Brett Bird | 8 comments Hello everyone!

I'm a new non-fiction author.

The truth is, I never thought I would become an author. Yet, through the experiences and struggles faced by not only myself but others that I've helped as well, I felt that the world needs a book like this.

Many times, in dating, you've heard of the dichotomy of "nice" guys and "jerks". What I've found through personal experience is that this idea not only applies to the world of dating, but also to many areas of our personal & professional lives.

On top of this, many people think that if you're not "nice", this implies that you're a "jerk", and vice versa. However, there is a third way to be, what is called being "whole". This lies in the middle of these two extremes, which is where you are at your best.

My book "Become Whole: A Simple Plan to Maximize Your Potential and Tap Into Your Inner Confidence", shows you strategies to help you lean closer to this state of being "Whole".

Gain more respect from your peers, have more satisfying friendships, and learn to stand up for yourself while taking steps to become your best self!

Adam Harkus | 6 comments Goa : A Lesson In Life (Second Edition) Out Now!

Back in August 2006, I visited Goa, India. A trip that affected my outlook on life, views on my country, and my attitude towards others of all backgrounds. In 2015, I finally decided to put down in writing all the experiences encountered on my journey, not least my admiration for India, its people, and its culture.

This second edition includes a professional cover, comprehensive edit, long-lost images, and an extra chapter/epilogue, all combining to complete my journey.

I am a new author.
My first book , Let Go: Love Another Day, is available for preorder on Amazon.

This book is less about relationships and more about the best way to achieve the complete healing required after a failed relationship, to help shed emotional baggage if one is to move on truly and completely.

Rick (papadrum) | 7 comments My first non-fiction book was about "Freestyle Community Drum Circles". The next was my life in funny anecdotes called, "My Life Cracks Me Up". I'm best known for my next book which was, "MIXED NUTS or What I've Learned Practicing Psychotherapy". That was the risky one. Bringing humor into the therapy setting is one thing. Doing that in print was risky. I must have done something right because that book resulted in invitations for me to lecture graduate Psychology departments in Europe and Asia! My last book was "American Baapu: India Through My Eyes".

I find it interesting that my books sell so much better in Europe and Asia than in the US.

Ziri Dafranchi (ziridafranchi) | 9 comments Have you ever read a book that left you rethinking everything you thought you knew and believed?

It was so revealing such that page after page left you amazed? It got you nodding in agreement to each new insight revealed?

LIFE: A MYSTERY SOLVED is one of such books. Not only is it captivating, enlightening, and interesting to read, it also provides you with the answers you seek about life. Read it to help yourself get more out of your life.

It is also available on Amazon, Waterstones, and all major retailers.

Ziri Dafranchi (ziridafranchi) | 9 comments History is often written from the perspective of the writer regardless of the accuracy of the narrative relative to the actual events narrated. Thus the true story of Africa and its people have remained largely untold, misrepresented, or partially rendered, because Africa's popular history is as written by its conquerors.

Not many people know what Africa was like before the advent of historic slavery nor even that humans originated there. Not many people also know that slavery was targeted at specific ethnic groups in Africa nor the true identity of these groups.

BEING BLACK: REDISCOVERING A LOST IDENTITY presents a researched history of Africa starting from when humans first originated there through the slavery and colonisation era, the origin of the racial ideology based on which racial injustice is founded, to Africa's present state. More than simply telling a story, it also presents an informed prediction of Africa's future. Read it for its historical content but also to help yourself prepare and participate in the restoration of a lost heritage.

Ziri Dafranchi (ziridafranchi) | 9 comments Religion is unarguably a very important aspect of the lives of most people today. In seeking for a better life here and in the hereafter, many people fervently engage in religious practices as prescribed by their particular religion.

However, there are many different religions with each proffering different solutions for the same need, and each with sets of different beliefs and practices which contradict those of other religions. Thus raising the questions: Is there a right way? And, which is the right way?

PAGAN WORLD: DECEPTION AND FALSEHOOD IN RELIGION presents a thorough exploration of religion as a human invention while also highlighting the shortcomings of religion vis-a-vis its promises. Applying the right hermeneutics in exegeting Scriptural texts, it reveals God's plan for reconciliation and restoration. Read it to understand why religion has not lived to its promises and also to uncover how right to relate with God.

Thaddeus Cooper | 4 comments Hi all! Here's our book about the history of the arcade game Skee-Ball. I know it's a bit different than most of what is here, but if you enjoy niche history then you are going to love this book!

