If you like contemporary folk tales - stories with a touch of fantasy, a bit of philosophy and a nod towards religion - then you might enjoy my novella "The Little Dog". This is on a freebee at Amazon kindle tomorrow 3o June. It goes without saying, I trust, that I would appreciate as many reviews as possible - one good turn..... as they say. Thanks.

Lauren Garcia (laloga) | 16 comments Hi there! :) My name is Lauren, and I write fantasy novels.

My first published novel, Catalyst Moon: Incursion, is a fantasy, with romance and adventure. It's slated for release later this month, and I would love some reviews! (Who wouldn't, right?)

Here's the Goodreads page: Incursion

Here is the synopsis:

***
There is balance in all things.

Those who live and breathe magic; those who guard the world against it. Those who heal; those who tear asunder. Those who must choose their paths; those who chose long ago.

The One god shaped the world to exist in perfect harmony...until Seren, the second moon appeared, bringing magic and throwing humanity into chaos. Now, mages are captives, guarded by high walls and highly-trained sentinels, men and women who ingest a dangerous substance to gain an immunity to magic. Only then can they protect the world from the magic-users and abide by their oath: Honor. Service. Sacrifice.

Kali, a crippled mage who longs to run from the painful memories of her deceased father, travels to Whitewater City to meet with a powerful healer. When her sentinel escort is decimated by monstrous bandits, she is left in the company of a single sentinel, Stonewall, a man with nothing left but his chosen name and his faith in the gods. Together, they must survive demonic creatures, bloodthirsty nomads, and a strange magic never seen before.

But trouble brews in Whitewater City. Sentinel Commander Talon struggles to keep the mages captive as Eris, a shape-changing mage, prepares for an escape of her own. Meanwhile, Milo, a new sentinel, must decide if the path he's chosen is the right one after tragedy strikes his squad.

Catalyst Moon: Incursion is an epic fantasy with notes of romance that introduces an old world where magic is new...and rebellion is on the horizon.

Ryan Troske | 49 comments I am looking to get some reviews on my newly published novel, The Rising (Supernaturals book 1), and am offering free ebooks to those interested. If you enjoy superheroes of any kind, X-men, Percy Jackson, and similar works, you will enjoy this book. Summary below.

Ethan is just an ordinary teenage boy—infatuated with sports music and, of course, girls. Or so he thinks. Heading home on a rainy night from an amateur guitar gig, he finds his life turned completely upside down—literally. His car spins and flips out of control after what he believes to be a small animal jumps out in front of him. The horrific accident is only the beginning of a series of mysterious and seemingly unrelated events that will change his life forever.

After awaking in the hospital, and following an encounter with an enigmatic doctor, Ethan discovers that something that occurred during the wreck allows him to hear others' thoughts, and even more perplexing, move objects with his mind. While trying to wrap his head around this mystery, he realizes he’s not alone. There are others out there with special powers. Not long after learning of this new world, Ethan’s ever increasing lack of control places those around him at serious risk. In order to protect those he loves, he makes the difficult decision to leave and accepts an offer to attend specialized training along with other so called Supernaturals to gain command over his newfound gifts. Shortly after beginning his schooling, Ethan is sent on a mission to kidnap who he believes to be the enemy leader in a well concealed Supernaturals war. But the further he becomes embedded in this new world, the more he discovers things are not quite what they seem and doesn't know who can be trusted.

In this first installment of the Supernaturals series, Ethan discovers that super powers aren’t always so super, and is faced with difficult decisions that will not only affect his own life, but which may determine the life or death of his newfound companions and mentor.

If interested in doing a review, please send me a private message. Thanks.

Cameron Hayden | 1 comments I'd love some reviews and comments if you've got the time.

Sixteen-year-old Taro lost his right leg years ago, but with a family to support, he doesn’t let it slow him down. For years he’s worked for a notorious crime lord named Victor Mathan. Mathan deals in stolen magical artifacts and trusts Taro to finish his work with as few questions as possible.

