), 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (I've read 3 or 4 of her books), or 10.
Will that suffice?
