Jade Newcastle (jade_newcastle) | 6 comments Hi everyone, I'm Jade Newcastle :) I write fantasy short stories with LGBT+ characters. I've published one so far, Cracks in the Foundation

A forest holds a living shadow; a sketchbook holds premonitions; and a dormitory that should hold three students only holds two. It shouldn't be up to Clementine and Mona to find a roommate they've never met, but no one else is looking for her. The path to her is dangerous, hidden, and anything but straight.

Cole NeVille | 4 comments My brother and I recently published our book Black Winter. It is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy. It follows Captain Alec Winter as he tries to protect his family. A storm went over the earth and never stopped. Alec, his family and anyone they could find are held up in a military compound in the mountains of Ogden, Utah. Strangers seem to appear from out of nowhere, knowing where the lost people from Alec's compound are and people on watch have heard strange sounds in the forest. Alec will have to use his training to protect the people he loves while he tries not to become the very thing they are afraid of.

You can get Black Winter in paperback or eBook on Amazon and is free for anyone with Kindle Unlimited.

Evan Grove | 3 comments Hey all, and Happy New Year!

My name is Evan L. Grove and I'm the author of "To the North", the first part of a fantasy duology titled "The Awakener" that just released this December.

To the North explores the dark mysteries of an unforgiving land, the northern kingdom of Odelia. It takes place in an alternate reality set in a pre-digital world, one that is governed by magic and corporate governance. Two young women navigate numerous challenges in order to protect what's important to them, but in doing so make discoveries that reveal the terrifying reality of their world.

If anyone wants to check it out, my book can be found here in both paperback and kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P8D72VM?...

Thanks!

Darryl Chislett | 20 comments Hi Folks
New to all this online world but I'm learning. I was told Goodreads is the place to be! My book ends on a strong fantasy note, but I've been told by several readers getting there is more metaphysical and spiritual - with a healthy dose of romance. ( Variety is after all, the spice of life! ) I'm still going to call it fantasy though, and there is a 2nd in the works which is much more fantasy based. Its called 'Of Harleys and Healing'. The 2nd book has the working title, 'Of Harleys and Unicorns'. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08H5P43F4
Yes, there's motorcycles in it - but in a good way! In the second book the motorcycles fly, and the unicorns are an inter-dimensional environmental police force and they're here to help save the whales. It gets wild - but in a good way.
Thanks - and readers are better people. That's my experience so far!

carol (carocaro) | 16 comments Hi everyone, hope 2021 brings in good stories.

I found one, great fantasy story but had a few typos, I contacted the writer and he has added the corrections...I reread it and love this book..The Silent Blade Chronicles: A Sword for Hire The Silent Blade Chronicles A Sword for Hire by D.D.M. Graham

Reviewed as

This was an accidental find, one for me to treasure.
This writer, D.D.M. Graham, has created an amazing fantasy world that quickly becomes familiar, and much loved characters, the protagonists, with dragons, witches, wizards, sprites, warrior heroes, an adorable shapechanger...then of course, the baddies, the antagonists, from wicked witches to evil demons all in a story of good v evil.

The four main protagonist characters are well developed, very endearing, and the story leaves you wanting more of these beings and the world they live in.

Plot -
An important and revered item goes missing from the Wizard’s citadel.

This introduces, Amvaar, a slightly scatterbrained and naive soul, sent by his superiors to retrieve said item.
He in turn meets up with, Jagahin, assassin or protector, readers decide.
Next to join them is the most endearing or dangerous sprite, Hoog. His description and character is unique to my knowledge.
Finally, Priff, a shapechanger, and again an emotive and endearing character that I have grown so fond of.
This band of four characters end on a quest that the dragon god, Nightwing, instigates and a memorable plot, sub plot, characters, both protagonist and worthy antagonists play out in an exciting story to its finale.

At which point, I’m feeling initially devastated that I’m at the end...but then is it? This cab be a stand-alone read, but also introduces the main and subsidiary characters that will be going onto their next adventure.

This is a story I will definitely reread, the few typos have been omitted in final editing, so discerning readers should have an exciting niggle free read...a definite plus in my view.

It isn’t often I recommend a book as outstanding as this, but this is, and is suitable for literate teens, YA, and adults of all ages and both sexes. This is a five star read from me.

