SOLVED. YA novel in the form of a boy and girl's notes to each other. Read around 2004-2009.

Brief YA novel told in the form of the two protagonists' notes back and forth to each other. The protags were a boy and a girl, either in high school or college, and I believe they were friends at the beginning but there was a romance element as it developed. I feel like they were written notes they left for each other, not text messages or emails, but I could be mis-remembering.

I read this book around 2004-2009 and assume it came out around then, but not sure. I think I remember it having a lime green cover with some sort of silhouetted person??

I don't know why I remembered this recently but it is driving me crazy! Thanks for any ideas you might have.
