Kurt Smith (kurtguy9782) | 4 comments Hello all,

My name is Kurt Smith and I am the author of an epic fantasy called The Descendants Book One: The Broken Scroll. It is available in e-book from Amazon, linked through this site. It is the first in planned trilogy and I am hard at work on the second volume.

Take a look at a quick synposis and go check it out. Please feel free to leave me a review.

The Ancient race destroyed itself in the War of Purity a thousand years ago. None survived, or so it is thought. However, two Descendants of this race emerge at a time when the land needs them most…

Two rulers in the land, a king and an army commander, conspire to search for a powerful artifact that could reunite those left in the world with Descendant blood. Davin of Lemirre, a young man who isolates himself from his community, finds out he is Descendant of this same supposedly extinct race of beings about the same time as another Descendant escapes the clutches the kingdom’s army.

Davin must learn to find his way in a world that he has ignored and become proficient with Driocht, a magic that merges dark matter and the Ancients' great intelligence to harness elemental powers. He sets off with the others – all having flaws of their own – on a journey to find the long lost item.

In the end, the true threat will be someone they never expected, connected to the Descendants' violent past, with power they never could have imagined.

Tony Duxbury | 62 comments Tony Leslie Duxbury. REDHAND: Just released on Amazon Kindle. A small edition of short stories, five in all, featuring the same protagonist. A post-apocalyptic sword fantasy. One Goodreads friend claimed that it was very similar to Conan the Barbarian. Although I didn't set out to consciously imitate Robert E. Howard, I'm happy with the comparison. If you like that style, check it out. At only 112 pages, it's a quick and easy read. Those of you who are my friends on Goodreads can request a free copy. Here's the blurb :

It is the new age of barbarism, hundreds of years after the collapse of civilization. Most of the vast knowledge that mankind had accumulated has been lost. The once great cities are either piles of blasted rubble or crumbling ruins. After society imploded, humanity turned on one another. Decades of war followed. The survivors banded together in tribes and clans. All the bullets and bombs have run out. It’s back to edged weapons and blunt instruments. Technology has taken an enormous step backwards, and so has humanity.

He belongs to a band of wanderers, mainly peaceful people who gather and hunt. One day they suffer a raid by a group of warriors and in the aftermath, he finds himself alone. All his family and friends killed, and he left for dead. The only survivor was his little sister, which the raiders kidnapped. He vows to rescue her. After a night of mourning, he sets off to get back his sister, not yet a man and without any idea how to go about it. The shock of the raid and the grief that followed it fundamentally changed him. He surprises himself time and again as he tracks down his sister’s kidnappers and gets her back.

Anyway recent rumors concerning faked videos of the first known lunar landing are the gist of the story “Rebekah’s Relative” as published in the June 2018 issue of APHELION WEBZINE. Torry (wolfie0001) Last year I challenged myself to participate in National Novel Writing Month. Much to my surprise, I completed the challenge and wrote an actual book! And now I finally decided to go ahead and publish it with KDP.

The story was inspired by one of my visits to Arizona. It’s about a gay teenage werewolf who is looking for his roots, and who finds so much more than he bargained for. His journey takes him to Arizona and Montana, and even beyond the boundaries of our world. He falls in love and has to face a demon, poachers and a rogue wolf pack.

It’s not high literature, but I enjoyed writing it and I think it didn’t turn out too bad :)

Jo (jodefordbooksgmailcom) | 4 comments Hi, I'm Jo.
I've just self-published my first book. The Secret must be kept is a werewolf tale, but with a new spin on the old story. Most of all its a love story about two people who have very good reasons not to get involved with the other. When they finally give into their desires, he introduces her to a world she could not have imagined. When her life is threatened from an unexpected source he risks everything to save her.
This book has something for everyone. Love, sex, unspeakable crime, humor, and I hope some unforgettable characters.
You can find it on Amazon.
After reading some other introductions I have found some books I have got to check out.

Alex Raizman | 3 comments Published my first novel on Amazon a little bit ago, figured I'd share here!

Weird Theology: Small Worlds Book 1

The end of the world is non-negotiable. How it happens is still up in the air.

