Wow! You've been busy! Do you have a favorite among these? I know I've read Darcy Coates before, and I read The House Next Door. The Haunting of Henderson Close looks fun!

Actually Deb, almost all of those are favorites! 😁

I will try to give a small run down on a few of them for you.

The Haunting of Henderson Close which you mentioned was great. I have read quite a few books by author, Catherine Cavendish and she normally writes gothic ghost/haunting stories.
My first book by her was this one:

Linden Manor - this book is what started my tracking down of everything she has out there. lol

Kill Creek by author, Scott Thomas was also a great read. Kind of a slow burn haunting, but has tons of haunting atmosphere throughout the story. Also was loaded with suspense and mystery.

Perron Manor by Lee Mountford is actually part of a series of books. The actual first book of the series is a short novella which is this one:

Inside Perron Manor: Investigating Britain's Most Haunted House. The book sets up the actual series and is almost like a prelude to the the rest of the books. I read the book before stepping into the series. The series of books including this one are at five books, however, the series is still a work in progress as the author is still writing more books.

Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand was a spooky haunting and was very atmospheric. First time reading this author and the book was a slow burn as well as the author did quite a bit of character set up before the book actually took off into the haunted zone! lol

The Haunted House from Hell by Mark L'Estrange was a one spooky and scary ride! I just finished that book a couple of weeks ago and it actually gave me bad dreams which is rare for me as I read so much horror that I feel that I have become immune to that genre.

So those are the breakdown on some of those reads for you, Deb. :)

Deb Atwood | 442 comments Thank you, Marie! That was quite a run-down. I do like the slow burn approach, so Kill Creek may be a good one of these to start with. The description sounds intriguing!

Alexis (alexis_avvi) | 1 comments Marie, I just added Linden Manor to my tbr shelf. I read the sample pages and can hardly wait to settle into that spooky gothic atmosphere. And I haven’t read anything with the word Scottish in a while. You really sold this one in your review.

Sidhe Prankster (sidheprankster) | 2 comments Personally, I have a soft spot for classic ghost stories by authors like M.R. James, E. Nesbitt, M. Croker, Eliott O'Donnell, Amelia Edwards, and the like. However, the very best ghost story I know is not one I read but one I was told by my parents, who swore it was true. It concerned the old house they lived in as newlyweds that stood until recently on White Avenue near the University of Tennessee. In my college years, I researched it and found that all of the historical particulars they provided were true, which lent credence to the tale.
