Anyways, thanks for all your hard work fielding all of our questions! I really liked this task!

Looks great!

Abigail, thank you for devising such a fascinating and fiendishly challenging task & for graciously accepting the modification that makes it possible to complete. I have thoroughly enjoyed testing my books & discovering how many tasks each of them could fit!

I would hate to rate a book as 5* (that I read or remembered) after someone chose it for this task.

I've already asked and passed, but I will ask again to make it official.
Lisa Gardner, The Other Daughter
> In Sara's list but no rating, a 4-star in Lisa's.
Paul Auster, The New York Trilogy
Noel Streatfield, Dancing Shoes or Theater Shoes
Still can't find my copy of NY Trilogy :(
May stick with the Other Daughter as my first choise coz reading any Shoes books is sort of 'bad form' for this high-point task.

READ THIS!!!

Thank you Abigail and Cynthia! I will start looking as soon as I finish my first book.

The Shrinking Man by Richard Matheson
...it works for all the obvious ones, I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

If this had been a task in the Fall challenge It would have been easy - such is life!

I would hate to rate a book as 5* (that I read or remembered) after someone chose it for this task."
I asked Cynthia.
If a winner rates a book as five stars AFTER the start of this challenge but BEFORE you read it, it still counts for 10.4.

I've already asked and passed, but I will ask again to make it official.

All of those seem fine by me, although I just realized I couldn't see the names of the main characters in The New York Trilogy -- so make sure no one is a Lewis or Alice first.

It fits, although you could also read it for Bonnie's sci-fi task since he won the Hugo before 2000. (Hey, you could also read it for Jan's at this rate...) :)

It doesn't matter when a winner reads/read a 5-star book. If it's a five-star when the new reader reports it, it counts for 10.4 -- and therefore not for my task.

Thankfully, that doesn't matter anymore!

Thanks.

That's my understanding. I guess you could just read a really bad book, and then you wouldn't have to worry. ;) Good luck!

At least for my list, I have my books planned under the shelve winter_challenge so you can check to see if I am planning on reading the book you are reading for this challenge. I am pretty stingy with my 5* books though so you are likely safe at least from me :) (now you only have to worry about those other 23 other people)

Will this work??? Someone seeing a task it qualifies for that I missed?
Thanks!

Isn't that a 25 points task? I thought this task was ammended to fit just the 5/10/15 point tasks.

Looks like it works to me. Enjoy!

Yep, as long as all those personally relevant items are checked off. Enjoy!

Just double-checked all the items again, and I'm clear on the personal ones. =)

Great! Hope it's a fun book for you!

The Pluto Files The Rise and Fall of America's Favorite Planet by Neil deGrasse Tyson
may fit your task. I am pretty sure it doesn't fit the other tasks...but then again I said that about my first book too. Can anyone see something I may have missed?
I have read a book by this author before (Death by Black Hole And Other Cosmic Quandaries-great book!) and none of the challenge winners have it on their TBR. So am I in the clear?

I think that works. Sounds like fun, too!

It is an autobiography, but not of someone I admire. Is that okay?
Does being the second book of her memoirs make it a series?

Back to the drawing board -- this is driving me crazy!

Let me know if I've missed something out and can't read it...

Rebecca, what if you read the lightning thief for another task and THEN read the 2nd in the series the Odd Man Out task? Isn't it a series?

It is an autobiography, ..."
Katie (and everyone after), I'm so sorry. I somehow didn't see the message that someone had posted here...
Anyhow, I think your choice works, Katie. Sorry for being so slow!

Does it still qualify?
Thanks!

His Lady Midnight by Jo Ann Ferguson.
Not 5.1, 2, 3 (there were no guest appearances by any royalty, fiction or non), 4, 5, 6 (if I had more guts, I could do that...), 7 (according to fantastic fiction she was born in 1953, which means she's either a snake or a dragon, and I'm a pig), 8, 9, 10.
Not 10.1, 2, 3, 4/5/6 (it's only been rated by me and one other person... and we both rated it 4 stars), 7, 8/9/10 (takes place in England).
Not 15.1, 2, 3 (it's part of a series written by a woman, but the series is about these 4 GUY friends and how they fall in love, etc.), 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (I've read 3 or 4 of her books), or 10.
Will that suffice?