Now off to read the next in the series.

Another time and Another Place The Forest of Allund

Alexio Sopholus lives in a world similar to ancient Greece. All three books in the series follow the adventure of Alexio Sopholus as he takes up the position of caretaker to the Forest of Allund with its many secrets and mysteries. Along the way, Alexio will pick up quite a collection of friends and an impressive list of enemies. He will face situations, challenges, and dangers few others can even imagine. as he tried to protect those around him from threats from barbarians, gods, and his own government.

Forest of Allund cover

In this first book, Alexio Sopholus returns home after ten years away at the Academy. When he returns, he soon finds his lands under attack by barbarians bent on domination of the kingdom. With the help of his large animal friends and others, he manages to initially fight off the invaders, but draws the suspicions and fears of his own leaders. Faced with death, destruction, and betrayal all around him, Alexio is forced to conclude that all the morality, philosophy, ethics, and behavior taught to him in school are all but useless when someone has you at the point of a sword. Then you must either fight, run, or die. Alexio wages war. It will be a war without pity, mercy, and against the laws of both gods and men. It will result in Alexio finding himself an outcast inhis own land.

The Laughing Gods cover

In the second book, Alexio and his wife still find themselves in danger from the barbarians and his own leaders. After an assassination attempt, a bold move by the barbarians put the entire kingdom in danger. Alexio and a small party of friends must travel to a foreign kingdom to ask aid from an unreliable source. Discovering an even more insidious plot against them, Alexio and a small group of mages must flee for their lives. When they return, they find their kingdom in shambles, the Brotherhood of Mages in tatters, and an imminent threat from the barbarians to sweep all of them aside. Alexio must find a way to save his kingdom, the Brotherhood of Mages, his family, and his friends before they are all consumed in the increasing maelstrom.

Demigod

Two tales conclude this series. In the first, Alexio Sopholus comes up with a dangerous and desperate plan to finally end the Zilar war. He, his wife, and several loyal companions make a dangerous journey to a place where he can challenge the leader Zilar directly. After several confrontations, Alexio and his friends are faced with the full might of the Zilar. Their only hope to is make a desperate last attack against overwhelming odds against the Zilar himself and his minions. At the same time a great tragedy befalls the three kingdoms that will devastate life for years, causing untold death and destruction, and the deaths of many friends.

In the second tale, the kingdoms are again faced with a more lethal threat than even the Zilar. A renegade god and his followers invade the world causing panic and destruction. This god seeks nothing less that to displace the Olympian Gods of this world. The kingdoms, the mages, the armies, and the gods must band together to defeat this interloper or face extinction. Many will die in the conflagration. The final battle will tax the strength of both gods and men and force Alexio into making the ultimate sacrifice.

Isabella Artino Hi everyone! I'm in the process of writing a fantasy, but below is my first synopsis of the story!!

In a world full of psychic abilities, only the strongest prevail…
Ersa is the last living member of the Metry Clan, a clan that drove themselves to madness and disarray. She is blessed with the power to learn information about an object or person by touching it. Even the floors speak to her. She wants her life to be easy, but knows that such a fate is near impossible to reach.
Adrian is the crown prince of Ivory, and with the king’s health failing and insurgents knocking of the palace door, he needs a wife to be his queen. Thus the renown competition of minds opens for one lady from each clan to come and present themselves and their skills to him. Many girls pry for a chance at the prince; Ersa has been dreading it. But once Ersa gets to know Adrian, she learns there’s much more to him- and the kingdom- than even she knew.

Larry III | 9 comments Folklore February begins tomorrow.

All February long, each book in my folklore anthology series is only 99 cents exclusively in ebook.

