Welcome Fantasy Authors and Readers!

I'll start out by saying hi! New to this group and so happy to be here :) I look forward to connecting with other authors and fellow readers, as I dabble in both writing and reading fantasy fiction.
As for the giveaway, if anyone is interested in reading an e-copy (any format) of my novel Tournament of Hearts let me know through a personal message or right here!
It's a high-fantasy, story-driven, action-packed novel and has reviewed quite favorably on both Goodreads and Amazon.
Thanks for your time! Happy reading everyone :)

From sorrow and from rage

Shall again be one.

The most talented Shape-Shifter ever born, only he can save Princess Iyumi from a Witch’s evil, and help her find the child of prophecy. Only she knows where to find the child spoken of in the ancient prophecy, the child who will unite two feuding countries and protect the world of magic from obliteration. Caught between two warring men, only her love is hers to give, to offer to the only man she ever wanted.
Prince Flynn: Despised by his own people, cruelly abused by his father, he fights to hide his magical gifts from those who would slay him for possessing them. SHORT TERM 12 meets THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA in this story of a young teen struggling to reconcile a forgotten past, and a torrid escape to a new world.
Wyatt can't believe he's been sent to The Shepherd's Crook, a treatment center for behaviorally disturbed youth, but he's found an escape. Or more accurately, an escape has found him, in the form of a magic amulet. However, he is at the mercy of this new power as it bounces him between worlds at random.
In Hagion, he is seen as a Druid of myth and legend, returned to save the world with ancient magic.
At the Crook, the stunning Athena thinks he can free her as well, and he can't help but pledge to do so.
In both worlds, he is wanted dead. Despite that, he is certain he can save all those that call on him.
But, he's not crazy. Honest, he's not.
He's just Wyatt. Wyatt the Mighty.
It's got a YA feel to it, though it tackles, and will continue to tackle, adult issues as revolve around kids in Wyatt's position. It was inspired by my experience working at a center that The Shepherd's Crook was based on, and Wyatt was inspired by a particular resident that I saw as I reflection of myself. Please, check it out. I think it will appeal to a wide group of readers.

I am a new christian author and was hoping to see if maybe some of the people in this group might check out my book.
Here's the synopsis:
On the sixth day of creation, God created man. Mankind was aware of God and His creation, but also of the creative potential entrusted to them. Before The Flood - in the midst of an overpopulated world and an increasingly defiant race - mankind turned to space for expansion, and then created a ship capable of reaching the stars. One star in particular, which held a planet in its rotation capable of sustaining life. Guided by their desires for expansion, a group of our ancestors left to settle and populate the distant planet.
Will's story, however, begins nearly 4,500 years later, on the dark side of the moon...

Synopsis: Prince Gabriel of Rhyddon is the reluctant heir to the faerie kingdom of Eilithia. It’s said that there is nothing more beautiful than Eilithia and the Tylwyth Teg faeries that live there. Gabriel would disagree. Since being enchanted by the seductive temptress Aneira, a powerful witch who spoke his name four years ago, he has not seen the beauty in anything. Imprisoned by indifference and oblivious to any power but Aneira’s corrupting passion, Prince Gabriel’s mind may no longer be his own, but he will never give her his heart. That was taken from him long ago, and only glimmers of that joyous pledge keep him sane.
Somewhere across the earthly realm of Wales, Taryn of Hamilhawk dreams of a magical forest with music in its trees and a man who holds her heart in his hands. But she’s afraid of magic and, looking out her lonely tower window, prays each night to forget him. She has no idea that soon she will be his wife and that she will somehow save both him and herself from a force that threatens their future. She would never imagine that her path to passionate love will be filled with faeries, a talking tree, and a shape-changing king… and best it not be revealed until Taryn is free to bring her own magnificence and resilience to bear.
All she knows is that he calls out to her in her dreams. “Save me, Taryn.”
And her heart, no matter how she tries to deny it, must answer.

I am using trial and error for my science fiction book, Blood On Borrowed Wings.
I have gone in with a bid for clicks at 10 cents. This is way below the average, but I have a small budget and am just trying a few different things.
There were up to 30000 impressions in 4 days.
There were 160 clicks and 4 purchases.
At the 10 cents rate and with 4 orders made, I made 74% profit (the remaining 26% went on paying for the 160 clicks.)
I ran another campaign, changing the key words / tags and got more impressions and clicks in 4 days but less purchases.
I think a lot is down to the keywords you list in your campaign. This can greatly affect the amount of traffic your ad attracts and the relevance of your book to the people who click on the ad.
The way I see it is this; if the advertising is paying for itself with book orders then it is a good thing. In a way it is not costing me anything to get my book 'out there' but it is getting more exposure and purchases and potential buzz and word of mouth recommendations and reviews. If I break even at that, I am happy.
If however you want to make some money and ship volume then I cannot advise.
I have no idea of what would happen if I put in a higher click bid.
For example if I double down at 20 cents per click - will I sell twice as many books?
To sum up, I think it is another tool in the tool box, a way of getting exposure for your book and more potential sales.
But I think it may be dependent on your budget and personal aims. On the bid price you place on clicks. On the relevance of your ad / book to your target market and the keywords and description you put on there to 'entice' readers in.
It may be worth you searching some blogs for other author's experiences. There are some really good ones out there, who have offered up their own stats and figures to explain in more detail, how it works.
Why not give it a try with a. Minimum budget set and short running timeframe and see how it goes.
I did that, and I only, so far, have gained from trying.
Good luck David.
Hope this helps.
PS - If you like my reply why not check out by book BLOOD ON BORROWED WINGS, you might like that too.

