Hailey | 3 comments Girl befriends a washed-up actress and becomes her assistant using a ploy of picking up her “dropped bracelet” while in the park in LA. She’s suspicious that the actress and her ex-husband killed her mom and made it look like a car crash. Then she finds out that the actress was actually her mom's lesbian lover. In the past, the mom had found her stripper friend's lucky rabbit foot and realized that the ex-husband was drugging girls he was sleeping with so he could have sex with them when they were passed out. In a parallel plot line, current day, on a movie set on a tropical island, the ex-husband actor and washed-up actress are starring in a movie together. A young woman director (a different woman) has been blacklisted in the business, but gets this role for a movie that no one wants because her dad has a lot of say in the industry. The young woman director on set gets raped by the ex-husband actor after he drugged her, and she finds out she's pregnant, so there is proof that he assaulted her. There is a huge storm towards the end of the book where everything comes to fruition. I remember more specific details, but I can’t remember the title or author!

Hailey | 3 comments I read this book in 2022, it was a quick beach read, and I really enjoyed it! The author also has other books of this genre, adult mysteries. There is another book where a girl invites a bunch of her friends on her new rich boyfriend's yacht for a vacation and things go awry.