These books are dark tales, each one focusing on a specific creature from various folklore and mythology.
Redcap begins it all. Kyle West is returning home for a death in the family. Fresh from the Army, he is not looking forward to talking to his religious extremist parents who almost disowned him for joining the military four years earlier. The closer he gets to his hometown of Valley Center, Kansas, the more he begins to have visions and repressed memories start to surface. In his youth, he was tormented by a horrid little creature in a blood red cap. With the help of a mysterious old private eye, Kyle will soon come face to face with the monster from his childhood.
Baba Yaga. She was a witch, a cannibal, and strange enough, a wise woman. This book will give her an origin story like you never would suspect. How did Baba Yaga as we know of her come to be? What sort of being is the Russian witch Baba Yaga? Read this book to find a tale of betrayal, assault, and magic so dark that even a coven of black magic witches steer clear of Baba.Incubus. A shadowy demonic entity that attacks sleeping people. In this story, we find Lenny, a man in his early thirties. In his teen years he suffered from horrible sleep paralysis. It eventually went away, but now all these years later it has returned with a vengeance. Most cases of sleep paralysis can be explained scientifically. But, every so often, it is something supernaturally terrifying.Krampus. The Anti-Claus. The vile fiend of Christmas. In this book, we get an intertwined origin of both Santa and his opposite, Krampus. All my books are in the same universe, and this book ties in nicely with my Targothian Trilogy. You have to read them to discover the connection. Come, gentle readers, and read a story that will be a perfect tale for both Halloween and Christmas.

Lance Dempster | 2 comments Hi everyone, I write fantasy for YA/adult. I’m currently writing the Thunder of Dragons series which will be a set of three books. Deelind and the IceFire is the first book and is available in e-book and print (UK).

The blurb:
Everyday Deelind works in the manor house kitchens while, unbeknownst to her, a dragon world lies hidden at its doorstep. After witnessing an extraordinary event, Deelind follows two strange boys and finds herself on a treacherous journey where she meets and melds with a baby featherlite dragon, Zara.

The world she has entered is on the brink of war. Blackthorn is hellbent on destroying everything in his path, using twisted magic, in an effort to take the Dragon Kingdom throne for himself. While recovering from an injury in a Blackthorn attack, cut off from Zara, grieving, shocked and hurt, Deelind grapples with adapting to this new world.

Looking for clues to her past and a missing Dragonscout, Deelind is captured by Blackthorns minions and drugged with IceFire. Deelind must find a way to escape the clutches of Blackthorn, rid herself of IceFire and reconnect with Zara.

Patriot Frog | 4 comments Hey guys! I'm a debut author here and Preorders for my first book just went live.)))🙌

Frogtown Pandemic- part 1 (1st in the Frogtown Series)
Releases: May 2021

In a forest society that mirrors modern-day US political and social problems toads have become the ruling class of amphibians over the frogs. Toads have seized control of the government and the coffee bean trade in Liberty forest. Taxation, gun control, and censorship are the tools of their oppression- all in the midst of an amphibian virus pandemic.

In what started as just an opposition to taxation without representation and a loss of civil rights, Jouko and his fellow patriot frogs become the architects of a growing forest-wide defiance to authoritarianism.

Keith Gell | 2 comments My name is Keith Gellm, and I am the Author of The Telepathy Office, which is available on Amazon.
Summary of The Telepathy Office by Keith Gell
The vast Metropolis, a city inhabited by goblins, is in the throes of an industrial revolution forged in magic. Manna, magical energy captured in physical form, fuels its factories that produce artefacts, to be traded across the galaxy. Wizards are the new elite. They use their magical skill to amass great wealth, and in turn, political power. Resentment grows among the mundane goblin proletariat.

Magic purveys every aspect of goblin life: Telepathic communication, weather control, and healing. But alongside the benefits come risks: Mutation from manna pollution, and magical diseases of vampirism and lycanthropy. But the biggest threat of all is demonic invasion.

Vampires steal a book to summon a demon. Infernal manna finds its way onto the market place, with awful consequences.

Grand Master Pharaoh Henry must recruit a team of demon hunters to stop a full-scale invasion from Hell. But Henry is a dangerous fanatic, and those who work for him end up dead, or worse. No right-minded wizard would risk death, or losing his soul, so he recruits who he can: A drug addicted augurist, a dishonoured ork, a cowardly policeman, a fugitive vampire, and a vain fashionista who shares her mind with a demon.

Against the backdrop of armed revolution, they investigate a Satanic plot, to prevent the opening of a gate to Hell itself.

I am Everleigh Miles.

I write sci-fi fantasy romances. I currently have two series out, The Fourth World Series, and Arcana of the Fourth World. They are available through Smashwords, Amazon, Kobo, Apple, and various other suppliers.