How long does it take to change a person’s life from happy to terrifying?
How long was I normal before that part of me was taken away?
How long would I live in fear after that?
After being attacked by something she can’t explain as a child, Melanie Rose is left with the ability to see ghosts and it haunts her everyday life.
It only gets worse the night before her eighteenth birthday. Things that shouldn't be real, start appearing before her.
The evil that attacked her as a child is back to finally take her life.
Then he appears, a stranger wearing a black leather jacket.
All the unanswered questions she’s had, start to unfold around her.
She soon realizes it’s only the beginning.
Melanie must control her fear before Fear claims her.

Don't get me wrong - I read many of the books and enjoy the film and TV spinoffs. I even spent an entire day saying nothing but Hodor once.
No, what I mean is, I am a virgin author.
Somehow, wholly unintentionally, my violent, fast-paced thriller has evolved into a Grimdark style novel.
I was unaware of this until I was fortunate enough to receive a review from a Blogger who was very honest, generous and insightful. Apparently ~I could not see the wood for the (talking) trees.

Hi! My name is Carrie Rachelle Johnson and I have always been a great fan of fantasy. What can be better than entering a magical world and experiencing strange things through the eyes of the characters? It is no surprise then that I became a fantasy author. I am the author of the fantasy series The Glory Chronicles. The first book Journey to Glory is now available on Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com. The sequel Return to Glory will be out this summer.
Journey to Glory is about a group of travelers who see a strange star in the sky and must choose whether to follow it or not. If they follow it, they can go to Mount Glory and join the service of the mysterious Ancient One. However, the great dragon Diablo despises all that is good and fights to keep anyone from reaching the mountain. He will stop at nothing to persuade or destroy the travelers. His minions are many and may not appear to be sinister at all.
Join the travelers who dare make the Journey to Glory. Walk with them through such places as the Swamp of Sorrow, the Desert of Complaining, the Valley of Storms, and the Garden of Temptation. Will any of them reach Mount Glory? Or will they be stopped by the forces of evil? To find out, read Journey to Glory (The Glory Chronicles Volume 1)!
I would love to hear from my readers. You can contact me through Goodreads, on Facebook (The Glory Chronicles), by email carrierachellejohnson@outlook.com, or on my website https://carrierachellejohnson.wordpre....

I'm James Hockley and I love reading / writing fantasy.
Fear's Union is my first effort at an epic fantasy novel. It's the first part of a trilogy with the tagline 'Dusk is Coming' - this probably sets the tone! The story follows three friends who are ripped apart by war, and when they come together once more, there is no guarantee that they are friends any more (or even that they're on the same side!)
It's only available on Kindle at the moment, but will be free to download tomorrow (Sunday the 22nd).
I'm currently reading some Joe Abercrombie, but I've been reading a lot this year, and have reviewed a number of fantasy books on my website (including numerous indie books). I hope you find this useful.

From a young age, I’ve felt driven by an internal desire to create. With an early love for heroes with super powers, I found my childhood-self creating my own comic books. In 4th grade, I stepped through the wardrobe and never looked back, eschewing comics for journeys to wondrous lands such as Narnia and Middle Earth. In my teens, my love for epic fantasy grew to a crescendo with the Belgariad and Riftwar series both capturing my imagination, leaving me enthralled with the idea of discovering magical abilities and learning to harness them. When I finally decided to write my own epic fantasy series, it was with the desire to instill that same sense of wonder in my readers.
The Buried Symbol is the first book in The Runes of Issalia trilogy. It is a zero-to-hero story wrapped within a world where runes have inherent meaning. Citizens are marked at birth, assigning them their vocation and caste status for life. The main character(Brock) is among the 1% who receive no rune, leaving him without a place in society. When he illegally obtains a fake rune, he journeys to a school for the elite, entering under a false identity. There, he begins to uncover secrets long-hidden, including a lost magic that he learns to harness. With the reader sharing in the discovery process, the magic system is well defined and logic-based. Being a trilogy, there are underlying plot lines and conspiracies throughout, with only the tip of the proverbial iceberg becoming exposed in book one.
The Emblem Throne, Book 2 of the series, picks up right where book 1 left off. Brock and his friends return to the Academy to continue their training while secretly testing the possibilities and limits of the magic that was discovered in book 1. When Brock's fake identity is compromised, the group flees the school only to find themselves entwined within an ancient prophecy that warns of the end of humanity. Mankind's lone hope for salvation lies hidden in The Emblem Throne, the seat of a king who died centuries earlier. They set off on a quest for the throne in what becomes a twisting an harrowing adventure.
Book 3 (An Empire in Runes) is set to release in April 2017.