Seeking Redemption The Real Story of the Beautiful Game of Skee-Ball by Thaddeus O Cooper

Seeking Redemption: The Real Story of the Beautiful Game of Skee-Ball

Seeking Redemption - The Real Story of the Beautiful Game of Skee-Ball is the first and only book about the history of Skee-Ball, and the authoritative history of the game.

Seeking Redemption tells a timeless story of a start-up, beginning with the unlikely inventor, Joseph Fourestier Simpson, and featuring all of the classic struggles and triumphs. It is also a story of how this beloved game of Skee-Ball survived two world wars, recessions and depressions, industry transformations, technology revolutions and legal wrangling to thrive for over 100 years. Skee-Ball morphed from its' origins as "A Man's Game" to becoming a fascinating game for everyone. It's continued to survive patent wars, clone competition, and the threats of bankruptcy and obscurity to emerge once again as a best selling iPhone app, and be resurrected for modern amusement venues by Bay Tek Games, Inc. redesign in 2016.

This book is a treasure for history buffs as well. Meticulously researched from primary sources, lavishly illustrated with original photographs, letters, papers and documents, it allows the history to speak for itself in an engaging and readable way. Not just the story of the game, it is a unique view into the universal human struggles for redemption and recognition, and a salute to the eternal inventiveness of the human spirit.

Johanna Blomqvist | 5 comments Hi,

Have you ever wondered why we are here and what “reality” is?

This question and finding answers to it has fascinated me all my life. It was also one of the reasons why I became interested in physics and went to university to study it. I was hoping that I could find answers there - maybe a theory that would perfectly explain reality, and I would also understand my own role in all this.

I have written a book ”Hyperreality - Beyond the Horizon where Physics Meets Consciousness” and it has just been published in English on Amazon (the book is also available in Finnish and also Swedish translation is on the way).

In the Hyperreality I will address such questions as:
* How should we approach life and its challenges? Are they even real?
* What do we really know about reality?
* What is the connection between reality and consciousness?
* Do we live in a simulation?

I will tell you about my own experiences and insights, many interesting and surprising cases, experiments and also about current theories and hypothesis represented. I will also address such questions as what is time, do we have a free will and what are synchronicities.

Anyway, it seems that our prevailing materialistic worldview is outdated. There are lots of phenomena that the current theories are unable to explain. In many of these mind and consciousness are involved. However, the change is already ongoing and a new paradigm is dawning based on the ideas of quantum physics.

This book may give you answers but it may also raise you new questions. However, asking questions maybe the most important thing we need to do, since ”You see what you are ready to see.”

I am interested especially in Amazon reviews for this book. The book has been a bestseller in Finland when it was published on Fall 2020.

Best regards,
Johanna

Hi, thanks for the opportunity…
My book Eat Beat Sleep Repeat: a FIFO Life describes life and experiences as a Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) worker in the oil and gas industry, from trainee to fifteen-year veteran. My career - so far - has included stints on four offshore facilities and one major onshore LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) project. I currently work on the World's largest floating object which I helped build in South Korea over a three year period. These experiences have been unique in many ways, but are conveyed in a very human way; I was not interested in writing a technical book, a history of the industry, or an environmental tome of monumental importance. This is just a story of my life as a FIFO worker during one of the busiest and most interesting times in the industry, particularly Australia.

I believe that a large amount of "normal" people are very interested in this lifestyle, apart from the 150,000 plus FIFO workers based in Australia, Canada and elsewhere. It also openly and honestly describes my descent into depression, sometimes so bad I wanted to suicide. FIFO can be hard. FIFO is a different life altogether, it comes with its own issues and problems, from distances travelled, the method of getting there, fatigue, dangerous conditions, depression, anxiety, separation from family and The World, huge relationship hurdles, as well as the concept of being trapped by the lifestyle and the large salaries, the Golden Handcuffs as we call it. In fact, this book is a study of Australian working culture in many ways with all its blemishes.
The lifestyle is not for everyone, especially offshore, and many people have crashed and burned in the time I have been in the job. We do a minimum of 12 hour days, 7 days a week, up to 28 days straight, sometimes longer when storms hit or choppers fail. At the same time a lot of us get paid well and we get decent breaks where we spend that money we earn. And we work with some of the best people on the planet, even if the Companies and their management structures leave a lot to be desired. I hope you enjoy it and find it interesting.

Mark Holmes (mark_holmes) | 3 comments Hi guys!

I literally wrote a book to save my life.