When an absurdly well-paying job comes up, Taro is quick to volunteer. Mathan wants him to break a powerful sorceress out of jail, but her prison is under the control of an ancient military order called the Magisterium. To get to her, Taro must pose as a Magisterium recruit. The courses are grueling, the trials drive students mad, and the magic they teach can be as deadly to the caster as it is to the target.

When the time comes to free the sorceress and collect his pay, Taro is horrified to find that her freedom will lead to the deaths of his friends and thousands of others. However, Mathan makes it clear that not living up to their agreement is a death sentence for Taro’s family.

E.M. Thomas | 6 comments Greetings, all,

I recently released my novel, an epic fantasy in the vein of GoT with flavors of Ancient Rome (to the extent that's not redundant). I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and look forward to doing the same for others. The back cover blurb follows the link below.

The Bulls of War

"'All the land is tinder; it braces for the spark.'

In the ancient land of Andervold, the Rokhish Empire maintains a fragile truce with hated Valogar. The tenuous state of affairs has split the Imperial Capital into hostile power-brokering factions: the Sudos fight to keep the peace, while the Nortics seek renewed battle at any cost. From the highest minister to the lowest merchant, everyone has to pick a side eventually, lest it be chosen for them.

Kyrus and his lifelong friend Tyghus learn this lesson the hard way. Although they are veterans of battlefields a thousand miles south, the men are no match for the Capital’s ruthless statesmen, and they unwittingly find themselves on opposite sides of the factional divide. Tensions rise, loyalties fray, and hearts are broken, all as words of peace are increasingly drowned out by the drumbeats of war. As the men grasp at the remnants of their fleeting friendship, the Empire lurches toward a conflict that could tear it apart.

The Bulls of War is Book I of the Chronicles of the Andervold Thrones, a sweeping tale of love and war, honor and betrayal, life and death, set in an empire whose glory days seem long past."

Benita Thompson (benitajthompsonauthor) Hi everyone! I'm the author of two epic fantasy novels; my writing is greatly influenced by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.

Starscape by Benita J. Prins Starscape

A legend that tells of a star...

When Pluriel is accidentally reminded of an old prophecy, he and three companions begin the long journey to Nevarra Swamp. Their mission? A nearly hopeless attempt to recapture the Sword of the Star, stolen centuries ago by Jalavak. This Sword is the only weapon which can defeat the Dark Lord, for he was wounded by it in the war of the Valintari at the dawn of time.

But what can Pluriel, Ringard, Galdore and Tristal do alone? For if the prophecy is to be fulfilled, the Star itself must fall from the sky – and how could such a thing come to pass?

Seascape by Benita J. Prins Seascape

When faced with the impossible and the unthinkable, choose the impossible.

All that fifteen-year-old Einur Landman has left in the world are his flock of sheep and his beloved little sister. The entire purpose of his life is to keep Lody safe from the Illyrië. But what he never expected was that it would be his own name that was drawn for the child sacrifice. Leaving Lody with his promise to return, Einur escapes into the wild where he meets a stranger who outlines a way to bring down the Illyrië. Forced to choose between Lody’s probable death and taking on the powerful Illyrië, Einur takes the latter.

In his quest from his mountain village, through countless dangers, to the sea itself, everything Einur believes will be tested. For Lody's sake, can he make a final crucial choice and stand firm to the end?

K.G. Reuss (kgreuss) | 14 comments Hello

My book was recently published and I wanted to share it with everyone. It's currently on sale on Amazon Kindle for 99 cents until the 11th of August. It probably belongs in more than just this category though since it does have a romance plot to it as well as magical realism. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HYTWRIW#...
I've also supplied the blurb about it below. Thanks!

Ana Winters is a beautiful, but somewhat socially awkward, seventeen-year-old, who has had a crush on her friend, star quarterback and heartthrob Kellin James, ever since they met at Lincoln High. When the charming, enigmatic, and devastatingly handsome Calix Night shows up at the school, Ana finds herself suddenly and quite unexpectedly the subject of a rivalry between Kellin and Calix as the two vie for her affection.

