What it means to bookworms: Power-reading to your heart’s content.

2. Movie
What it usually means: 90 minutes to sit in the dark and eat popcorn while being entertained by a film.

What it means to bookworms: An enraging 90 minutes of scoffing at a (most likely) inaccurate version of a written masterpiece.

3. Library
What it usually means: A somewhat boring place filled with books. Great for taking quiet naps.

What it means to bookworms: THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH.

4. Commute
What it usually means: A long, dreadful journey to and from work on public transportation.

What it means to bookworms: A not-long-enough chance to immerse yourself in the pages of faraway lands.

6. Garage Sale
What it usually means: A place where people sell their unwanted old things.

What it means to bookworms: A treasure trove of awesome books on sale for $1!

7. Dating
What it usually means: Getting to know a potential mate.

What it means to bookworms: Getting to know a potential mate, knowing all along that he’ll never be as good as your book boyfriend/girlfriend.

8. Work
What it usually means: A boring desk job.

What it means to bookworms: A boring desk job made much more exciting by taking secret reading breaks via the book in your lap.

9. Lunch
What it usually means: An hour break in the middle of the weekday to eat a sad desk salad.

What it means to bookworms: An hour break in the middle of the weekday when you forgo food to try to crush as many chapters as possible.

10. Multi-tasking
What it usually means: The ability to do two things at the same time.

What it means to bookworms: The ability to read while doing something else at the same time. This includes, but is not limited to, cooking, eating, working out, watching TV and walking the dog.

11. Budget
What it usually means: Imposing a strict spending limit on any items that aren’t considered essential.

What it means to bookworms: Skimping on rent, groceries, and other “necessities” so you have cash to buy that new bestseller.

12. Best Friend
What it usually means: A person who loves you, supports you, laughs with you, cries with you, and is always by your side.

What it means to bookworms: Quite simply, a book

well yeah, I read while I walk too, it´s not just a transport, and the journey is always too short.

Takk, Joseph.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Another fun list :)

1. Night-in
What it usually means: Sipping a glass bottle of wine and binge-watching Netflix.

What it means to bookworms: Power-reading to your heart’s content.

It's funny but I binge-watched Netflix last night, with a cheap glass of wine I was trying, and read in between a loading game of Sims 3. So actually I do binge-watch Netflix, but I'm definitely a bookworm too. So it just depends on my mood what night in means.

2. Movie
What it usually means: 90 minutes to sit in the dark and eat popcorn while being entertained by a film.

What it means to bookworms: An enraging 90 minutes of scoffing at a (most likely) inaccurate version of a written masterpiece.

I'm more of a TV show gal but I agree with you - I like some movies, but if they're made off a book and I've read it first, I'm more critical

3. Library
What it usually means: A somewhat boring place filled with books. Great for taking quiet naps.

What it means to bookworms: THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH.

I don't check books out from the library but do love them

4. Commute
What it usually means: A long, dreadful journey to and from work on public transportation.

What it means to bookworms: A not-long-enough chance to immerse yourself in the pages of faraway lands.

I drive to work so no reading/driving possible for me :(

5. Sleep
What it usually means: 6-8 hours spent each night lying down with your eyes closed, resting your brain.

What it means to bookworms: 1-3 hours of resting time in between books… only because you can no longer keep your eyes open.

I've sadly had to stop reading late at night because of this - but this means more rest to read the next day :)

6. Garage Sale
What it usually means: A place where people sell their unwanted old things.

What it means to bookworms: A treasure trove of awesome books on sale for $1!

YES!!! I always look for books first thing

7. Dating
What it usually means: Getting to know a potential mate.

What it means to bookworms: Getting to know a potential mate, knowing all along that he’ll never be as good as your book boyfriend/girlfriend.

They would never live up...

8. Work
What it usually means: A boring desk job.

What it means to bookworms: A boring desk job made much more exciting by taking secret reading breaks via the book in your lap.

Definitely

9. Lunch
What it usually means: An hour break in the middle of the weekday to eat a sad desk salad.

What it means to bookworms: An hour break in the middle of the weekday when you forgo food to try to crush as many chapters as possible.

Yes- but I still eat food at the same time.

10. Multi-tasking
What it usually means: The ability to do two things at the same time.

What it means to bookworms: The ability to read while doing something else at the same time. This includes, but is not limited to, cooking, eating, working out, watching TV and walking the dog.

Agreed

I used to feel this way then I thought about what adaptation means. This was brought home to me with the discussion around the movie version of Watchmen. It was a faithful adaptation, but artistically what made Watchmen special was something that could only occur in a comic. (The way the panels were drawn, the symmetry across 12 issues, etc)

Similarly, a book that's very first person heavy will always suffer because we can't see in their heads in movies. Voice overs just aren't quite the same. I found Katniss to be an indecisive and reluctant hero in the book. In the movie she comes across as way more heroic because we can't "see/hear" her going back and forth over every decision in her head.

So I just enjoy each on its own merits. Or, in the case of comic book movies, I just don't watch them. Comic books serve slightly different masters than the movies they spawn.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Eric,

I actually am planning to read Watchmen next as my next 'superhero themed' read and have it on the currently reading list. I've seen the movie several times and really enjoyed it - not so much the extended version as that keeps interrupting with the strange side video.

So you haven't watched Watchmen?

I've actually seen that movie. So the strange video interruption is actually super true to the comic, as you'll see.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Thanks Eric, I should be starting it soon.
