Jessica S | 243 comments Also Amanda, I mentioned a Layla Moran book but I'm now 90% sure she uses AI so I'd stay away from her. The Curse Between Us

If you search through MM new releases on Amazon, AI books are everywhere, but you can always tell by how many books they're releasing month to month.

I've been noticing the AI too. It's so annoying. I usually try to see if they credit a cover artist.

Look like Layla Moran actually just publishes different people's fanfics as her own. Probably still uses AI to try to make them "different". https://www.reddit.com/r/MM_RomanceBo...

Omg that's even worse! It's so annoying because people are less likely to give new authors a chance. I tend to trust anyone who's posted a photo of themselves on their profile as well and looking for a cover artist.

Trio | 94 comments Amanda, Leg: The Story of a Limb and the Boy Who Grew from It was wonderful, I highly reccomend it!!!!

I've been wanting to listen to The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics too - I've been passing on it every time it comes avail at my library, but next time it comes up I'd love to do a buddy read/listen if you are still looking at that one.

I saw a list of things to look for for AI from that thread. It was specifically for sapphic romance but all the tips would still apply. I’ll see if I can find it again!

I’m actually like 45% into Leg and it’s so good! I’m listening to the audiobook and the authors cadence and sense of humor kinda reminds me of TJ Klune.

I’m doing a buddy read of Boys in the Boat in a different group so I’ll definitely be reading it sometime this month! I have not checked if it fits this weeks tasks but I can hold off until next week if you need to wait for the library (I have it for individual in Tudor so just need it sometime soonish)

I figured it would push me to catch up on some NetGalley reads/reviews 😅

message 110: by Trio (new)

Trio | 94 comments yeah, that's one reason I love Uno too... I can fit those NetGalley books in pretty easily.
I finally knocked out Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman (which was good) but I couldn't use it for Uno bc there was only a "B" or an "S" 😂.

message 111: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 241 comments So I think in this group we have to pick a date for the buddy read to start, can't just be open whenever? If that's the case I wont be able to do the King's Man 2 because it's an ARC that I like to have finished before the book is released. Sorry about that!!

I could do Soft Hands if it works for you Jessica and Trio The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. If you guys know around what time of the month those would work best for you let me know and I can request threads :)

Jessica I'd also be interested in Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West and The Perfect Storm: A True Story of Men Against the Sea. Just let me know what time of the month you thought you'd get to those and I can hop in too :)

I would usually say you do not, but since it's the last in the series knowing Lucy and May I would bet that there are approximately 1 million cameos

Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 126 comments Sorry for the delay in posting. My Internet has not been cooperating these past few weeks—the joys of living in a desert. I have been reading. I have two books finished, and I need to type the reviews and finish reading another, as it is due back to the library tomorrow.

Congratulations adventurers! After resting well and learning from the wisdom at TOM BOMBADIL'S CABIN you receive a cry for help from your allies to the south. You ride hard for the BLACK GATE, hoping to do what you can to aid in the fight.

As you ride, you sense the deadly power of an ENEMY hot on your heels. You are pursued by the BARROW-WIGHTS, undead enemies from just outside the Shire.

The cost to defeat this enemy is 250 pages. There is no bonus for defeating this enemy.

Congratulations adventurers! You fight bravely and well against the enemies of the BLACK GATE but after some time you are forced to retreat. You seek the aid and wisdom of those ancient stewards of the trees in FANGORN FOREST. They who defeated the wizard Saruman may have other magics to help you in your quest.

After entering the shaded eaves of the forest, you encounter a small but powerful ALLY riding on the shoulders of an ent. This wise cracking halfling is MERRY, a friendly hobbit from the Shire.

The cost to earn Merry's assistance is 300 pages. There is no penalty for failing to complete this ally.

Congratulations adventurers! After many slow, wise conversations with the Ents of FANGORN FOREST, you long for more familiar company. You decide to regroup and resupply at the little village of BREE, where men and hobbits alike drink, dance, and tell stories.

But in this place of light and warmth, an ancient ENEMY lurks. One night you walk past a shadowed alley and are attacked by the dreaded spider SHELOB.

The cost to defeat this enemy is 400 pages. There is no bonus for completing this enemy.

Congratulations adventurers! With spirits lifted from song and drink in BREE, you feel ready to begin the long march to your ultimate goal, Orodruin. To get there, you must descend through the eerie and deep MINES OF MORIA and avoid the many dangers they contain.

Joining you is a clumsy but brave ALLY, a hobbit who has been this way before by the name of PIPPIN. His knowledge and good cheer can help you navigate through the mines.

The cost for Pippin's help is 300 pages. There is no penalty for failing to complete this ally.

Congratulations adventurers! Your courage and mental fortitude see you clear to the other side of the MINES OF MORIA. You hear tell of a battle, farther west, at the famous magician's tower of ISENGARD.

At Isengard, you are tasked with defeating the ENEMY wizard, only recently turned traitor, a formidable foe named SARUMAN. Losing him will be a great blow to your ultimate enemy.

The cost to defeat Saruman is 300 pages. There is no bonus for completing this enemy.

You have successfully avoided a penalty.

Congratulations adventurers! Alongside the trees of Fangorn, you have brought down the evil wizard Saruman at his stronghold in ISENGARD. There you acquire a guide, a creature who will lead you to Orodruin in the lands of Mordor. He tells you that the quickest, and safest, way to the mountain is through a secret pass. You follow him to SHELOB'S LAIR.

Armed with elven weapons, you enter the lair alongside your stalwart ALLY, a little but amazingly resilient hobbit named FRODO. Taking courage from one another, you head deep into the gathering dark.

The cost of Frodo's assistance is 450 pages. There is no penalty for failing to complete this ally.

Congratulations adventurers! With the light of the elves and the conviction in your hearts, you escape the dreaded SHELOB'S LAIR. From here you cross the wastes of Mordor. You must dodge Orcs and other fell beasts, drink foul water to survive, and fight with every step against the overwhelming power of the Ring. But fight you do, and soon you arrive at your final goal. Before you stands Orodruin, better known by the peoples of Middle-earth as MOUNT DOOM.

At this final hurdle, you are accompanied by a most kingly ALLY. The elves call him Elessar, the hobbits call him Strider, but you know him to be ARAGORN. Beside the King of Gondor, you begin to climb the mountain.

The cost of Aragorn's assistance is 400 pages. There is no penalty for failing to complete this ally.