But Ana has more pressing problems in the form of blinding headaches, strange dreams, visions, and possible hallucinations, including something flitting through her mirror and her hands bursting into flames. After Calix saves Ana from an army of shadowy, supernatural creatures, he relates a story that sounds like a fairy tale, complete with evil kings, warring knights, and a princess named Analia. Is it mere coincidence that his tale is nearly identical to Ana’s frightening dreams and visions and that her name is so similar to the princess in the tale?

Could Ana really be royalty from another world who is being protected by—or perhaps is the prey of—two others from that world in the form of Kellin and Calix? And if so, why? Could it be true that she was sent to Earth Realm to keep her from a man who is almost literally her other half, the darkness to her light and the death to her life, because their union would create unimaginable powers that could be used for evil—and maybe good?

message 1319: by Erin (new)

Erin McCarter (erinannmccarter) | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm Erin, and I just published a fantasy novel called Caladrius Dreams, if anyone is interested in something new to read! It's a YA novel, but clean enough to be read by children and complicated enough to be interesting for older adults :) Here's a synopsis if you are interested, and a link to the book on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is...

Caladrius Dreams is the story of Calli, a young girl whose life is forever altered after a chance meeting with the King’s Guard, Master Arcturus Sheridan.

As Calli struggles to make sense of the world that has opened up around her, she must learn quickly the implications of her new role and place in society.

On top of it all is the dreams. What are they, and where do they come from? Mysterious and foreboding, Calli feels driven to discovering their source — lest she lose her clutch on reality altogether.

Taking subtle hints from literature such as Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia, and the works of William Shakespeare, Caladrius Dreams is a story of poverty, power struggles between the classes, nobility, adventure, self-discovery, friendship, and magic.

R.J. Gilbert (rjagilbert) | 33 comments I'm not sure if I've introduced myself here before, but I've written a few not-quite-genre fantasy adventures myself.

Men of Renown by Robert J.A. Gilbert
Men of Renown is a sword-and-sorcery adventure that explores the world of Atlantis based on a blend of science as well as the legends of Plato and the story of Noah from the Bible.

I have also written three fantasy/sci-fi blend adventures in the Tales of Vantoria series.
The Sarian's Sword (Tales of Vantoria book 1) by Robert J.A. Gilbert The Lucky and the Strong (Tales of Vantoria book 2) by Robert J.A. Gilbert Dungeon of Illusion (Tales of Vantoria 3) by Robert J.A. Gilbert
These adventures take place in a world that blends multiple genres together--from fairy tale fantasy to wizards and dragons to flying cars and high-tech warfare. My goal in writing was to explore diversity in a fantasy environment where people with very different backgrounds and beliefs can come together in adventures that force them to explore their differences.

My latest TOV adventure, Dungeon of Illusion, is free this weekend for any kindle readers who would like to give it a try.

The Goddess rested for the act of creation had drained her of her power. Adam was filled with hubris and named himself God among men.

His pride corrupted the creation of the Goddess and perverted mankind. War between Adam and the Goddess raged in the heavens. The Fae, the siblings of mankind, waged war on their rebellious brothers and sisters. Princess Althea of Ronan hoped to have just a few days of freedom after she snuck out of the palace in the middle of the night. Instead, she finds herself abducted and sold into slavery in the neighboring desert land of Zaityra… where she comes face to face with Sultan Ezhad.

Enamored with the wayward lady of Ronan, Sultan Ezhad promises to change her negative view of his land and keep her safe as she remains a guest in his palace.

Alone and afraid of the sultan finding out her true title, she keeps the secret that could topple an empire. But she finds herself not as alone as she thought when she discovers the Ronan spy in their midst. Together they must find a way to safely return her home without being found out and avoid the threat of war.

