I think the title had the words Hangman's Hill in it. The cover is the cliché of a gothic looking building on a hill with a twisted path leading up to it. One feature that stand out is there is a noose hanging from the building.

The plot is about race against time where a boy tries to stop the bad guys from destroying the world. There a time wrap/travel twist.

I read this back between 2011-2013.

As I recall the author's last name either start with a B or a C.
