This was a great book. It isn't part of a series as listed on GR, but it definitely connects with Home and Away with this being the cousin of one of those characters. I really loved Travis and Barnaby. They were both thinking they didn't want a relationship, but luckily they didn't avoid it and shy away from it when they realized things were a bit more than they expected. The poetry was pretty awesome, and I loved how Barnaby and Travis interacted with it. Great story, and now I really want one for Jack and Grady.

Fine with me! :) No worries about the reading. I think we're doing fine overall.

Just a heads up, I am heading out to Colorado in a couple of hours. Yay! It should be a fun few days. I will be back Sunday, so I will check in and post then (unless I get some downtime). Have a good few days!

Just make sure you so a selection post for the pass :)

Week 7, Option 1

Date read: 6/5/25
Rating: 4★
Review: This has been on my TBR for a long time, and it did not disappoint. Ildiko and Brishen's calm friendship/romance was pleasant to read. My only real gripe was that it was too pleasant, almost to the point of monotony. Can't have too much of a good thing, I guess! The epilogue ending, though... With that kind of "cliffhanger," I'm definitely picking up the next book for sure.

Option 1
Bookcover/link: Promised by Claire Cullen

How it qualifies: #3 of the Alpha Princes series
**** 6/6/25
Review: #3 of the Alpha Princes series. This was the last book in the trilogy and brought the mystery of who had been manipulating the hatred of omegas and interfering in the courtship selection to a satisfactory conclusion. This was Prince Alexander's book and his triad was formed with Sam, a fellow naval officer but also an alpha and Jonah, an omega. Alpha/alpha relationships are not acceptable in Ember but the pair had found a way round this by falling for Jonah. As an omega, Jonah becomes a target for the mastermind still at large. Everything ends well, of course but not without a bit of excitement along the way.

How it fits: #2 of the Exiled Omegas series
**** 9/6/25
Review: I read #2 before attempting #1, purely because of this challenge and although it worked out to do that, I wouldn't recommend it. I liked it very much, even without any actual mpreg and I'm looking forward to reading #1 now. The world building was interesting; nothing new that I hadn't come across before and it was refreshing to have feisty omegas for a change.

This was a pretty good next book in the duology. This one was about Marcello and Jerry. Jerry struck me a bit funny in the first book, but now we see what he is struggling with. I liked how he really tried (for Marcello and for his own happiness) to make sense of his feelings rather than ignore them. I liked this one maybe a smidge more than the first book, but it still sits at about a 3.5 star read for me.

Week 8, Option 1
Task: Read a book from a 2 book series (duology) or read the 2nd book in a series

Twisted Games

How it fits - Twisted #2

Option 1
Green Ravens
How it qualifies: book 2
series page
date read: 6/8/25
4 stars
It was nice to see some of the background of the 2 MCs who were turned into the Green Ravens.
We see them as boat chiefs attempting to rescue some SEALS when one boat is torpedoed and all are killed except Oakley and Sawyer.
They try to make their way through the Amazon jungle to get to the rescue point. However, when they stumble upon civilization, its the team of scientists who are turning men into the new fighting class of warriors.
We see some of the transformation for the 2 men and one of their missions where they meet the Black and Brown ravens.
I was surprised that the original team didn't do more to find Oakley and Sawyer once they escaped. There was a brief mention of it but if they were so valuable I would have expected more of a search.

Week 6, Option 1

Book: Twisted Love
Date read: June 09

Review:
I like this series, there were certain moments often used in other books as plots in love, although that I liked the relationship between the two heroes. I finished the book a few days ago, it's hard for me to say more considering that I'm almost finishing the second one now. I can say that I'm sure I'll finish this series soon.

This was a great book. Jamie was a part of the deaf community, and I loved how it highlighted his challenges while not making being deaf a burden or a problem. It really brought out the beauty of falling in love with someone slowly. Dan and Jamie were such a great pair. I loved them together. This had no relationship angst, and I appreciated that.

This was a quick read.

Eventually his ex gets in touch to ask him to look after his daughter and then unfortunately she and her boyfriend are killed.
I wished this story had been longer and more filled out, everything was easily solved.

I liked it more than the previous book. I've always had a soft spot for bodyguards. I would like to express more in words, but it was an extremely hard week for me, but I can say that I enjoyed reading it at the end of the day.

Week 9, Option 1

Date read: 6/19/25
Rating: 2★
Review: Well, I've read far worse books which is why this isn't getting a lower rating. But ugh. There was little to no plot to speak of, and every scene felt like a daily diary entry. He goes to work in his office doing mafia business, while she does her painting, and every now and then they'd switch it up by going shopping or to a restaurant. It was so dull and boring! And then of course the third act breakup happened, but that was stupid and drawn-out as well. It took me nearly a week to get through these 200 pages!!!

Option 1
15. A honeymoon trip will generally mark the beginning of the couple's married life.
Read a book tagged 'holiday' or 'vacation'. These are the only tags that will work.
So this can be a genre on the main page or on the book's shelves. A list will not work.
Please ask in the Q&A if you aren't sure.

Review: This was my 3rd reading of this book and I've enjoyed it more each time. I loved both characters but could relate to Henry in a way I never could with Reed, having lost 4.5 very necessary stones (28.5kg) when I retired. I can also vividly remember my first visit to the gym when I didn't even last 2 minutes on the elliptical! Reading this again also reminded me about healthy eating and that 'cheating' only hurts myself and for that alone it would have been worth 5*. Thankfully, it did not, as it was a great read overall - funny, low angst and believable.
