Fazlous Satter | 5 comments My name is Fazlous Satter. I am an author, human rights, human security activist, and researcher from Bangladesh.

My newly published book is titled ” Understanding the World’s Longest Civil War: Colonial State Formations, Geopolitics, Conflict over Natural Resources, and the Genocide. ” which is now available at folloing links in amazon :https://www.amazon.com/UNDERSTANDING-...

This book is an overview of over seven decades-long civil war in Burma and its both internal and external actors, root causes as well as complex dynamics including global and regional geopolitics centering Burma, conflict over access and control of rich natural resources and also the politics of illicit drugs.

This book has given an account of all the major insurgent groups that include from communist and Arakan Mujahidin to currently active more than 21 ethnic armed organizations (EAO’S) and their predecessors along with the plight of these ethnic nationalities.

To give the reader a deeper understanding about this world's longest civil war, apart from contemporary ethnic, religious, sociopolitical and economic issues this book also describes the history of Burma that covered thousands of years from the earliest Maramma period to present Myanmar days that includes the rise and fall of Burmese Empire, its territorial expansion, colonial rules and ethnic nationalities resistance against both Burmese invader and colonial occupation and also the rise of Burmese nationalism and their collaboration with the Japanese occupation army as well as their last moment shift of allegiance toward the Allied forces and achieving independence.

Finally, this book analyzed the role of Burmese armed forces (Tatmadaw) in Myanmar's politics since their collaboration with the Japanese occupation army and their economic as well as other vested interest that turn it into a state within a state and brutal repressive armed forces which committed ethnic cleansing, the crime against humanity and genocide in the name of so-called counter-insurgency campaign, especially against the Muslim Rohingya community.Lastly, this book also elaborates past and ongoing international interventions in response to the crime of genocide and crime against humanity committed by the Tatmadaw.

Leslie | 13 comments Hello fellow nonfiction authors and fans!

I wanted to share with you my newly-published book about my family's long ties to Hiroshima. You have probably seen the pictures of the mushroom cloud and perhaps the pictures of the Enola Gay airplane that dropped the bomb. But you were not permitted to see the truth in living color of what happened to the people below that cloud. My father's crew shot the only color footage of the aftermath -- especially in the hospitals, but all of it was classified as top secret and buried for decades. He was haunted by the hidden images that he believed would have changed American views on nuclear weapons, and his last wish was to have his ashes scattered at Ground Zero. I spent a year there after he died and collected first-person accounts of survivors some of whom remembered his filming them. I have finally fulfilled my promises to share these stories and hope that they may bring greater understanding of what we still face in a nuclear-armed world.

I would love to hear from anyone interested in reviewing the book -- or discussing the topic! Leslie A. SussanChoosing Life: My Father’s Journey in Film from Hollywood to Hiroshima

Lance Packer (lance_packer) | 4 comments Control: The Foundation of Life

Greetings to all fellow Realists,

I find it interesting that we are all grouped under the singular category of non-fiction, despite the vastness of sub-categories encompassed, whereas fiction fans have a multitude of categories listed. And this is typical wherever such groupings are found. Why is that? Something to think about.

As an author, I like to take a broad perspective of things I encounter—such as the above—and try to determine the essentials of the 'forest' without getting lost in the 'trees,' which is what I have done in my recently published book, "Control: The Foundation of Life." Based on my varied life experiences, and focused by my formal education in anthropology and years of teaching public school in Alaska, I believe I have found a simple explanation for why life, in all its forms and behaviors, is the way it is.

Control is the defining difference between inanimate and animate elements of our environment and is the requirement for any life form to continue to be alive. It’s simply a fact. From that point on, the book explains how control is involved in the development of the complexity of living beings from bacteria to plants to animal—with a discerning focus on the human species and its behavior. And that behavior includes everything, the whole ball of wax: politics, communication, family squabbles, memory, religion, soul, emotions, sex, history, the future of humanity, etc.