The Fourth World Series is six books following the adventures of Thorn and Briar, and the development of their relationship throughout all the various challenges and hurdles that the Fourth World and Thorn's people throw their way.

In Arcana of the Fourth World, we see the Fourth World and many of the characters from that series from different perspectives as we are introduced to the reclusive Arcana and the threat they pose to the Fourth World.

I am currently working on a trilogy set in the Fourth World, titled The Dark Crown, which will be released April/May.

David E Bruno (davidebruno) | 1 comments Hi everyone. I'm David E Bruno. I'm the author of the fantasy superhero book, Ironside and Aegis: Origins, available on Amazon. I'm in the early stages of writing the second of hopefully 3 books in the series. I would be honored if you would check it out. There are a number of reviews here on Goodreads.

My latest book, a novella, is available now for pre-order. It is called "The Demon' Axe" and is a rock and roll fantasy. Below is a synopsis. If you want to find out what happens, click the link at the bottom to order a copy.

When demons from the underworld take up residence in Georgia, the only thing more powerful than their insatiable hunger for human souls are the hearts of their prey.

Jonny Fretz wanted to be a famous rock star. As the years went on, his dreams faded along with those of his band, Digging Deep. Instead of achieving fame and fortune by creating original music, they barely eked out a living as a second-rate cover band.

Then, an amiable demon offered the desperate bandmates a deal they couldn’t refuse. All they have to do is defeat him and his fellow demons in a “battle of the bands.” If Jonny and the boys can recapture their love of music and play better than ever, fame and fortune are theirs.

If not, their souls become dinner

My name is Michael Hitchen and I've just published my first novelette; Embers in the Snow. Its a short fantasy set in the same world as my upcoming novel.

The story follows three POVs, one main and two sub, through a fast paced story, detailing a small group's attempted escape from a tyrannical warlord. The story follows two of the fleeing characters and one of the (Ruthless) pursuers.

I would categorize the story as fantasy/dark fantasy/grimdark

Hello Vincent, I am a newbie author with an old-school taste in epic fantasy. I know I am going against the current trends in the genre but I write for the same reason I read... because I enjoy it! If anyone else out there enjoys it too, then that's just dandy! For me, it's all about taking part and living the dream. In that light, I have written Chaos and Creation, an epic fantasy novel. The book, as you might expect, is based on sword-wielding, 'coming of age' good-guy hero 'risks all' type stuff, against the bad-ass (can I say ass?) dark forces of chaos. It has been published on Amazon in paperback format, in two parts. Links to Paperbacks as follows: -

"PART ONE - Chaos and Creation" (ASIN 1674115326): https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1674115326

"PART TWO - Chaos and Creation" (ASIN B08R6TGSVL): https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08R6TGSVL

Also it has been published as one complete e-book on Kindle. The links to the e-book are as follows:-
UK customers - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B085LK9FN3
USA customers - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085LK9FN3

I would love to know if anyone has read it and if they did, did they enjoy it? As a new author, any constructive feedback would be welcome, even if the reader didn't enjoy it!

Hello, I confess I'm a total newbie; well I've been writing for over twenty years but I have only recently self-published an epic fantasy novel. What I wouldn't give to get some reader feedback!

Autumn Birt | 8 comments Hi, everyone!

My newest book, Dark Uprising A Fae Urban Fantasy Novel (Tainted Fae Book 2) by Autumn M. Birt , if a fae urban fantasy story and will be released this week. Plus, look for the Goodreads Giveaway, coming THIS friday!

The book blurb is...
Changing the world comes at a devastating price!

As a member of Population Zero, October is ready to take on those in power who’ve done nothing to protect the planet she loves. But when the leader of her radical group proves he is willing to go to extremes to fight for his cause, October flees straight into the arms of a dangerous dark fae … the same one she accidentally blood binds to be her protector.

Doubts grow quickly about her tentative saviors on the Vermont farm, where she finds refuge. But what if the strange group of granola farmers hiding from the outside world are more dangerous than the law and politicians hunting for her?

With few places to turn, October must rely on the protection of someone she thinks is crazy. Because if what he claims is the truth of who he is and the world of the fae is real, she’s got a lot more problems than belonging to a murderous domestic terrorist group who thinks she betrayed them while being hunted by the police for questioning over a murder.

