Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 126 comments It's been another busy week, and I am exhausted. The book is done, I will get the review up in the morning, when I can see straight.

Congratulations adventurers! You have fought your way through the hordes that gather outside of MINAS TIRITH. You decide to seek further aid from the Riders of Rohan who are besieged at HELM'S DEEP. You ride to the aid of King Theoden with the hopes that he will someday aid you in return.

As you ride along the ancient walls of this protective fortress, you encounter a welcome ALLY, a small man who seems to be a long way from home named SAM GAMGEE

The cost to join with this ally is 450 pages. If you win Sam's help you will get a spin on the random wheel to determine bonus points! There is no penalty for failing to complete this ally.

Don't forget you can also use any books read since the challenge began for any week.

Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 126 comments I am excited! I have two books that I am trying to finish this week.
Both have over 400 pages; one is for 3x points for being BOTM if I read instructions correctly.
The Antidote by Karen Russell /Karen Russell
The Women by Kristin Hannah /Kristin Hannah

Nice Stormy!

I also want to read The Women so I might try and fit it in if there's a buddy read happening.

Edit: just had a look at the buddy read and don't know if I'm prepared to put my heart through a meat grinder this week.

Jessica S | 243 comments I am reading Voyage of the Damned which is 498 pages and will use it for our bonus.

Just wanted to pop in here and clarify that you can use multiple books for the enemy/ally pages! So one book that's 400 or more pages would work, but so would two books of 200, one book of 100 and one of 300, etc.

message 64: by Catsalive (new)

Catsalive | 1145 comments I've got one in banked books that will do for Sam Gamgee.

Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 126 comments I also want to mention that I am doing a Buddy Read:

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin /Gabrielle Zevin

It starts...Tomorrow! ;)
If anyone is reading this book.

Congratulations adventurers! You escaped the hordes of HELM'S DEEP through acts of wit and bravery. You ride with your new Rohirrim allies to the great city of EDORAS. Here the King Theoden hosts you in his halls and toasts your acts of gallantry in rescue.

But hiding in the shadows of Theoden's halls is a dreaded ENEMY, the ever-hungry Orc named SHAGRAT.

The cost to defeat this enemy is 200 pages. Completion of this enemy will avoid a spin of the penalty wheel. There is no bonus for completing this enemy.

Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 126 comments I haven't finished my book yet. I was reading a book for Buddy Reads and got halfway through it before having to start on another one that is due back to the library, I am halfway through four books that are over 400 pages and haven't been able to finish any of them. Congratulations adventurers! You have made an ally of King Theoden in EDORAS. After making merry and exchanging battle stories for several days, you decide to seek further royal help from the dwarven king in EREBOR.

While exploring the many nooks and crannies of this vast dwarven stronghold, you see an ENEMY slinking in the dark. He has followed you here from Edoras. The sneaky, the duplicitous WORMTONGUE.

The cost to defeat this enemy is 200 pages. Completing this enemy will avoid a penalty roll. There are no bonus points available for completing this enemy.

If it’s over 100 pages, you can count it towards a task. If it’s under 100 pages, it would be page points only.

Congratulations adventurers! After exploring the vast carven halls of EREBOR you desire some more homely company. You make your way to TOM BOMBADIL'S CABIN seeking the advice of one of Middle-earth's most ancient residents.

By the safety and warmth of Goldenberry's hearth, you read a letter from an unexpected ALLY. Grateful for your contributions at Helm's Deep and Edoras, the King THEODEN writes offering you his assistance.

The cost to join with this ally is 200 pages. There is no penalty for failing to complete this ally.

Hi Amanda!

You can use it towards the ally, or if it has a decent amount of pages you can save it and use it for a future week. Books don't need to be submitted the week you finish them, it can be any time in the challenge.

Are you using Soft Hands for MM Scavenger Hunt? I don't even know if you're playing that, but if it has good points I'll buddy read it with you. I'm also doing these for Book Quest memoir, as the audiobooks are free with audible plus

Arctic Homestead The True Story of One Family's Survival and Courage in the Alaskan Wilds by Norma Cobb The Perfect Storm A True Story of Men Against the Sea by Sebastian Junger Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee An Indian History of the American West by Dee Brown We Few U.S. Special Forces in Vietnam by Nick Brokhausen

Kings Men Book 1 and 2 look good. Will join you on those (Or just book two if you've read one)

I'm really enjoying my nonfiction/memoirs so if you need a buddy reader here and in quest for yours let me know.

Also most of my other groups are fantasy light readers and I think you lean more fantasy/paranormal like me so I'll probably join you with some of your planned reads! When I was waiting to see if I would get on a team I saw one of your older posts of new releases and think I added them all to my TBR.

I skipped hunt this year, so not sure on points for it.

I did read Kings Book 1 and it was a tad messy. I'm already a Sunday fan so I'm trusting the process, but the cohesive worldbuilding wasn't quite there.

Maybe posting our planned reads for the week would be a good idea. I'm trying to branch out so might get inspired.
