⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Ezi, if you don't mind me re-picking again for another member of the group, I pick the Laurel Heights series by Kate Perry for LaurLa. That's another one I'd love to hear her thoughts on, as it is on my own TBR.

LaurLa, I'm sorry this month has been not so fun for you and I hope you'll keep playing this with us next month!

Great minds think alike cause that's what I would have picked for her too!!!!

Happy Reading everyone!

LaurLa,
I am really sorry. I will need to figure out how to improve the challenge, because believe it or not, I used to keep a list of the people who didn't make their picks on time, and it was usually the same offenders.

But I've been avoiding being the bad guy and asking them not to sign up. But I don't want them ruining the enjoyment of others so I will need to address this issue next month.

Ezi, don't beat yourself up over this. You've had a lot happen this month, and it is perfectly reasonable to have a few things be not quite up to snuff. I think those of us who are regulars to the challenge can more than pick up the slack when you need Real Life time. If there is anything I can do to help for next month or even into July, don't hesitate to ask! I love to help out!

I agree with what Trea said... don't worry overmuch about it. Stuff happens in RL and suddenly books/challenges lose a bit of priority. I was just being a cry-baby :-D I totally get that things don't always go the way we expect and whether we're choosing for someone else or trying to monitor the whole process, things are apt to go a bit sideways. I admire and respect all the hard work the mods put into challenges and would never blame them for their own or other's RL happenings.

Work and life made this month challenging. I appreciate your graciousness though.

Marla | 1036 comments Ezi, you do a great job and since it's all for fun, I think rather than be a bad guy, just let others re-pick for them. I don't ever really care who picks for me, I just don't like no one picking for me.

It is strange that they get their books up and then don't pick. When I mess up, I forget to post my books. But since the picking is just a few days later, I am already in that frame of mind.

I am an offender this month. I apologize. Things got hectic at work and I just completely forgot to come back and pick. I hope I may go ahead and read my picks for this month and try again next month (when I would put all the deadlines on my calendar to keep myself honest). My apologies to you, Ezi and to my assigned pickee, Delitealex, for messing up.

@LaurLa and Ezi
I apologize for the lapse. I actually did make the pick just but I was half asleep when I did them. I actually picked from Anita's list instead which was below it thinking it was Laurla's. Because I got my picks and thought I did my picks I never checked back. We had a death in the family and things have been hectic at work.I'm so very sorry.

Something must be wrong with my settings. I used to get emails when people reply and everything is check marked to email me. But I have not had a single update email in months.

Joyce - everything worked out, so don't worry over it. I figured something happened that kept you from coming back to the thread. As I said, RL gets in the way and I'm sorry that it was a sad RL situation for you this time. I've seen several people talk about the email notification problem. I wonder if settings somehow got changed for people. Well, I hope June goes better for you. Happy Reading!

I am so sorry for your loss. Dealing with the personal loss is hard enough without having the echo of the same thing happening in what you are reading. For me, reading has always been a means of escape, and as such, I fully understand your situation. I am sure that when you are at a different point in the grieving process, you will be able to come back to these and enjoy them again.

Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews

I enjoyed book 3 more than 2. Curran is awesome!

I don't know if I'll manage to read one more yet, as I have some books I have to read first. I do look forward to try to read the book and not listen to the audio. There's something about the narrator that bugs me. Which is strange - because I've heard so many saying nice things about her.

This is a good Christian Fiction series and book #5 is due out next month which I will read soon. The book When I Fall in Love (Christiansen Family, #3) by Susan May Warren really hit home with me and I gave it *****.

Picked for — *Rachael*
Picked by — *Rachael*

Well I am current on the novels, but couldn't get the novella finished in time! Still happy I'm pretty much caught up! :)

Eternal Guardians
Enslaved — ★★★★ 6/10
While I liked Gryphon's story, it seemed to drag some. Also, Maelea seemed a bit whiny to me. I did enjoy the teaser of Titus meeting his intended and the continuing struggles Max is having adjusting to life with his parents...though Zander and Callia are extremely stifling! I will say though...the last few chapters of the book were a solid 5 stars!

Bound — ★★★★ 6/15
Titus has been on the fringes of this series so far, so I really liked having the chance to get to know him better! Natasa's story turned out to be very cool also! These books are so much fun because they take well-known mythology and mix it with some super hot couples! The only reason I couldn't push this book to five stars is because the ending just seemed flat. Overall however, another great story to add to this awesome series!

Twisted — ★★★★ 6/19
I really feel like this is more of a 3.5-star book, but I love the series so much I rounded up. I can't pinpoint what didn't work for me. I wasn't feeling it for Nick or Cynna. I also wasn't liking the connection Nick and Isadora had going on. There were a few scenes toward the end I really liked...and although he wasn't in this book much, Orpheus stole the show for me whenever he was on the pages!

Enslaved (Eternal Guardians, #5) by Elisabeth Naughton Bound (Eternal Guardians, #6) by Elisabeth Naughton Twisted (Eternal Guardians, #7) by Elisabeth Naughton

I liked the plot well enough, but I have a lot of issues with the world-building. I'm interested enough to keep reading, but I'm not super impressed, there are better YA dystopias out there.