Pick up the next book in this exciting fae fantasy series begun in the intro novella, Dark Fae Outcast, and discover a world of lost magic, fading hope, and a dying race. When a human lands in the midst of a group of hiding fae, her arrival threatens to spell the end of one of their last refuges … unless she holds the key to saving it and the dying fae.

Becca Fox | 6 comments Hi there!
Just wanted to tell you all a little about my new adult epic fantasy ebook published through Tirgearr Publishing. Here's a blurb:

On the day the Holgarians attack her town, twenty-year-old Asta is blessed by a warrior god and is empowered with the heightened senses and unnatural healing abilities these foreign invaders possess. Grief-stricken and paralyzed by terror, she’s hauled onto the conquering general’s ship and taken to the island of Holger across the sea.

One year later, Asta graduates from warrior academy with honors and is chosen as one of the king’s personal defenders. She will finally have the opportunity to kill the man who gave the general his orders, and avenge her family. She doesn’t expect the king to be young or kind, or completely oblivious of what his men are doing overseas. He has been told peaceful negotiations are going well, and the natural resources and ambassadors from the mainland seem to support this report. But Asta knows better.

Asta must find proof of the general’s treachery and bring it before the king so that she can save unconquered provinces from meeting the same fate as her hometown. But the king’s counselors suddenly start dying, and the king himself is hounded by foreign assassins. Revenge will have to wait if Asta’s going to keep the king, the mainland’s only hope, alive.

It's got a Pirates of the Caribbean/Princess Bride vibe with a sweet romance, unshakeable friendships, and plenty of action.

Charles II | 4 comments Hello! I'm relatively new to posting on Goodreads, so apologies for any errors in regard to site etiquette.

Over the last year, Corsana has been fully re-edited.
I was doing great before taking it down for revisions, and now I'm looking to get the ball rolling again.

Corsana is an Epic Fantasy that has been compared to Dragonlance.

This is the link: bit.ly/CorsanaPhalanxSyndicate

Blurb:
CK―Christopher Knight―has a secret, he’s a psionic; a human with the ability to will things to happen with the power of his mind. And while he has kept to the shadows, Christopher has always dreamt about being a hero. But hanging from the ceiling of a cave being tortured, and getting his face pummeled by an orc, wasn’t part of the dream.

When merchant ships start capsizing off the coast of Corsana, the port city mayor of Asic is forced to put out the call for adventurers to investigate. Seeing his chance at hand, CK leaps into the fire. Thrust into a hodge-podge group of unknown, untested, mercenaries―each with their own agendas for being there―CK must train, trust, and risk everything to become the hero he wants to be.

Before him lies an unknown destiny, but as that destiny begins to reveal itself, and a villain to focus on emerges, the eyes of a powerful presence―far greater than any he could have imagined―will be drawn to him; that is, if he can survive. And in a world teeming with goblins, orcs, giants, and dragons, and danger lurking around every corner, all odds are against him!

I thank you in advance for your honest reviews.

Nick Edward | 5 comments Hey guys! Relayor (550+ pages on Kindle) (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...) is about to get a 99¢ countdown deal.

The book received some nice reviews before the advertising budget ran out a few years back. Something like 16 in total. If you take out the 2 (unavoidable, it would seem) bad reviews, it gets an average of about 4.7 stars. Amazon has six 5-star reviews, and three that were 4-star. Goodreads, two and three, respectively. It truly is an epic story with great characters. I think you'll find that there's never been anything quite like it.

I know... I've been neglect in my marketing, but the good news is that since those reviews were posted, I've made some very solid upgrades to Relayor's readability (editing your own work is really, really hard). The $0.99 Countdown Deal begins at 8AM Thursday and runs for one week, through Mar 31. Hope you get a copy, and if you like it, I hope you'll give it a nice review. Enjoy, and thanks.

Maite Merino (maitemerino) | 3 comments Hello Vincent,

This is my first book. Hope many people get to read it and although it is the experience of a woman divorced and starting over after many years of marriage, it is also a good resource for men to learn what women go through in that exciting but sometimes awkward new stage in life.

Soltera: When Your Coming of Age Story Begins in Your Fifties

Thank you,
