Children’s novel read circa 1995 in UK. main character was hypotenuse twin eating eggs and bacon/ bacon and eggs

I remember the start of the book being in a forest. The hypotenuse was either one creature with 2 sides or they were twins. One ate eggs and bacon and the other bacon and eggs. I remember a Tasmanian devil type creature that ate violins and I think it was trapped in a suitcase. There was a frog or similar that jumped from a great height into a jar. I also remember something about calico cloth??