Ryan Smith was a boring guy. The only remotely interesting thing about him was the man in a suit that no one else could see. Always watching, always taking notes. Why? Because it’s Ryan’s job to supervise the end of the world. The newly appointed guardian of a nanoverse, an object that gives him the power of a god, it’s up to Ryan to try and save humanity, even though he can’t save the world. Shockingly, not everyone is on board with the end of the world, especially Enki, a villain so terrible he...wants to save the world.

At least things have stopped being boring.

Now Ryan finds himself in a fast paced adventure, caught in the power struggle between gods as he is forced to battle for his life against forces he can barely comprehend. A high octane battle between good and evil, where the heroes’ best hope is a kinder, gentler Armageddon.

Sidney Gray | 1 comments Hi, I’m Sidney Gray. I love reading and writing fantasy and my debut novel, The Ashen Queen, is available on Amazon.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Sofia Addington’s future had been planned out for her the minute she was born: to become the Queen of Arandale. The only problem was, that was the last thing she wanted. So for years she hid away from her responsibilities (with the help of her invisibility) until finally it caught up with her and she was pressured to make decisions that would affect her future when all the nobility gathered for a magical tournament held every 6 years.

However, before she could make any decisions an old friend suddenly appeared and she was thrown into a world of magic that she didn’t even know existed, she learned that everything was not as it seemed and her people were in grave danger. There was a darkness spreading throughout her land and she was the only one who could stop it, she just had to figure out how.

With the help of new friends, Sofia embarked on an adventure that would take her to places she never thought possible and help her see that she is stronger then she ever realised.

Robin Gregory (ragregory) | 3 comments Hi everyone!

Robin Alexander Gregory here, author of Drynwideon, The Sword of Destiny - Yeah, Right, possibly the world's first 'anti-fantasy' novel.

An ancient, weather-beaten but still rather handsome barbarian, scales the pitiless slopes of Mount Terror on a dark and stormy night, to finish the task that he should have completed twenty years before… and spectacularly fails in the process.

Jump forward one thousand years and meet Drin, the half-starved, sarcastic and one hundred per cent self-centred inhabitant of a village reduced to cannibalism under the brutal rule of Ka, the Dragon Princess.

Drin’s the hero of our story, although he doesn’t know it yet and if he did, he wouldn’t want the job anyway. His only desire is to live another day and avoid being nibbled on by his ever-hungry village mates. However, life doesn’t always go the way you plan and he finds himself thrust head first (quite literally) into a most unwelcome adventure, involving enchanted forests, savage pygmies and a group of the most dim-witted barbarians ever to grace the page.

With a supporting cast consisting of a urine drinking, claustrophobic-agoraphobic dwarf, a psychotic half-fairy and the world’s most faithful half-rabbit, half-dog for a companion, the only questions are whether he will survive their company and if he does ever manage to get the keys to the castle, what on earth is he going to do with them?

Available for a very modest fee from Amazon, Smashwords and at https://www.rob-gregory.com I'm happy to send out PDF versions of the manuscript for free, in exchange for honest reviews on Goodreads and the above sites. Just drop an email to: info@rob-gregory.com if you are interested.

Thank you and happy reading!

Jethro Punter | 9 comments Hello All,

My Novel - The Boy Who Dreamt the World is currently free on Amazon to celebrate the release of book 2 in the series - quick blurb below so you can see if it is your kind of thing. It was written as a Mid Grade Fantasy Adventure Novel, but can definitely be enjoyed by older readers too.

Adam is living the dream - literally.....

There are two worlds which have always lived alongside each other, The Waking World and the Great Dream, Reverie. Adam is living a very ordinary life until he becomes aware of the link between the worlds and discovers that, as a Daydreamer, he is one of the very few people who can travel freely between the two and achieve impossible things.

You would think that being in control of your dreams would be fun. But when both worlds are threatened by a new and growing danger and when Nightmares not only roam the dream world but also start chasing him even while he is awake, Adam realises that he will need all of his new found powers just to survive the night.

With the help of a very unusual band of friends Adam now has to save both worlds, discover more about his past and, if he can, try and avoid yet another detention.

