Gina (ginrobi) | 84 comments 1. On average, what genre do you read most?
Paranormal Romance, Fantasy/Urban Fantasy, Romantic Suspense, Thriller, Mystery, Horror, Sci-fi, Erotica Romance, Historical Romance, Chick-lit... in this order.

2. What is your favorite genre?
Paranormal anything, LOL! Give me vamps, weres, you name it!

3. What is your least favorite genre?
I'll read Sci-fi, but it has to be realistic, otherwise I lose interest. Chick-lit is one that I'll read on occasion - I need to be in the mood for it.

4. What genre is your guilty pleasure?
Erotica Romance! If the author writes with a smoothness, and especially if there's a story line to it, not just the sex... They can make for some really, really, really hot and awesome stories!

This could be very true indeed! lol :) Once I read this book called Make Up, Don't Break Up Finding and Keeping Love for Singles and Couples, while I was in a difficult relationship with this guy I really loved (we were living together)... well, the book kept saying that you have to BREAK UP in order to MAKE UP (take a temporary break). I was so dang confused the whole time I was reading that book, I didn't know what to do. We ended up breaking up for good though, lol. :P

message 59: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments The best self-help book I ever read was called All I Need to Know I Learned from My Cat. After that, I figured I didn't need to read another one (and my cat indicated that SHE would make sure that I didn't need one, by doing everything in the book and PROVING that that's all you really need.) lol, cats--gotta love their snarky attitude.

Rayni | 135 comments I just added All I Need to Know I Learned from My Cat to my TBR list, pffft, I just barely printed out a 4 page list & then added another one to it. I LOVE cats though. We have 4 house cats. They spend their day on my bed.

message 81: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments ONLY on your bed Rayni? lol, to tell you how "owned" I am--untold eons ago when we turned our 2 car garaged into a family room---I had 10"wide boards put up for ledges so that my beloved little fur babies could sit up in the window any time of the year they wanted to so that the rest of the world could enjoy their beauty. :o) The only complaint they had--that we didn't go back and retrofit the REST of the house with the same ledges. Limiting them to only 2 windows (east and north facing) was just being too cruel to the rest of the world.

message 82: by TeresaFL (new)

TeresaFL | 24 comments 1. On average, what genre do you read most?
I think it's fairly even between romance, historical fiction and mystery. Bonus if the they can all be combined in one book!

2. What is your favorite genre?
Just one? Historical Fiction/Romance, but mystery is such a close 2nd.

3. What is your least favorite genre?
Not a huge fan of sci-fi, but I have read some. Self-help and I don't really get along either.

4. What genre is your guilty pleasure?
Is "trashy novel" at real genre? If not it should be. Not sure I can classify Romance as a guilty pleasure since I readily admit I read them. It's brain candy and some days I need LOTS of brain candy!

message 83: by Kristin (new)

2. What is your favorite genre? I'd have to stay the mystery/thriller/suspense type
3. What is your least favorite genre? not to copy, but I think I'd have to say the self-help!
4. What genre is your guilty pleasure? hmm...I guess I would have to say it would be books for young adult. My students know I love to read and are constantly recommending books to me. They serve as great fillers between series!

Thanks, Ann - my daughter loves cats even more than I do, so I just ordered that for her for Christmas.

message 85: by BJ Rose (last edited Nov 17, 2009 12:46PM) (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 93 comments 1. On average, what genre do you read most?
That would be romance in general in most of its formats - historical, romantic-suspense, contemporary, cozy-mystery, PNR, etc. (but not erotica or chicklit

2. What is your favorite genre?
Historical Romance

3. What is your least favorite genre?
Erotica & Chick-lit. And I'm very selective in any horror books I read.

4. What genre is your guilty pleasure?
OK, I need a clarification on this question! If it means, what do I feel guilty about reading, then the answer is 'I don't have one" - I don't hide bookcovers when I'm reading in public, and if I get strange looks about my choice of reading material, I don't see it because my face is buried in my book!

If, however, it means 'do I read what other people think I should feel guilty about reading', it could include paranormal, fantasy, young-adult, and I suppose any form of romance. I have some friends who think I'm crazy to 'waste' my time reading factual history books!

LOL ... Ann, I readily admit the cats own the house. We even built a cat door into the wall in the laundry room so they could come & go as they please. They really don't like it. They want to come in & out of the human doors.

too cute!!

message 91: by Donna (new)

Donna (donnasmith) | 124 comments Although I will read anything in a pinch, I prefer fantasy. Sci fi is a close second. Then i go to mysteries and general fiction. I like historical romances but will read any if they have a good plot. My least favorite is biographies but I can get into those if it's about someone who interests me.
I have no genre that is a guilty pleasure. I feel reading is my contribution to life. If I don't read I'm tense and irritable and nobody wants that.. (feed me a book or chocolate)

Divergent_Librocubicularist 1. On average, what genre do you read most?
this year... it's all about the vampire, and I imagine next year will be more of the same judging by my TBR shelf! but that still sort of fits into my most read genre of suspense/thriller. I rarely read anything else.

2. What is your favorite genre?
see above ;)

3. What is your least favorite genre?
that's a tough one, as I'm kind of in a box with what I read already so I might say everything BUT suspense/thriller. But I can read just about anything if I'm in the right mood.

4. What genre is your guilty pleasure?
paranormal romance maybe?? though these days I'd say taking the time to read anything at all is my guilty pleasure. ;)

I LOVE Joy Fielding. Just discovered her about 6 months ago, but have read quite a few of them. I just started Missing Pieces last night. FOr some reason it just hasn't grabbed my attention like every other one of her's that I have read. Did you like it? As good as most of her books? Just trying to figure out if maybe it is the book, or maybe it is just that I have been reading so much of her's in a short time span. Thanks!

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments (Giggling) You know, I was thinking about what could possibly count as a "guilty pleasure" and remembered a book I found a long time ago. I didn't know anything about the author, didn't even bother reading the back cover. I bought it because I LOVED the title. It was Bimbos of the Death Sun with THIS cover Bimbos of the Death Sun (Windwalker Book) by Sharyn McCrumb . You have to admit--it IS eye catching. :o)

She later wrote Zombies of the Gene Pool by Sharyn McCrumb as a companion piece. Despite the titles, they are NOT scifi or fantasy--they are mysteries.

Zombies of the Gene Pool