Jeffrey L. Kohanek

My name is Charles McGarry, and I am the proud author of Talindor's Guest.
Talindor's Guest is about an inter-dimensional traveler who arrives on a desolate planet inhabited by a dragon. The dragon imprisons him in his lair, intending to eat him, but instead they strike a deal. The traveler must tell the dragon captivating stories in exchange for his life. Each of the 13 short stories the traveler spins are taken from his many travels. The bigger mystery, the traveler himself, remains shrouded for much of the book. There is more to the traveler than the dragon knows.
The stories span dimensions and timelines, because the traveler's magic allows him to travel the thin spaces of reality as it were. Within the pages of my book you will find delights for any fan of fantasy!
Here is the blurb:
"Along the many complex currents of existence lies a bleak, desolate planet. Once densely populated, lush with vegetation, and teeming with life, it now lies barren and forsaken; evidence of years of marauding by a great and powerful dragon.
To this world an equally powerful being has arrived, traveling the currents with his magic. The Traveler soon discovers that he must entertain a very finicky dragon in exchange for his life, and only the most extraordinary stories will suffice.
He may escape, yet there is a chance his travels may have come to an end. Such is the dilemma of Talindor’s Guest. "

Hi Kavya, good for you - your first fantasy novel.
Never give up and make it happen.

It has been great seeing my words actually published and even more satisfying watching people borrow it and seeing that they liked it enough to keep reading. I started reading early and never really stopped (fortunately it has kept me away from TV which seems to be filled with way too many crappy shows). I am a West Point and army veteran. I also am a graduate of Ranger School. I think that my army experiences helped to add some realism to book, or at least I like to think so. I look forward to hearing from you and hope you like my book if you decide to take a look at it.

thanks

“I honestly can't remember when I first came up with idea of a group of friends telling each other tales in a pub, but it was that idea which gave rise to The Red Grouse Tales - The Red Grouse being the name of the pub - and as for the tales; these I wanted to be slightly fantastic whilst at the same time being vaguely plausible, modern day fairy stories if you like. A vaguely plausible fantasy story? What is this guy talking about, I hear you say? So let me put this another way, namely, a contemporary folk tale, a contemporary fairy story, a “what if?” story.
“What if” something truly fantastic happened right now in our normal everyday lives? And I don't mean really high drama, because - thankfully! - very few of us ever experience high drama. What I mean is “what if” we left our house one morning, walked up the road and on the other side of the road sitting on a bench and reading a newspaper was a real life angel - yes, a real life angel with all its supernatural powers - or an actual ghost! Would we recognise it? Hold on! Who says that an angel has to have feathery wings and a halo, or a ghost has to be semi-transparent, have its head under its arm and be covered in a bed sheet? Yes, such beings might look thus if they wanted to bring attention to themselves, but why would an angel - a being as old as creation - or a ghost - a being hopelessly trapped in space and time - and both totally untouchable by mere mortals, wish to do that? After all angels don't have human egos and certainly have no need to show off to us, and ghosts are more likely to be ashamed of their status rather than proud of it and so very unlikely to want to draw attention to themselves. So the chances are we wouldn't recognise either and wouldn't be any the wiser. But, "what if" either were there, why would this be so and thus we have the makings of a story?”
My Red Grouse Tales are a collection of novella length stories which look at good and evil, moral rights and wrongs in our contemporary world, as told by "a group of us who had met usually, though not exclusively, at "The Red Grouse Inn" on the first Thursday of every month" - hence "The Red Grouse Tales". No, the stories do not provide answers, but do seek to raise age old questions in a modern form and challenge old ideas - and hopefully are good fun to read at the same time!

It goes without saying - doesn't it? - that I hope you will try a tale - and it would be great if you would review it! - and that you enjoy the read as much as I enjoyed the writing of it.

I am a debut author of a Kindle formatted novel that is the introduction to the Dagmarth series. This series focuses on fantasy and magic taken to a galactic level with modern entertainment. The series is inspired by Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek.
The introduction novel is entitled “Dagmarth: Escape from Palmar” which begins the journey about a new prophecy that foretells a young boy who will acquire a diamond cursed with ancient powers that can help restore lasting peace among the galaxies, or rule them all.
I wrote this novel between the summers of 2014 to 2015, and edited it up to this recent June. I self-published this work on Amazon at the price of $2.99. I did select a free promotional price for Kindle Unlimited Subscribers and a free borrow for Amazon Prime members until July 11.
My current goal is receiving positive, honest reviews for my book with hope of attracting more readers beyond the three customer reviews so far as well as eventually agreeing to representation.
I welcome your interest to read and review it, blog it, and even refer it to a representative of interest.
I appreciate your time and attention to my post. I welcome your reply here or on Facebook!
