Salman, it's the first book of the series, "The Grisha". I think we should prefer a single book. I searched for some popular paranormal stand alone books and there the book with the highest rating (3.92) is, "The Darkest Part of the Forest".
And to be honest after reading reviews of this book, I'm not sure about this read.