Thanks very much

I'am Anna Brusha and I write romantic fantasy. My books were published in Russia and I found that people liked them))
So I decided to translate one into English (with the help of a professional translator).

According to reviews on Amazon the story is funny and fresh.

Meet Russian witch Maya.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G8GF1CK

The Witch by Mistake by Anna Brusha

Life becomes more interesting if you make mistakes...But not that much, devils take you!

When you start making mistakes, it's hard to stop. However, life becomes more interesting. Maya’s life has definitely become. Even too much. The first mistake and there is no job, the second one and an unplanned move from Moscow... into the magical world! A real one! With demons and suspicious hunters looking for demons. The third mistake, and Maya has already been ranked as a witch, which is really a big problem. Now the main thing is not to make new mistakes and get home as soon as possible. However, it is so difficult, especially if love interferes in the plans.

James Wallace (james_wallace) | 7 comments Hello all! I am new to this group.

My latest book, Tales From The River , has just been published. It is a collection of 33 stories and vignettes, including action-adventure, fantasy, ghostly, romantic, and dramas about friendship, love, and life itself.

I might have broken the "rules" by including stories for young children, middle schoolers, teens, and adults, but these are the stories that sprang from my imagination during my sunrise walks in Mississippi. Many of them transcend place and time.

The fantasy stories are in Parts One and Two (young children and middle school age) and include (beside elves and trolls) new creatures called sproots.

I'll post in each applicable category (hope that's ok - I read the rules!).

If anyone has recommendations about other groups to join, I welcome the input.

Ida Beyer (idabeyer) | 19 comments Hi all!
I would like to present my fantasy duo "Spirit Warrior".

Spirit Warrior: The Keeper of the Northern Gate
Spirit Warrior: The Keeper of the Northern Gate

Folktales and legends are the essence of childhood, but there comes a time when they must be left behind. One must grow up.
But when The Princess of Kaupa, is married off to the King of the Theas. What seems to be a match made by the avaricious King of Kaupa, turns out to be a match made by the gods.
Folktales and legends are the essence of childhood, but there comes a time when they must be left behind. Or must they?

* * *

I tilt my head to look at him. I have tears in my eyes; one is running down my cold cheek. I see his eyes widen and him falling to his knees beside the tub. He grasps my left arm forcefully, his eyes wide with fear.
“You will never have me…" My voice breaks, but I manage to force out the words that are edged in my mind, and in my heart.
"I curse you, everything you ever love shall die, everything you ever try shall fail, everything you ever wish for shall be denied you, my curse will ruin you, but the gods... the gods will end you...” I draw in a shaky breath, and gather the last of my strength.
"The gods are as sardonic as they are vengeful... You shall die by the hand of The Spirit Warrior..."
In the few moments after I say those words, there is utter silence and the only thing I hear is the sound of my blood hitting the water in the tub, which is already painted red. I see him opening his mouth and yell at me, yelling my name, but I hear nothing. I close my eyes and I feel only the blood steadily dropping from my wrist.
"Put me in the same coffin..."

Spirit Warrior: The Son of the North
Spirit Warrior: The Son of the North

Cay dreams about becoming a warrior in the armies of Pathria. With his status as an orphan and a slave that dream can never become reality. Or can it?

Suddenly Cay's lost identity recovered by chance, but accepting his rightful place in this world is not without sacrifice. Things and beings he once thought was no more than the stuff of legends are now a part of his past, and if he takes his rightful place in life, the place long decided by the gods, they will become a part of his future.
The question is, will he be who he is destined to be? Will he walk in his father's footsteps? Or will he turn his back on who he truly is - a Spirit Warrior?

* * *

Rebecca just wants to be free. Free of expectations, free of prejudice, free of injustice and free of traditions. She wants to travel where her heart desires, but she is bound. She is bound to her mother and father who will decide for her, until she marries and then her husband can make decisions on her behalf.

Such was the life of a woman, and such is the life of a woman. Such is her life, until she meets a Spirit Warrior who allows her to make her own decisions, her own choices.

When Rebecca finds herself with the power to make choices that can change the course of her whole life, she falters. Will she be able to free herself of the fear that keeps her confined? And will she be able to choose the life that she really wants, instead of the life that everyone else wishes for her?

