♡»» Are They/Them Pronouns Grammatically Correct to Use For One Person?

because society has decided that every year you become one year older. if you feel internally 80, i suppose then you are just a mature person. im sure that younger people out there feel older than they are due to their maturity levels, but that does not change their age bc age is something that changes by counting how many years you have been alive

yes, i also wondered this

Ok? As I said you can ‘think’ whatever but that doesn’t make you that thing. A boy can think he is a girl but he’s not actually a girl. Sure in his mind he is but biologically he’s not. Why would I call a boy she her when biologically he’s still a boy? It has nothing to do with respect, it has to do with science and biology. If a person is biologically a boy then I will use male pronouns when referring to him.

Ok you guys are taking my words out of proportion. Never meant to say anything about stereotypes. I said a person can say they are Chinese but that doesn’t mean they are. I don’t know where you guys got stereotypes and racism from? Sorry didnt mean to offend anybody.

I feel like a broken record here, but you're not answering my questions. What about intersex???

It literally has everything to do with respect. How did you manage to convince yourself it doesnt
@nimbu I already answered that a little bit ago. I can repost it if you don’t find it, just lemme know

this ^
@logan because I’m not trying to be disrespectful. Yes someone can identify as a different gender but pronouns don’t correlate with gender they correlate with sex. I’m just speaking from a scientific/biological standpoint. A male is referred to with male pronouns, a female is referred to with female pronouns. When I don’t use preferred pronouns I’m not trying to be disrespectful.

Why does it matter what they were born as, that determines their sex not their gender. Why cant you have a different gender from your sex?

That doesnt stop it from being disrespectful. And science has next to nothing to do with pronouns given that they are a social construct
@logan if you went up to me and just started ridiculing me to my face, yes I would kinda be sad but it’s called free speech you can do whatever you want as long as it’s in a public space. And I’m not here ridiculing you. It’s common sense, male pronouns go with the male sex, female pronouns go with the female sex.

actually pronouns correlate with gender, not sex. i believe that doctors when talking about a patient respect and use that patients pronouns and gender even if its not their sex.

Hey everyone, just a quick reminder to be respectful! This isn't directed at anyone just making sure things don't get out of hand :)

@logan pronouns are not a construct, gender is. But pronouns do not correlate with gender, they correlate with sex

I've heard that nonbinary fits under the trans umbrella since you're identifying differently than the sex you were born with, but I'm not sure.

Pronouns cant exist without gender so yes they are a social construct

so you agree that sex and gender are not equal?

I know her very well I was just joking

Regardless, biological sex has nothing to do with gender. Your sex is just some physical characteristics you have (which can be changed through hormonal therapy/surgery). Gender is your IDENTITY; it's who you are. The two are very different.

Yes, being transgender refers to any individual who does not correlate with their sex they were assigned at birth, which includes non-binary and gender fluid people. And I agree; this debate has definitely gone off topic.

Yeah exactly

alright. tbh i dont have a source. the only thing that defines my beliefs around gender and pronouns is health class, advisory/counseling class, and my overall community and how people talk about gender. i know that my beliefs around gender might not be correct, but in every situation ive ever been in people ask me "whats your pronouns?". If pronouns were just sex they would look at me and be like "ok long hair feminine face shes got boobs must be a she/her." Pronouns relates to gender in every social situation ive been in and also in all the classes ive taken in school.

yes you did, you agreed that gender is a social construct, now unless you're saying that sex is a social construct, i do believe that you said they're two different things

Regardless, biological sex has nothing to do with gender. Your sex is just so..."
I’m going to have to disagree with part of that. Sex can not be changed (with our current technology, I’m sure that will change in a decade or two) as it reflects what chromosomes someone has. Intersex is a gray area and refers to anything that falls outside the biological norm with chromosomes (as well as physical features but I’m just referring to chromosomes.
