SOLVED. YA Fantasy. Monster talking to some entity and he tries to free it, becomes introduced to vampires. Read 2000-2015 i believe. Spoilers.

i don't remember a lot about the plot i remember there being a weird dish at a pot luck of the vampires something similar to mac and cheese but the guy narrating thought it looked wrong

at the end of the book he became trapped in the void of space that the guy he was talking to was trapped in

FIGURED IT OUT...been trying to realize for years and couldn't find it, just happened to (wrongly) think the cover was red and then stumbled on a post where some else said it was red and they were discussing the same book!