The format is set as a narrative dialogue with the reader, bringing up questions to ask and possible answers and reasoning for both. It’s a springboard for thought. Furthermore to that end, my website, https://www.lancepacker.com, is designed to continue the interaction with blog entries and a forum for discussing issues and ideas related to control, or anything anyone wishes to discuss. (Sample blog posts are on my GR profile page.) It’s just getting started, so feel free to jump in and help things get going—whether you have read the book or not. It can be fun!

Also, check the Giveaway page for the book this September.

Irial O'Farrell | 3 comments Hi fellow non-fiction authors,

My name is Irial and I write management books. My latest book is called SMART Objective Setting for Managers. It unpacks the 4 main stumbling blocks managers face, when designing and agreeing objectives, that typically happen once a year, as part of performance management.

I'd much appreciate if you could help me in 2 ways:

Firstly, add the book to your bookshelf. Second, can you think of 3 friends and/or family members that are managers (preferably ones that read business books) and let them know that this book exists. The link to the book on Amazon is: mybook.to/SMARTManagers

The official launch date is Oct 4th so I'm hoping reviews will be coming soon but the feedback from those that have read it have raved about it:

"You should have written this book years ago!"

"I’m only on ch. 4 but I’ve already discovered things I’ve been doing wrong for 25 years - and I thought I was good at setting SMART objectives!😬"

Thanks for any support you can give.

Diana Romeo (goodreadscomdianal-romeo) | 3 comments Hello All,

I'm so excited to be here as an author. I've published my first book about my experiences raising a child on the autism spectrum please check it out.

From an Autism Mom with Love is a collection of personal letters that gives you a look into the life of one family’s experience living with someone on the autism spectrum. These letters are written from Mom to her son, to God, and to the community at large and will bring you through a range of emotions. They share experiences spanning from diagnosis, through school years, until today, when he is transitioning into adulthood. The letters are funny, sad, poignant, frustrated, informative, and hopeful. This is a real life look at one family’s experience with autism in a world that is not always autism friendly and how this mom continually learns to navigate through the many challenges and joys. Life with autism is often a roller coaster ride, but this book shows it is a ride filled with love.

Stuart Brown | 6 comments The Seven Steps To Naturally Stronger Immunity And Pandemic Survival

I wrote this book after over 25 years of studying medical nutrition independently. Some say that a little knowledge is dangerous, and this proved to be true for me as I would cherry-pick my nutritional supplements according to how I believed I felt. It wasn't until I became pre-diabetic that I discovered my approach was incorrect.

I discovered how the body's systems are intertwined and the need to strengthen all of the body's components simultaneously to achieve optimal health. This can't be done by cherry-picking nutrition. I want to break this down for the average reader to understand that the degenerative diseases encountered in life, regardless of age, are self-inflicted and avoidable. I am giving away 10 copies of my book on this site, hoping that what I have just stated will resonate with readers who might gain a new understanding and share their comments with new readers. message 928: by Mark (new)

Mark | 54 comments Hi, everyone!
I just published my first non-fiction book, Toxic. It came from decades of struggle with my Christian faith and all of the troublesome passages of the Bible which painted the Christian God in a very different light than what the church taught.

Here's one review:
"I have yet to read any critical dissection of the Christian writings and beliefs as effective, inclusive, and liberating as Mark Justice's book Toxic. I recommend it not only for the nonbeliever but for those merely curious or on the fence about their acceptance of these divisive words many call Holy scripture. And while I'm at it, I invite all true believers to read it. In fact, I defy them to read it and not come away moved, if not changed."
- Mike Gustovich, creator of Justice Machine, artist on The Avengers, Batman, et al.

I spent decades in academia, both as a student and as an instructor, so every claim I make in Toxic is supported with ample Biblical references and examples of Toxic Christian doctrine. Over 100 sources were used as support, as well, but it but hardly reads like an academic treatise. Some of the language is harsh, but all of it is intentional.

For the believer who struggles, who is disenchanted with doctrine which ignores troubling passages of the Bible, who ever came away after reading the Bible feeling horrified, this book is for you.
For the exvangelical who worries they're the only one who's ever seen God in a light the church ignores, this book is for you.
For the self-contented Christian, perhaps this book will challenge your knowledge of the Bible as well as your own view of and relationship with its God.

