Kira James (shiver623) | 7 comments What is Netgalley?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It's a place for galley arcs (since the book isn't out yet) in ebook form.

Did you get a hardcover arc then?

message 805: by Kira (new)

Kira James (shiver623) | 7 comments No I'm waiting (im)patiently for it to come out so I can read it. And thanks janine, I'm glad to be a part of it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Ahhh gotcha.

Kira James (shiver623) | 7 comments So, why do they call you the bad influence?

message 808: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Because she is.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) They don't in this group, although I'm sure I've been called other things (usually nice though - I think?). I tend to have random inside jokes with different GR people, this one has to do with a pre teen girl who started reading some of the more adult books that I was recommending, but I didn't realize it until after the fact or I would have told her to stay away.

Sorry I sullied your character Larry.

message 811: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Ha!

message 812: by [deleted user] (new)

Is it posible to sully a monkeys character?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Not a real one. Larry's only a soft figment of our imagination though.

message 814: by [deleted user] (new)

True! A very entertaining figment!

message 815: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) As Ficus is also a fig-ment.

Pre-teen girls have never been permanently damaged by reading adult books.

What works are you trying to track down? Apartment in Athens and The Pilgrim Hawk are in print, published by NYRB.

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments I am re reading "Seducing the Highlander" by Janet Chapman. I needed to read a love story because they always make me feel more hopeful and I have been somewhat depressed lately (the migraines are back).

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It's okay. I like me some Highlanders too.

I'm still reading the Jewel in the Crown. When I start really liking it I can't help but feel LG is controlling my brain.

I also just started reading a pretty fluffy book that made me laugh out loud and weep all in one naptime reading session. The Atlas of Love

I love these kind of books!"

That's a good one, Petra. Takes a turn into serious weirdness halfway through, but a fascinating story.

It was GREAT! I listened to the audio version and there is a bonus CD that is a conversation between the author, Simon Winchester, and John Simpson, the editor of the OED. Fascinating! That was almost better than the story.
