welcome Paul!! nice to have you here!! well read and a writer!!
I haven't formally introduced myself, I'm Gary Ponzo, author of the award-winning novel, "A Touch of Deceit." The political thriller is the first in a series where FBI agent Nick Bracco recruits his mafia cousin to track down terrorists. I'm on the verge of making the series an Amazon Kindle exclusive.Because of the frantic desire to churn these books out I don't read as much as I'd like. I've recently finished Brad Meltzer's, "The Book of Fate," and posted my review on Goodreads. Next up is the Stieg Larsson series. See I told you I was behind in my reading.
It's nice to be part of a group of avid readers.
Gary
The invitation came out of the blue, but I appreciate it. I'm already in several other discussions groups here and on other sites, but will try to take part when I can.I'm Steve and work as a Librarian for a public library in Southern California. Originally from Connecticut, moved while in grad school to Brooklyn, NY where I met Donna, to whom I am now married.
I read just about anything that catches my eye, both fiction & non-fiction. A habit I picked up from my mother, as my father thought fiction a waste of time, both of them loved to read.

Hi there! Thanks to Rick for the invite to this group.Things look pretty active here, I must say :) Glad to be aboard.
Im Lyn from down under! Ever since I got my kindle, favorite new found past time is reading, it keeps me occupied on public transport adventures and puts me to sleep with a head full of imagination, leaving me unwilling to wake up at times.
I enjoy romances, humor and fantasy genres the most and is currently hooked on The Immortal Nicolas Flamme's series.

Hi everyone :) I'm Kristina, thank you so much for the invite. i'm new to reading (only been doing it seriously for a year or so.) I therefore have a lot of catching up to do.
Can't wait to discuss books with you.
G'day from Australia! Rick, I'm here... thank you very much for your invite. I'm happy to join up with another group here on Goodreads; I've been meaning to get more involved on here and so I am.I'm an Aussie and have loved reading since I was very young. Seeing I've had a big problem with number and maths - and yet was better at English and spelling than anything else - it seemed that reading and books were going to be in my life at some point or another.
Currently, I own around 600 books and am trying to find more space for more books... yeah, it's a problems, but it's a matter of reading all the books before I leave this planet; and that's all that matters. I'm on Bookcrossing, Goodread and Librarything as well as having my own book review blog on blogger ( http://continuousreader.blogspot.com/ ); check it out, it's a relatively young blog, but it's going well. I review books that nobody else is reading right now; waiting until they fall from the popular listings and then I read them. So, I'm the person who watches what people are buying at the book store checkout to see what they are reading and then I review books they aren't to encourage them to read something outside their comfort zone.
I also write books; however I'm not yet published. I find the whole procedure too stressful and it's something that makes me not write. So, I've blogged my work thus far. There's two blogs. One's called 'Fry Nelson' and the other 'You Can't Go Back: And Other Impossibilities'. The former is a sci-fi action thriller where you must start at the first story of book one; and the latter is a collection of unusual stories that pop into my head from time to time that I have written down... pretty fun stuff... and a lot of them are good, gross, blood'n'guts vampire stories full of violence; just like they're supposed to be. :)
So, that's me. I enjoy reading books and writing them and writing about them. I hope I fit the criteria of this group. :D Thanks again, Rick for inviting me. I look forward to reading more about this group.

Not off hand... but I had to google him when you mentioned him. There's a lot of Aussie actors who we haven't heard of but they're quite famous outside of Australia. A bit sad really.Writers a like that too when they're from here; they don't make it big until they leave Australia.

John Meillon (1 May 1934 – 11 August 1989) was an Australian actor, most widely known outside Australia for his role as Walter Reilly in the films Crocodile Dundee and Crocodile Dundee II. He also voiced Victoria Bitter beer commercials until his death.[1]
Meillon was born in Mosman, Sydney. He began his acting career at the age of eleven in the ABC's radio serial "Stumpy", and made his first stage appearance the following year. He joined the Shakespeare Touring Company when he was sixteen. Like many actors of his generation from 1959 to 1965 he worked in England.
He had a recurring role in the TV series My Name's McGooley, What's Yours?. He featured in two episodes of "Skippy" in 1968 and 1969 appearing as "Nimble Norris". In 1976 he won the AFI Award for Best Actor for his role of 'Casey' in the film The Fourth Wish (1976).
With his rich baritone, Meillon was used extensively in voice over work- the most famous being his work as the "you can get it any old how" Victoria Bitter narrator.[2]
He married June Salter in 1958. They were divorced in 1971. They had one son, John Meillon, Jr. He then married Rita Gibson on 5 April 1972: they also had a son.

Thanks for the invite! I'm Froukje, I'm 24 years old and addicted to vampire/supernatural related books since my mom bought me the first book of Twilight on sale in a supermarket. Since then I found out that so many truly amazing books weren't translated in dutch, so I started buying books via amazon in English. With many thanks to goodreads I find new books to read and to buy everyday, only my bank account doesn't like that so much ;)I hope that people will understand my english writing cause that's not my strongest point ;)

Thank you Rick for the invite. I am an avid reader and my interests vary. I will say I love Jane Austen, Cassandra Clare, J.R. Ward and Chole Niell just to name a few. I read alot of YA because I help at my childrens school library and I want to be able to keep in touch with what they are reading. YA has most of my time right now but I do try to get in an adult read a couple times a month. One thing I tell my friends is that reading keeps you sane and able to deal with every day life.

I think Marialyce can back me up, I spent a large part of the summer getting ready for the next school year. Planning new lessons, updating my website, etc. But, yes, I've taught with teachers who used the same things and said the things over and over for decades.
Hi! I'm Maeghan and I've been a Goodreads member for a few years now. I am an avid reader, have been since I was 5. I actually got in trouble in kindergarten for reading too much! I guess my teachers felt I needed more social interaction with my fellow students.I've been keeping a list of books I've read since about 1996 or so; it's so interesting to see how my tastes have changed (or stayed the same in many cases). I'm definitely a fiction fan, and will read almost anything under that umbrella, but I do stray to non-fiction every so often. Some of my recent favorite authors include Stephen King, Charles Dickens, Charlaine Harris, and Anne Perry.
I'm looking forward to joining some interesting discussions!

So who am I? Old guy, scientist, computer guy, author. My (so far only) book is called "The Wrong God" available in e-reader format(s) at www.smashwords.com/books/view/21978. It's free until the end of the month with coupon code UR45Y. Or you can get it at my website www.thewronggod.com - same price.
I am one of these newfangled indie authors people write about on blogs. That means I have a book (well, a story) but no agent, publisher, etc. So how do I find my readers? This is one way.
So let's trade. Check out my book, if it seems to your taste, and maybe write a review. Tell me what you want from me.
Paul
