Just finished Suttree and I’ll be (re) starting Pavilion of Women. I put it down for something else a few months ago and forgot to pick it back up until now.
I'm currently reading, A Reckoning: A Novel~May Sarton.I've read Sarton's non-fiction journals, but this is the first fiction of hers that I've read. The writing is quite good and the book gives the reader much to think about.
I'm currently reading Flirting with Pride and Prejudice: Fresh Perspectives on the Original Chick-Lit Masterpiece. I'm finding it to be an odd combination of interesting and insulting.
My favorite bit from "Three Junes:" (page 103) "Before I ever did it, I thought the notion of spreading ashes on water highly romantic, the best and most mannerly way to get past the horror of funerals. Having partaken in this ritual twice now, I dread and despise it. Inevitably...you have to wash him from your hair and down the drain of your tub as if he were soot from a campfire, dust from an attic, diesel exhaust from an ill-mufflered bus."
Reading PG Wodehouse short stories. I have found a new favorite writer to add to my list (thanks to Jonathan for the heads up about how much fun he is).
Barb wrote: "I'll be starting on Little Women, as the first book in my A-Z challenge."I love Little Women. There are a few cloyingly sentimental bits, but overall one of my favorites.
I'm listening to The Blood of Flowers, about 2 hours in. I'll be starting The Oracle of Stamboul today.
Barb, when you're done with Little Women, I would suggest March by Geraldine Brooks. I'm reading it right now and enjoying it.

I like Hardy a lot, but that book is so depressing (but then again, most of his books are). Sorry you didn't like it, I hope your next chosen classic is better.
Janice wrote: "I finished The Oracle of Stamboul and have started Baking Cakes in Kigali."Why not bake cakes at home? Seems odd to go all the way to Kigali just to bake.
I'm reading The Snowman.
What's the fun of baking at home, when you can discover new culinary delights elsewhere? I have The Snowman on audiobook and am looking forward to it. How is it so far, Phil?
Interesting. I like the serial killer concept that has been introduced. A couple of times the writing has seemed disjointed, most noticeably regarding a couple of descriptions of people in the story.
The copy of Just My Type: A Book about Fonts I had on hold at the library just came in! I'm surprisingly excited to read a book about fonts.
"Fabulous Flatulence: A Book About Farts" could be equally intriguing, though perhaps not one I would read proudly in public.
Amber ~Geektastic~ wrote: "The copy of Just My Type: A Book about Fonts I had on hold at the library just came in! I'm surprisingly excited to read a book about fonts."Fonts are pretty cool.

So cool.

With Ben on the cover, probably. With just the title, probably not. But I have a Kindle, so problem solved!
I have finally finished Time Bomb - Jonathan Kellerman and am about to start Cat Calls - Cynthia Leitich Smith
janine wrote: "I see now why you need so many books."LOL, that previous book was a short story book lol x
I'm having a hard time getting into Shadows on the Rock. I'm not ready to give up on it, but I want to see other books on the side.
I finished Shadows on the Rock and re-read The Metamorphosis. Making my way through the critical essays.