Kira Wilson | 15 comments Greetings, all!

I've been a member of this group for a couple months but after checking out a few of the interesting fellow authors and books in this thread, I've finally worked up the courage to add our first fantasy duology: Twilight of the Ailendar.

(Note: My husband Jon and I are co-authors, so if you find it odd that I make references to "our books" or "we're happy to present X", no I don't have a split personality or imaginary friend. Just a super awesome partner-in-crime!)

The War of Blood and Iron
"Here's a lesson for you. In order to get an important job done, you have to do things that others don't expect, appreciate, or have any desire to do."

Like take on an army of magic-infused, evil statues marauding across the world, just for the chance to see your wife again.

Dronkhar is a hard-bitten, Bloodfire warrior desperate the save his kidnapped love. Ilinnia is a young spiritualist of the Watery Moon Tribe, on a journey to discover her powers. A chance meeting throws these two unlikely companions right in the path of an unspeakable evil, and the world as they know it is about to change forever.

Available through KU and for purchase on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Blood-Iron-Twi...

The War of Moon and Shadow
"You don't think the awakening of an evil god warrants breaking a couple rules?"

For four years, living shadows have been seeping up from the cursed realm of the Underdark. Four years of disquiet, destruction and fear... strange circumstances for love to blossom between Jhellen, a young captain in the army of Delnoth, and Alyan, the king of Delnoth's only daughter, but fate has a twisted sense of humor and very poor timing.

The Dar'Gol that Dronkhar and Ilinnia faced were only the beginning. A war begun millenia ago between gods and monsters has been brewing under the surface of the world, and it's about to erupt. Familiar faces must join forces with new allies from all of the races and kingdoms of the world if anyone hopes to survive...

Available through KU and for purchase on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Moon-Shadow-Tw...

We've also been working on a series of short stories set in the Ailendar universe to flesh out a few side characters and races. These will eventually be bundled and sold together, but for now they are available for reading on our website:

Jamie Stewart | 69 comments Hi, folks. I'm selling my newly published short story, Insular, for cheap prices worldwide. If anyone's interested in a good read that topped the UK Amazon Best Seller's List in less than a week, grab a copy. The book blurb can be found people.

‘Remember now, the others and I were working people, working to get by, month to month. They keep their heads down and push through, and when they can, they dream.
Their dreams are an escape. That wasn't possible with Julian stalking the aisles, his ever-grey pallor, his wasted figure serving as a reality check. That's what was scary.
When there were no dreams anymore.’

Julian Kensi is about to start his first day in retail.

What he doesn’t know is that to his supervisor, Peter Smith, he is just another pawn to be used in his rise to the top. That is until Julian begins to act strangely.

As Peter attempts to learn more, his ruthless methods cause events to take a macabre turn beyond control.

Insular a short story about one man’s life-long fear and regret. It’s a story about obsession, the power of a person’s imagination, and the terrible consequences once this imagination has been unleashed. It is perfect for fans of Stephen King, Dean Kootnz, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Joe Hill, H.P Lovecraft and Shirley Jackson.

Constantina Maud (constantinamaud) | 7 comments Hi everyone,
I'm really excited to join this group! As a reader, fantasy became one of my favourite genres long after I had already been venturing in classic literature waters, but it has remained with me ever since. Now, as a writer, I have been writing fantasy for 15 years and cannot say I regret a single comma of it. If you're interested, I'd be thrilled if you checked out my latest novel Hydranos !
Looking forward to being a member of this lovely group and sharing views on fantasy genre ~

S.J. Hartland (sjhartland) | 1 comments Hi all, still getting my head around how to post so hopefully this ends up in the right place! Thanks for letting me share this info!!

I'm an emerging epic fantasy writer from the Darling Downs, Australia. The 19th Bladesman is the first in a new series about fatherhood and letting go of power.

Am so very grateful for a couple of early reviews ...