I was an International School Principal travelling the world but secret high functioning alcoholic for over thirty years. I thought it was literally impossible to stop drinking. Every time I tried using willpower, I soon returned to Day 1 after a few weeks or months because I couldn't stop the cravings.

I spent years researching alcohol which eventually led to working out the real nature of alcohol and learning how to resolve underlying issues causing me to drink. I know this is starting to sound like an advert now, but it is true.

My research led to me training as a CBT Therapist and helping others learn how to stop drinking, culminating in me writing a 375-page book with over 300 Academic references, published in ebook on 1st September 2021 on Amazon for $5.99. It is called "Holmes's Complete Guide To Stop Drinking Alcohol; The Easy, Mindful and Pain-free Way."

You can buy it here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09...

Here's a link to the independent review by Kirkus Reviews: https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-re...

Also, if you are interested in controlling or quitting drinking I run a private facebook group which is free to join and open to everyone here and I publish any book offers and discounts here too:

Anthony Signorelli My book is Consent Is not Enough
Subtitle: What Men Need to Know in a #MeToo World.

Kindle Book is $0.99 thru October 31.

We need to heal men if we are going to solve #MeToo. After hundreds of hours in men's groups on #MeToo, six words consistently stopped the conversation. Why? What did they really mean? Toxic masculinity, consent, privilege, objectification, entitlement, patriarchy. I wanted to dive into these to find out. This book is the result, but the conversation is not over. That's why your reviews are important. Let's solve this. Men and women will have better lives when we do.

Lorrie Reed | 2 comments Hi everybody. My name is Lorrie Reed. I've got a new book coming out soon. I've pasted a brief description below. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Pressing Toward the Marks of Ministerial Leadership is intended to help you broaden and deepen your awareness of what it means to be an effective ministerial leader in the 21st century. Chapters in this book provide an overview of theoretical frameworks and practical principles that have stood the test of time and are descriptive of what occurs in most organizational settings. Thought-provoking workshop exercises at the end of each chapter address the needs of adult learners and foster critical thinking, effective communication, and creativity, along with the ability to sustain effective and ethical relationships in evolving congregational settings. Examples in this book grow out of the author’s experiences since 1980 as a researcher, leader, administrator, teacher/professor, ordained minister, and change agent. Major topics include the nature of your call to ministry, methods for theological reflection, and elements of Christian worship. Further, the book examines theoretical frameworks for leadership, administration, communication, and teaching, along with other processes associated with serving at the helm of an organization. As a result of reading this book, you will become better at problem-solving, analysis, spiritual self-empowerment, promoting justice, and developing critical consciousness about the linkages among faith, leadership, and service in your organizational setting.

Mark | 2 comments Hello, all!

Interested in New York City history? If so, please consider my first book, Everyone Loves a Parade! A Guide to New York City's Ticker Tape Parades.

Co-authored with my father, a historian who passed away before this book could be completed, the book explores the history of NYC's most iconic events. When and how did the tradition start, and how did it evolve over time? Has anybody ever turned down the honor, or been given more than one parade? How have the parades and honorees changed over time, and what does that say about how our culture and city have changed? And what is ticker tape anyway? From the enormous parades for Lindberg, Churchill and MacArthur, to celebrities whose fame has faded over time (and a few who were relatively unknown even in their own time), the book covers them all, breathing new life into these spectacular events.

If you enjoy New York City and its cultural history, I hope you will enjoy this book (and if you do, I'd appreciate a review).

Brian Storm (brianstorm215) | 3 comments I have a new memoir coming out in February, and I am looking for a few select people to read it ahead of time and give me feedback before it's released.

The Struggle:10th Anniversary Edition

Addicted to heroin and unable to stop on his own, Brian Storm finds himself sitting on the tracks waiting for a train to come and take his life. But things weren't always this bad for Brian, an aspiring white rapper from Philadelphia who had a good upbringing. In Brian's early teen years, he discovers that drugs and alcohol are the perfect solutions to his low self-esteem issues. Like most addicts and alcoholics, Brian believes that he can stop at any time, so he doesn't see any harm in continuing to drink and smoke weed. What he doesn't know is that with every sip and every puff, he falls deeper into a world of crime and desperation.
The Struggle is a gripping true story that takes you through the life of an alcoholic/addict who hits rock bottom but quickly learns that the more he tries to dig himself out, the deeper that bottom gets. It takes a blessing in disguise for Brian to finally get the help he needs, but when he does, he learns that the Struggle is far from over
