Hi Jess. Sorry for the wait! Hmmm... very little in common - so I've gone with books that you might not have thought about! Hope you can track down any of these.Following on from Tosca's query about TBRs... I highly recommend you do read The Hunger Games on your TBR list...

Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. Young adult, werewolves... I have a friend - guy in his 50s - who recommends this to teenage boys!
The Fairy Godmother by Mercedes Lackey. First in a series set in a fantasy world, and based upon fairytales.
The Serpent's Shadow by Mercedes Lackey. Set in Edwardian London - with magic. First in a series about the Elemental Masters.
Keepsake Crimes by Laura Childs. First in a series - mysteries, solved by a scrapbooking shop owner.

Amanda, your picks are perfect! I picked up You Slay Me today from the library as it will be my birthday shelf pick (Mel). I had a couple of the Body Mover series here and finally ordered the first from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. I've been wanting to read it, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. Thank you for giving me the reason to take the plunge. Besides, my wife has read the series and wants my take on things.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, Steph. I have been flat out at work (and at home) getting ready for our summer reading programme at work (for 250 kids!). So haven't been keeping up with the posts as much as I should. I loved the Hunger games and my workmates are pissed cos we just got no. 2 Catching fire in and I've got first reserve!!!! Yay!!! Hope you enjoy

Yz, After browsing thru your shelf my first thought was what have you not read. My second thought was OMG what am I going to recommend. But I think I have found a few choices for you.
1. Nightkeepers by Jessica Andersen I can tell you are a huge fan of paranormal romance. This series is a PNR based on the Mayan belief that 12/21/2012 will be the end of time. I read a review by J R Ward recommending this series and have really enjoyed the series. I like the fact that it is a PNR but there are no vamps or weres.
2. Sword of Darkness by Kinley MacGregor I saw this was on your TBR list and thought I would add it to my recommend list. This series is about the Knights of the Round Table after the fall of Camelot. I really like the mix of modern and historical in this series. And as always, Sherrilyn Kenyon/Kinley MacGregor writes the yummiest heroes.
3. Forget Me Not by Marliss Melton I noticed you are a fan of Suzanne Brockmann and so am I. This book begins a series about SEAL Team 12 by Marliss Melton. I have read and enjoyed the series and hope you do too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've decided I'm going for Jessica Andersen's book. Sounds like something up my alley, and considering that she and the Warden are writing buddies, just makes it more interesting.
I also added the Marliss Melton to my TBR shelf. I might have to pass on Kinley MacGregor. I don't know how to explain it but there is just something about Kenyon's writing that I don't like.
Karyn:I saw that you really enjoy Nora Roberts, and also paranormal novels. So I picked out these two books. Since you enjoyed twilight I thought you may like...
1. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray --it's a bit of a fantasy with of course the school gossipyness but not to the extreme of gossip girl. They are trying to build up "The Order" which had in the past been apart of the boarding school experience. It also has that mystery twist going on---not sure if you'll be into it. It can be a love-it, or hate-it sorta thing.
2. Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler--I have honestly not read this. But, it seems like a captivating story. It looks like it may be a little scary (horror) so I am not sure if you'll be much into it. It takes a different look on vampires than what is usual, she is trying to find out who wants to destroy her and also there's some other details that go along with it.
If neither of these seem up your alley let me know and I will be happy to find some other novels. Happy Reading!

No problem, Kasia!Cathy - I have been giving a selection for you some thought just in case, and i think i can still recommend Saffron Skies by Lesley Lokko. I think you'll like that one since you seem to really enjoy a book with a "meaty" plot.
I have a few others alternatives. While i have yet to read some of them, i took what you prefer to read in consideration instead. They do come highly recommended by some of my GR friends who enjoy the same books you do though.

3. The Secret by Julie Garwood
4. The Irish Devil by Diane Whiteside
5. Squeeze Play by Kate Angell

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I really wanted to try Saffron Skies but was unable to find it at my local library or used paperback store. But I was able to get both Squeeze Play and The Irish Devil at the library. I am going to try both of these this month.

Oh too bad, i hope you're able to find it later on and give it a try. It was such a good book. If i wasn't so attached to my used copy i would send it to you through the swapping system here...LOL...but i never know when i can just go back and do another re-read. I don't even touch my hardback copy, that should tell you how much i love it.
You'll enjoy Squeeze Play for sure, the whole series is quite good actually.

Truly, truly awesome experience LOL Ok, assuming I read your shelves right, I decided to go for urban fantasy with storylines that had strong male protagonists that you hadn't read and, interestingly enough, you had earmarked a few as TBR. Have also included 2 possible anthologies as backup (1 a mix of female/male writers and the other female writers only). If none of this is what you're looking for feel free to EWW and I'll choose again heh:1. Nightlife by Rob Thurman which is book 1 in the Cal Leandros series
2. Fool Moon by Jim Butcher which is book 2 in the Dresden Files
3. Street Magic by Caitlin Kittredge which is book 1 in the Black London series
4. Must Love Hellhounds anthology by Ilona Andrews
5. Strange Brew anthology as edited by P.N. Elrod

Storm Front is book 1 and Fool Moon is book 2 - not sure what I was thinking when I did that. I LOVE Harry Dresden as the hero in the books and in the tv series. Def go for that one :)
Just came back from Library not long ago and picked up a whole bunch of books for this month. One of which is Trick of the Light by Rob Thurman about demons, angels and an apocalyptic throwdown. Can't wait to start it!

I'd like to start it sometime this Sunday or Monday. I'm finishing up a few books that either revolve around ghosts, demons, or vampires and NEED to follow with something light and humorous, lol!

The romance/erotica ralation is similar, and humor is ever present.

I got caught up at work this week and was planning on getting my challenge book today, Storm Front by Jim Butcher. Does anyone know if it has one of those endings where I should have book 2 readily available?
Hey Michelle,Good question. Am trying to remember and I don't believe that it has a cliffhanger ending. Usually the end of one book is the end of a case but it's been a couple of months since I last re-read Storm Front.
Michelle, Storm Front ends, no cliffhanger, you don't need the second one handy.
Hi Kasia - I went with Soulless.I think the tongue-in-cheek style was just what I needed. And there's nothing wrong with vampires, werewolves AND steampunk. All that goodness in one book.

Amanda, since I had already picked up You Slay Me to read for my birthday shelf, I went with Body Movers. I liked the characters, I liked the story, and I felt myself drawn in not wanting to wait to find out what happens next. Thank you. Great choice! I've picked up the next three in the series. I'll give them a go when I have a chance.