Hi, readers and authors. I am Dr Robert Forde, and I wrote a book about my area of work - forensic psychology - intended mainly for non-psychologists. So, although it's about a technical field, it's written in an entertaining way for people who don't know a psychopath from a psychologist (to be fair, sometimes there isn't much difference!).

Specifically, it's about psychology in prisons. I have met more psychopaths than most people, and testified in court many times. But much of my work has been in parole hearings, where a panel of the great and well-meaning try to decide if someone with a violent past still has a violent enough future to keep him locked up. Our methods of doing this, and of trying to reform people with "treatment" programs are well-meant, but disastrous. We have posed as experts who can foretell the future and change miscreants for the better - mainly by talking at them.

The book outlines what doesn't work, and what might, and how we might tell the difference, and makes it clear how far we still have to go. Find it at: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bad-Psycholo...

Wunmi Adebowale (goodreadscomsuperwoman9ja) | 26 comments Words are like seeds you sow that grow and bear fruits. The words you speak are given life when spoken and will eventually define the quality of your life. When you sow mangoes, you would definitely not expect to reap bananas, and so it is when you sow negative words into your life, the result will automatically be negative. Quit using negative words such as I can't, I won't, I will never, I just can't, it is not possible, I can't help myself, I am hopeless, I can't live etc. Pay attention to the words you speak; they are your spirit and life. This is not a make-believe piece of work; this is an awareness to sensitise you that there is power in your words.
Inspirational Quotes and 30 Days' Affirmations will:
* empower you to live above the average by attracting the right energy to live an authentic life

* equip you with the right mind-set required to live a victorious life
* challenge you to focus on the positive side of things which will help renew your mind and transform your life drastically

Denis Roubien | 3 comments Hi everyone! You can get my travel book on Paris for free from Jan 27 to Jan 30 here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084JLRSL8 (I would be glad to receive reviews for it)
The originality of this book lies in the fact that it describes all the main cultural sights of Paris with a focus on Le Marais, the most historical and best preserved neighbourhood in the French capital, that escaped the city's transformation in the 19th century. This is done in the belief that this approach helps the visitor understand better this multi-layered and therefore complex -and, for this reason, fascinating- city. This book, based mainly on a large number of photos, accompanied by concise historical and architectural explanations, endeavours to reveal the treasures of Paris, including the less known ones, to the visitor who desires to discover them. Among other things, it presents interesting but not always sufficiently known museums, luxurious mansions, with sumptuous courtyard façades and lovely gardens hidden behind high walls, medieval houses with a wooden framework and Gothic basements and even the castle of 'the Primate of France'.

Sasha Vosk (goodreadscomuser_sashavosk) | 6 comments Hello, fellow non-fiction authors! My name is Sasha Vosk.

My first book is called 400 YEARS OF NEW YORK HISTORY: A PICTORIAL GUIDE.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

It borrowed experiences from everything that I've done before in my life: architecture, photorealistic illustrations and murals, award-winning producer's work for TV and the Moscow Circus, and writing/directing short films. The past four and a half years of producing this first-of-a-kind book have been an amazing experience.

If you’ve ever wondered what New York City might have looked like before the supertall skyscrapers and many millions of people, my book shows you. This incredible visual representation of New York City is the first book to use the unique, almost-three-dimensional illustrations that my team and I create using the latest in CG visual-art technology. What you see in "400 Years of New York History’s first volume — New York as New Amsterdam in the 1600s" is a photorealistic reconstruction of what the city almost certainly looked like over the course of the 17th century.

If you'd like to know more about this project please visit my site:
https://vosktimetravelguide.com

And if you'd be interested in writing a pre-release review please let me know and I'd be glad to send you the manuscript.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Sasha

John Anakwenze | 103 comments Hi !
It will interest you to know about two nonfiction biographical novels I have gladly written in the past two years: The Bee Chase is my debut narrative, describing a very tragic bee chase. This was closely followed by a sequel titled Udenka. Both are available on Amazon website. Udenka is a funny relaxing read and exemplifies the art of storytelling. https://johnanakwenze.business.site/
