Caitlin | 2 comments Alright, I read this book about seven years ago and I've basically been searching for it ever sense. It was a library book, already old I think but I have no idea about the exact publication or remember anything about the title or author's name.

I do however remember a lot about the books content.

The main character was a young orphan girl who lived with a bunch of other orphans in an orphanage. The fantastical part of this world compared to other's is that people could fly, peter pan style without wings or any real explanation for locomotion at all. Either all or most of the orphans, including the girl, could not fly, however.

The culture also worshiped birds, or at least revered them, and hated cats.

The girl goes on an adventure with a boy who also cannot fly to stop some evil doer who I believe is in a place of power like a mayor or something. There is also a cat involved.

I could go on in detail over a few scenes but I wouldn't want to violate the spoiler rules.

The copy I read was a hard back with a cat on the front.

Any thoughts?

Kelly Reid | 4 comments Hi, could it be the Maximum ride series by James Patterson? The first book is called Maximum ride: The angel experiment.

Kristina | 137 comments It sounds like The Wall and the Wing. It's a weird book but definitely fits that description.