"An engaging and intricate fantasy that delivers plenty of political intrigue." - Kirkus Reviews
...
"An epic fantasy journey into an ancient, fabled world that beckons with echoes of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.A debut novel from an author we're keeping our eyes on." - Chanticleer Reviews

Here's a bit of a blurb.
His duty is to die young, but fate has something far more lethal in mind.
If Kaell breaks, the kingdom breaks with him. And prophecy says the 19th Bladesman will break ...
The Bonded Warrior …
Kill. Die young. That’s what a swordsman bonded to the ancient gods does. Without expecting praise from the man who trained him to survive this centuries-old, malignant war against the inhuman followers of an invincible lord. But Kaell wants more. More of Val Arques’ attention, his approval. Just more.
The broken …
Val Arques is a bladesman of formidable power entrusted not only with Kaell’s life but with the truth that will destroy him. He cannot afford to care about the young warrior. For love means loss. And Val Arques has a shameful secret ...
Kind regards, Susan.

Tony Moral (tonyleemoral) | 9 comments Hello,
My name is Tony Lee Moral and I'm an author of a new fantasy and magic realism novel called "The Haunting of Alice May" which is published today by Sabana Publishing on Amazon in Paperback and Kindle. I'm the author of three books on Alfred Hitchcock and specialise in mystery and suspense. I hope you enjoy the book and send me a message if you have any questions about the story or Alfred Hitchcock.
Tony

Synopsis
Alice May Parker moves with her family to the sleepy town of Pacific Grove after her Mom dies, but little does she know the strange and terrifying events to come. When she falls into the bay during a kayaking trip, she is rescued from drowning by the mysterious Henry Raphael. Handsome, old fashioned and cordial, he is unlike any other boy she has known before. Intelligent and romantic, he sees straight into her soul. Soon Alice and Henry are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance until she finds out that Henry is not all what he seems. . .

Reviews
"A supernatural mystery, a coming of age story with romance, faith and hope. The biggest theme in the novel is what it means to be alive, focusing on Alice as she tries to navigate her grief for her mother, her new relationship, and her family. As history, a curse and ghosts plague the town, life and death are tackled in a unique way. Tony Lee Moral doesn't shy away from his characters questioning belief, and they are confronted with whether they need to see to believe, or believe to see. The plot comes full circle by the end, but the last page will leave you wanting more. It's clear this is just the beginning for Alice. A must read with strong prose that carries an eerie undercurrent, slowly delving into details as the mystery unfolds." - Readers Favorite"

“Overall, I thought it was an excellent take on an old seaside ghost story and the descriptions of the bay were wonderful. I felt fully in the story as if I were there myself and would recommend this read to anyone who loves fiction with a supernatural twist.” – Paranormal Romance Guild

“An enjoyable adventure story filled with love, angst and ghosts.” – Writing Times

“Moral has a great story, with twists and turns that keep the reader turning the pages. It is part love story, part thriller – hardly surprising given Moral’s previous work. The magical realism is a new diversion. . . It’s clever.” – Julia Webb Harvey

“This book is a great read for anyone who loves a great ghost story or paranormal romance.” – Debbie McClure

“I loved the setting of this novel – Monterey, CA. It definitely added to the story and felt real. I liked Henry and some of the other characters.” – The Story Sanctuary

Voted among 13 Ghost stories to read and enjoy on Halloween – The Treasured Bookshelf

Boris Slocum (boris_slocum) | 4 comments Wergild A Heartwarming Tale of Coldblooded Vengeance by Boris Slocum

Hi, All,

I’m Boris Slocum, and my dark fantasy novella, Wergild: A Heartwarming Tale of Coldblooded Vengeance, is published by 3B Independent Publishers, a small startup of which I’m a partner. I seek one or more dedicated and insightful readers for reviews.

Wergild tells the story of Deirdre, a farm girl in the fictional land of Albion, whose grief at the murder of a beloved family member is too much to bear, and she sets out on a quest to find retribution, even if that means the cost of her very soul. It’s a story about blood, vengeance, and, oddly enough, friendship and loyalty.

I’m a lifelong writer, worked for 8 years as an editor at a non-fiction publishing house in Chicago, and have scribbled fiction (for my own amusement) for more years than I can count. This is my first foray into fiction publishing, and it has been an experience that is delightful beyond words.

Interested parties can contact me by direct message, or via email, at boris.slocum@gmail.com

Thanks very much for your time.

Best regards,

Boris
