SOLVED. YA Fantasy - A witch, a "unicorn", an elf (?)...they all live in a tree, and the magic is dying. Read around 1989.

Read this book as a kid and can NOT recall the title. I must have read it in 1989 or so? It's a fantasy world, with a little girl witch who lives in a tree, and she takes care of or finds a "unicorn" - this is a "real" unicorn which is not the fantasy/beautiful version we are used to. There are also a couple of other characters, and the main plot is that the magic is dying or leaving the land and they are trying to bring it back...

Unfortunately, no....I felt like the title might be "Nod's Forest" but that seems to be another book. Might be something like that though?? Some nonsense word and "forest" or "woods"...