John Milton | 4 comments Hi. My name is John Milton. I launched my first Book, Rise of the Trekken about 3 months ago and will be releasing book 2 in a couple of month. In an effort to build my readership and mailing list (I only plan on sending out updates on promotions and new releases once a month) I am giving away book 1 if you sign up for my newsletter. I also have a Giveaway listed to celebrate the launch of book 2.
Rise of the Trekken Rise of the Trekken (The Blood War Chronicles, #1) by John Milton
Below is the link and a description of my book.

http://eepurl.com/cf-YWz

After 5000 years of peace, a powerful Trekken prince has once more begun uniting the warring clans. Taller and stronger than any other race in Marazion, the Trekken are fearsome warriors with the ability to tap the power of blood. Trekken blood mages sacrifice slaves in torturous rites, creating terrifying spells and ferocious beasts. The stronger the life force and magical energy of the sacrifice, the more potent the spell. When Gwydion, a young elf, disobeys his parents and travels close to the border of the Bloodlands, he stumbles upon more than he expected: a Trekken slaving raid. Gwydion’s initial heroism in saving the nearby village from the raid is only the first step in his adventure. He must survive the prestigious Royal Academy of Arm, the Trials, and perhaps the hardest, the journey towards mastery of his el’ar: the elves’ mystical connection to the power of the elements. Vastly outnumbered by their Trekken enemies, the elvish mastery of the elements and the majestic ironwood trees that fuel their powers will not be enough. Is it too late? Or will the elves be able to revitalize their alliances with their old allies in time? Gwydion has vowed to oppose them, but will his efforts be enough

Noor Al-Shanti Hey everyone! I love reading and writing fantasy fiction. I've only recently begun publishing my fantasy stories. Here's the latest one:

Wandering Storm by Noor Al-Shanti

Loud banging resounded throughout the house. The housekeeper pushed a servant aside and wrenched the door open angrily. A man stood on the threshold, dripping rain and mud and blood.
A stormy night brings Wandering sailors to a sleepy farming town in the High Kingdoms. (Short Story in the Tales from the Circle Series)

S. Thomas (sshanethomas) | 8 comments S Shane Thomas is the author of Anki Legacies. It currently consists of two novels and a collection of short stories.

In the near future, humanity discovers that the lost city of Atlantis is actually a colonial starship brought to Earth by ancient aliens. Nations and corporations pool resources to form LARC- the League of Atlantis Reborn Colonies and reverse engineer the ancient technology. Their adventures on these starships and beyond are the Anki Legacies.

Understanding magic through the scientific method is a recurring theme. Finding the meaning of consciousness and what qualifies a being as a person drives much of the conflict.

Please take a look at my Anki Legacies flash fiction at http://www.larc-scifi.com. There is also an interesting collaboration and self promotion option at the bottom of the Navbar called "Your Web Submissions."

Μαρία Δανιήλ | 1 comments ΑγκάρταΜαρία Δανιήλ

Hello!

My name is Maria Daniil and I'm a fantasy writer. My latest book is called "Agarta" and is a post-apocalyptic fantasy novel. The story is based upon the theory of the Hollow Earth, according to which the earth is hollow and there is a secret civilization inside it. That civilization has greater technology and science achievements that ours and apart from that the Agartians hold archives from the surface world. It is lighted by the inside sun, seasons never change, it never rains or snows, the wind never blows and the temperature is still. They worship the Mist God who is supposed to live in the mist around the inside sun. One can reach the hollow earth from the holes in North and South Pole or by following hidden tunnels under great cities of the earth, like Athens and Rome.
That's for they theory.

As for the book:
Post Wolrd War III Athens reminds nothing of the city's old days. Hunger, ecological dissaster, poverty and the dictator make things worse. Valerie is one of the few revolutionaries who provide food and medicine for those who hide at the city's tunnels. She dreams of a better world, where people will be free to sing on the streets under a bright sun. While Valerie dreams of such things, Dian Keht, the head of the Council of the Chosen Ones, dreams of a world where the people of the surface and his people -the Agartians- will live together, united. Their acquaintance and Valeria's travel to Agarta is only the start of series of events that changed human history.

The book is written in greek.

Have a nice evening everybody!!
